Chapter 4: You’re already engaged

"Your mate?" Miller’s eyes widened in shock.

The doctor and the two nurses exchanged equally stunned glances. None of them had expected Andrew to reveal that the unconscious woman on the bed was his mate.

Miller quickly lowered his gaze before speaking carefully. "Your Highness, annihilating an entire pack isn’t the right course of action when it was her mate who was responsible for what happened. You should find out who did this to her first. Once we know the truth, you can decide how to punish the person responsible."

"Who cares about their lives?" Andrew growled, his eyes turning dangerously dark red. "A pregnant woman was driven to the brink of death and left with injuries severe enough to cost her pup’s life. Do you need any more justification to destroy the pack that allowed this to happen?"

’Calm down, Andrew,’ his wolf warned immediately. ’Our mate is resting right here. You cannot let your anger disturb her.’

Andrew’s gaze instinctively shifted toward Caroline. Seeing her lying unconscious beneath the blanket was enough to make him force down some of his rage.

Without saying another word, he turned and stormed out of the room, with Miller immediately following behind him.

The moment the door closed, Andrew’s expression hardened again.

"Find out everything about the Crystal Moon Pack," he ordered coldly. "I want to know who her mate was, what he did to her, and exactly what happened to her family."

"Your Highness, I’m already looking into it," Miller assured him. He hesitated for a moment before his curiosity got the better of him. "But is that woman truly your mate?"

Even after witnessing Andrew’s reaction, Miller was still stunned by the revelation. Andrew had never shown any interest in finding his mate, and the fact that she had suddenly appeared under such circumstances was difficult to comprehend.

"Yes," Andrew replied without hesitation. His eyes narrowed slightly. "Do you think I’m lying?"

"I wouldn’t doubt you, not even for a moment," Miller answered quickly. He took a step closer before carefully asking, "But what about your fiancée? You’re already engaged."

Andrew’s expression darkened, and a cold sneer appeared on his face.

"I was never a part of that arrangement," he said dismissively. "It was something my mother decided for me. I never agreed to it and I never attended it."

Andrew walked toward the balustrade and rested his hands against it as he looked out at the vast garden below. His expression remained cold, but the tension in his jaw revealed how angry he still was.

"My mate’s name is Caroline," he said. "She was crying because of another man. He rejected her four days ago, and she was carrying his pup when it happened."

His fists tightened at the thought of the man who had abandoned Caroline and left her to face everything alone.

Miller noticed the change in Andrew’s expression, but before he could say anything, his phone rang from inside his pocket.

He pulled it out and glanced at the screen. "It’s Gamma Jeremy. He’s the one we sent to the Crystal Moon Pack to investigate."

Andrew turned around and held out his hand. "Give it to me."

Miller handed him the phone, and Andrew immediately brought it to his ear.

"Speak, Jeremy. Spare me the greetings."

Jeremy didn’t waste any time. "Your Highness, we found out that Miss Caroline’s father had a debt. According to the information we gathered, some rogues were responsible for killing her parents. They were also after Caroline, which is why she fled into the forest."

"That’s a lie," Andrew replied sternly. "Did Miller not tell you to find the bastard who hurt Caroline?"

He gripped the phone tighter as his anger resurfaced.

"She had a mate, Jeremy. He rejected her and sent wolves after her to kill her. I want you to find out who he is and bring me the truth. Don’t come back with excuses or some fabricated story about rogues."

"Y-yes, Alpha Prince," Jeremy replied nervously.

"And don’t let anyone find out who you are," Andrew warned before ending the call. He tossed the phone back to Miller, who caught it promptly.

"I believe someone powerful in that pack is behind this," Miller remarked. "That’s probably why they’ve spread this story among the pack members. Jeremy only heard what they wanted him to hear."

Andrew let out a low, mocking chuckle as he turned back toward the garden.

"Who could possibly be more powerful than me?" he said, his voice laced with cold amusement. "They have no idea what awaits them once I get my hands on the person responsible."

His eyes suddenly shimmered with an intense, fiery glow, and Miller instinctively fell silent. Andrew’s wolf was clearly sharing his master’s rage.

"I’ll make sure that man feels the pain he inflicted upon my mate a thousand times over," Andrew added coldly with determination.

Miller gulped hard, knowing exactly what was going to happen soon.
