Chapter 151: Chapter 150: Girl Help Girl

Standing next to Rian Sinclair, Ronan Ford naturally heard the man in green. He pursed his lips and frowned, looking at Rian’s foot planted firmly on the man’s chest. "You’re wearing a dress. Put your foot down."

Rian did as he said and lowered her foot, though she muttered, "It’s a long dress. It doesn’t matter."

Ronan heard her grumbling. "It’s still a dress," he said softly.

Rian didn’t reply. Seeing that she wouldn’t be able to interrogate anything useful out of the man anyway, she nudged Ronan with her elbow. "Keep an eye on them. We’ll wait for the police."

Seeing Ronan nod, she turned and walked toward the injured girls.

The victims had been helped to some nearby chairs by another girl from the crowd. Several other female bystanders ran over to bring bandages and medical supplies, while some even took off their own jackets to drape over the battered women.

Rian looked at the first girl who had been busy tending to them; it was the one she had previously instructed to call the police. The girl who had brought the bandages was standing next to her boyfriend—she was the one who had tried to rush forward to help earlier but had been held back.

The girl who had called the police had tears in her eyes as she looked at the injured victims. She hated how weak she was, wishing she could have rushed in to help them the very second the assault began.

"Don’t cry," a female voice sounded by her ear. The girl looked up and met Rian’s gaze. Rian reached out to wipe the tears from the girl’s face, then looked at the victims sitting on the chairs. "How are they doing?"

"Three of them are severely injured, especially their heads and faces. Those men deliberately targeted those areas!" cried out the girl holding the bandages and antiseptic. She was being held tightly by the young man beside her, his knuckles white from his grip.

Rian nodded, recognizing her as the one who had been held back by her boyfriend. "Do you have medical training?"

The girl nodded. Rian checked the time and said softly, "The ambulance should be here soon."

She then approached the victims. The only girl who was still fully conscious was holding the other three tightly in her arms, chanting endlessly, "Don’t be afraid, girls. We’re safe now."

Hearing the girl’s voice, Rian’s body stiffened for a moment. As soon as she reached out and touched her, the victim flinched violently, tightening her grip on her three friends. "I’m sorry," Rian said.

She withdrew her hand and looked at the injured girl, then down at her own hand, slightly regretting reaching out so abruptly.

Hearing the female voice, the victim whipped her head around and met Rian’s eyes. Upon seeing the girl who had saved her and her friends, she could no longer hold back her tears. She began to sob, repeating endlessly, "Thank you, thank you..."

Her crying was muffled and suppressed, as if she were terrified that making too much noise would anger their attackers and invite more violence. Her stifled sobs brought tears to the eyes of the surrounding female bystanders. Some immediately broke down crying into their boyfriends’ shoulders.

At this moment, all the women present stood on a united front—women helping women.

Rian looked at the girl who had thrown her arms around her, constantly thanking her. The corners of Rian’s eyes reddened slightly. She placed a hand on the girl’s back and patted it gently. "It’s okay now. Don’t cry."

After comforting the girl, Rian checked on the other three victims. The moment her hands examined them, she realized just how severe their injuries were. With current medical technology, the damage to their faces would be impossible to fully restore.

It meant that these three girls had permanently lost their original appearances. The facial scars would accompany them for the rest of their lives, never to fade.

One of them was even more critically injured. She had suffered severe brain trauma. If subsequent surgeries failed, the brain damage could leave her in a vegetative state, condemning her to a hospital bed for the rest of her life, never to step outside and see the flowers bloom again.

After assessing the three girls’ conditions, Rian still didn’t know the exact cause of the incident. The surrounding bystanders weren’t entirely sure of the full sequence of events either; they only remembered hearing the sound of smashing bottles before the brutal beating commenced.

One of the four victims choked out, "They’re a pack of animals."

She truly couldn’t understand it. They had just been wearing white T-shirts and long pants—how could they be accused of being indecent? She also couldn’t fathom why their attackers were so unapologetically arrogant, committing such indiscriminate and unwarranted sexual harassment.

Hearing this, Rian completely understood. The girls hadn’t done anything wrong. They had simply been enjoying some barbecue when some absolute scumbags decided to look for trouble for no reason.

Noticing the fear still lingering on the girls’ faces, Rian said softly, "It’s alright. Don’t be afraid. The perpetrators will be punished in the end."

Rian looked at the victims before her. She wondered what would have happened to them if she hadn’t been here today.

They would have been punched, kicked, and brutally beaten into the ground by those men, who would have then fled the scene, leaving them battered in the dust. What did they do wrong to deserve such cruelty?

If their attackers truly had powerful connections, what recourse would these ordinary girls with no backing have?

But she had encountered it today. Therefore, this gang of thugs would absolutely receive the punishment they deserved, and she would fight for maximum justice for these victims.

When the sound of police sirens finally wailed in the distance, the surrounding crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief. They all thought that it was wonderful the police were here, that the girls were saved, and that those bad men would get what they deserved. The crowd then turned to look in the direction of the approaching police cars.

"Disperse! Break it up! What are you all crowding around for? Disperse!" an impatient voice barked through the crowd. The mob of onlookers had already thinned out considerably, but hearing the officer’s abrasive tone scared several more into leaving. The other officers also began to shoo away the remaining bystanders.

The lead officer walked toward the center of the fray. He looked at the numerous people lying injured on the ground, finding a few of the thugs to look rather familiar. He then glared at the surroundings, pointing at the bodies on the ground. "Who did this? A mass brawl? Do you have no respect for the law?"

Rian frowned slightly upon hearing his tone. She glanced at the other police officers—they looked more like a gang of street thugs themselves. Ronan stepped forward. He had barely gotten the word "Officer" out when he was rudely cut off.

"Shut your mouth! Get on the ground."

Hearing this, Rian almost burst out laughing. Ordering Ronan Ford to get on the ground? She found it genuinely hilarious.

A bewildered expression appeared on Ronan’s face for the first time. He was just about to speak when the voice barked again.

"Still moving forward, huh? Stop right there! Hands on your head and get on the ground!"
