Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The Car Dealership’s Barking Duo

After finishing their meal, Rian Sinclair realized it was still early before class started. Seeing that their household was growing in number, they were running short on vehicles, so she decided to take Donovan Sinclair out to buy a few things for them.

She tossed the car keys to Donovan. "You have a driver’s license, right?"

Donovan caught the keys and nodded. "Aside from a C5 license, I have the other seventeen types of driver’s licenses. Additionally, I hold all three types of pilot’s licenses."

Rian listened, completely dumbfounded. Although she had no idea what a C5 license was, hearing Donovan casually mention that he had almost every license imaginable just sounded incredibly badass!

Sure enough!

Spending 350 million wasn’t a bad deal at all. Products from the system were guaranteed to be top-tier!

Now that she had a designated driver, Rian naturally chose to slouch lazily in the passenger seat. "Let’s go to East Argent Mall."

It was the same mall she had visited before. Seriously! They had everything there, so why bother trekking somewhere far away? For building such a convenient shopping center, Rian silently gave a thumbs-up to the Shepherd Family, the owners behind East Argent Mall.

She dozed off as soon as she got in the car, only slowly waking up when Donovan called out to her. After stepping out, Rian rubbed her sore lower back. She thought, "My desire to change cars is getting stronger."

Supercars were undeniably cool, but her poor back just couldn’t handle the rough ride!

She quickly walked into the mall, taking Donovan along to swiftly purchase everything they needed and arrange for it to be delivered to their residence. The money she had given him yesterday probably hadn’t lasted long in a place like Argent, where land was worth its weight in gold.

"Do you know any car dealerships in Argent? I’m buying a car for you guys," Rian asked Donovan directly once they were back in the car. With an assistant by her side, there was no need to go through the trouble of searching for one herself. All she had to do was swipe her card.

"Miss, how about we go to Apex Autos?" Donovan suggested after checking his phone for a moment. Rian nodded in agreement.

Apex Autos, located in the West District, covered an area of over thirty acres. It was one of the most famous dealerships in Argent, housing exclusive showrooms for nearly all the world’s most renowned automotive brands.

While ordinary people looking to buy a car would typically choose from the three basics—BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Audi—Rian was planning to buy a luxury vehicle.

Luxury cars usually meant globally recognized brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Maybach, Aston Martin, Maserati, and Lamborghini. However, despite their massive fame, brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini weren’t at the absolute pinnacle. The only reason Rian had bought her LaFerrari in the first place was because Ash Sinclair had casually mentioned it.

Still, if there were any of the three legendary hypercars like the Bugatti Veyron, Pagani, or Koenigsegg available, Rian wouldn’t mind subjecting her poor back to a little discomfort just to get her hands on one.

They arrived at their destination. Rian took Donovan for a stroll past the BMW and Mercedes-Benz showrooms before heading over to check out Porsche. Since the car was meant for Donovan to drive, she figured that as a guy, he would probably appreciate a Porsche.

Upon arriving at the Porsche dealership, Rian clutched her bag and prepared to walk in. Suddenly, a sharp SCREECH of tires echoed behind them. Donovan immediately shielded Rian, pulling her to the side. Frowning, she looked back to see a black Audi come to a halt.

Both car doors opened almost simultaneously, and a man and a woman stepped out. The man wore sunglasses, his hair slicked back into an immaculate pompadour. Clad in an Armani suit and twirling the Audi’s keys in his hand, he looked every bit the stereotypical rich young master. The woman beside him also wore sunglasses, dressed in a breezy mini skirt that fell well above her knees. She carried a Gucci bag and sported shocking neon pink lipstick, giving her an incredibly ostentatious look.

The man in sunglasses swaggered over. Giving Rian and Donovan a mere passing glance, he immediately snapped, "Are you two blind? Don’t you watch out for cars when you walk? Or are you trying to pull an insurance scam like those old geezers?"

Shielded by Donovan, who was more concerned about whether she was startled than firing back at the man, Rian felt her temper flare instantly at the crude remarks.

She was just about to give him a piece of her mind when the ostentatious woman pulled her sunglasses down slightly. Staring at Rian, she let out a sudden gasp. "You... are you Rian Sinclair?"

Rian was taken aback. "You know me? Even if you do, you aren’t getting out of apologizing."

Acting as if she hadn’t heard the latter half of the sentence, the woman exclaimed in pleasant surprise, "It really is you, Rian!"

Rian pressed her lips together in silence, fighting the urge to roll her eyes.

The woman didn’t care whether Rian responded or not. She rambled on, "I’m Yara Lane, your high school classmate! Don’t you remember me? Is this your boyfriend next to you?" As she spoke, she took off her sunglasses, revealing a face caked in heavy makeup.

Rian furrowed her brows at the heavy layers, trying to peer through the cheap cosmetics to see exactly what kind of creature was hiding underneath.

Yara Lane? The name sounded a little familiar. But not that familiar.

Yara, oblivious to the silent treatment, continued, "You really are a big shot with a bad memory, Rian! I was the arts and entertainment representative for our class!"

Hearing this, Rian nodded. "Oh, so you’re the Yara Lane who couldn’t beat my scores in Corvum, so you snitched to the teacher and claimed I cheated? Or are you the Yara Lane who spent every day in the dorms spreading rumors that I was a sugar baby and completely full of myself?"

Being called out so accurately on both accounts left Yara with an incredibly awkward expression.

The man in sunglasses took off his shades upon hearing this. He looked Rian up and down before smiling. "Yara, is this your classmate? She’s quite pretty, isn’t she?"

"Pretty? Is she prettier than me?" As a woman, the one thing Yara couldn’t stand was her boyfriend praising another woman right in front of her.

Seeing Yara glaring at him in anger, the man chuckled dismissively. "Of course you’re prettier, Yara. How could she even compare to you? You’re a beautiful swan; at best, she’s just a cheap street bird with passable looks."

Despite his words, he insincerely stole a few more glances at Rian. After all, he was only saying those things to placate his bedmate.

Yara scanned Rian. Although she looked much more glamorous now, Yara knew all about Rian’s family background. Staring at the bag hanging off Rian’s shoulder, she frowned in disgust. "I’m just saying, Rian. If your family doesn’t have money, you should just be honest, keep your head down, and get a proper job. Stop being so vain."

Rian watched Yara’s antics. She thought, "What on earth is she yapping about?"

Following right after, the man in sunglasses chimed in, "Yara, even if someone is poor, they can still be pretty. There will always be rich guys willing to pay for a pretty face. All she has to do is latch onto a sugar daddy, spread her legs, and call him ’daddy,’ and she’ll have all the money she wants, won’t she?"

Yara nodded firmly. So what if Rian was pretty? So what if her grades were good? Now that they were out in the real world, wasn’t Rian still beneath her?

The man in sunglasses loved to show off, especially in front of a stunning beauty. Wrapping an arm around Yara, he laughed. "Ah, Yara, some people just have it easy. Unlike us! We have to rely on our own hard work. It took us a whole few years to save up enough to buy a house and a car. It really hasn’t been easy for us!"
