Chapter 813: 813. Chu Yang confessing his sins

After a brief but fierce battle, the three Chu disciples quickly overwhelmed their enemies. The stronger opponents were slain where they stood, while the rest fled in panic, unwilling to remain even a moment longer. In the blink of an eye, the battlefield fell silent, leaving only the corpses and the faint smell of blood in the air.

"Brother Yang!"

The moment the danger had passed, Chu Yin rushed forward and threw herself into Chu Yang’s arms. Tears streamed down her face as she clung to him as though she had nearly lost him.

"Sorry, Sister Yin. I was late."

Chu Yang gently hugged her back, his expression filled with guilt.

"Cough... I am also here."

Chu Kang’s voice came from the side.

Chu Yang turned and laughed before pulling him into the hug as well. Chu Yin immediately shot her brother a sharp glare. Chu Kang wisely pretended not to notice and looked toward the sky with an innocent expression.

The three of them had always been inseparable. Chu Kang and Chu Yin were biological siblings, while Chu Yang was their father’s disciple. From the moment he entered the sect, the three had spent most of their time together. To Chu Yang, the two siblings were no different from his own family.

After a moment, Chu Yang finally released them.

His expression suddenly became solemn.

He took a step back and slowly knelt before the two siblings.

"Brother Yang, what are you doing?"

Chu Yin and Chu Kang were both startled.

"Don’t move," Chu Yang said quietly.

The two exchanged a confused glance.

"There is something I want to confess."

Chu Yin’s cheeks suddenly turned red.

Chu Kang immediately pointed toward his sister.

"Think carefully before accepting the proposal. Do you really want this?"

Bang!

Chu Yin punched him on the head.

"Ouch! Why are you hitting me? I was only—"

"Stop talking nonsense!"

Chu Yin glared at him before turning her attention back to Chu Yang.

However, seeing the serious expression on his face, Chu Yang felt even more troubled.

He slowly reached behind his back and pulled out his ancient sword.

The moment the blade appeared, both siblings froze.

Chu Yang turned the sword around and placed its sharp edge against his chest.

"Brother Yang!"

"Sigh... I knew it. It really is better to die than marry her."

Bang!

Chu Kang received another punch from Chu Yin.

"Stop joking!"

Chu Yin’s expression had become completely serious. She stared at Chu Yang, waiting for an explanation.

Chu Yang lowered his head.

His fingers tightened around the ancient sword.

"I... killed your father."

The words fell like a heavy stone into the silent battlefield.

Chu Yang closed his eyes and waited.

He had already prepared himself for their anger, their hatred, and perhaps even their blades.

But nothing happened. There was no shouting. No killing intent. No accusations. Only silence.

After several breaths, Chu Yang slowly opened his eyes.

To his surprise, both siblings were looking at him with bitter smiles.

Chu Kang sighed.

"It took you this long, Junior Brother."

Chu Yang’s eyes widened.

"What?"

Chu Yin wiped away the remaining tears from her face and gave him a helpless smile.

"We already knew, Brother Yang."

Chu Yang stared at them in disbelief.

"You... knew?"

Chu Kang nodded. "We have known for quite some time."

Chu Yang’s mind went completely blank.

"Do you really think we never conducted a background check when you joined the sect?" Chu Yin asked softly.

Chu Yang’s body stiffened.

Chu Yin wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes before continuing, "Father had a rule. Before any disciple was accepted into the sect, their background had to be investigated thoroughly. We knew who you were from the very beginning."

"Then why?"

Chu Yang’s voice was filled with confusion.

"If you already knew that I harbored a grudge against Father, why did you still allow me to become his disciple?"

Chu Kang sighed.

"We knew that you wanted to avenge your sister."

His expression became complicated.

"When you became Father’s disciple, both of us were actually somewhat afraid. We didn’t know whether you would eventually turn against us as well, so we secretly kept an eye on you."

A bitter smile appeared on his face.

"But strangely enough, the more we watched you, the closer the three of us became."

Chu Yang remained silent.

He had never imagined that the two siblings had known his identity from the beginning.

Chu Yin lowered her head.

"Actually... there was another reason we sympathized with you."

Her voice trembled.

"Our father killed our mother."

Chu Yang’s pupils contracted.

"My mother was a mortal. She raised us alone because Father was rarely around. After I was born, he spent almost all his time cultivating and barely returned home. To him, cultivation was more important than anything else."

Chu Yin’s hands trembled as the memories resurfaced.

"Then one day, Father finally came back. I don’t even remember what the argument was about anymore. Perhaps it was something trivial. Perhaps it was something that had accumulated over many years."

She took a shaky breath.

"But his anger grew out of control."

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

"He killed Mother right in front of us."

The atmosphere became heavy.

Chu Kang gently placed a hand on his sister’s shoulder.

"We were furious. We hated him. But despite everything, we still couldn’t bring ourselves to kill our own father. Blood ties are sometimes the most troublesome chains in this world."

His eyes darkened.

"We wanted revenge, but we were also afraid of becoming monsters ourselves."

Chu Yang’s grip on the ancient sword slowly loosened.

"Then... you saw me?"

"Yes."

Chu Kang nodded.

"One day, we saw you enter the sect. After investigating your background." He gave a bitter laugh. "At that time, we immediately understood what you wanted."

"We made sure you became Father’s disciple," Chu Yin added. "And we concealed certain parts of your background from him."

Chu Yang stared at them.

"You deliberately helped me?"

"We did."

Chu Yin smiled sadly.

"Father had also killed your sister because of his anger. When we learned about that, we couldn’t help but sympathize with you. We thought that perhaps you could understand the hatred we carried in our hearts."

She looked toward Chu Yang.

"But you never showed any murderous intent toward Father."

Chu Yin chuckled through her tears.

"You acted as though you had let everything go."

Her gaze became distant.

"But now that I think about it... you were never someone who had given up."

"You were simply waiting."

She smiled faintly.

"Like a tiger lying silently in the grass, waiting for its prey to lower its guard."

Chu Yang’s eyes trembled.

He had spent all these years hiding his hatred.

He had thought that no one had noticed.

Yet the two people closest to him had understood everything.

Chu Yin reached out and gently pushed the ancient sword away from his chest.

The blade slid to the side.

Then she stepped forward and hugged Chu Yang while he remained kneeling.

"I’m sorry, Brother Yang."

Her tears fell onto his shoulder.

"We used you to get close to Father."

Chu Yang’s body trembled.

Then he slowly raised his arms and hugged her back.

Tears finally fell from his eyes.

"I don’t blame you."

For years, he had carried his hatred alone.

He had believed that revenge would eventually leave him with nothing.

Yet at this moment, he realized that he had never truly been alone.

Nearby, Chu Kang stood completely dumbfounded.

He looked at the two people hugging each other.

Then he looked at the ancient sword lying on the ground.

Finally, he sighed.

"I am still here, you know."

Chu Yin didn’t even turn around.

"Just drop dead."

Chu Kang’s face darkened as he watched the two of them.

"At least get a room, you two."

A moment later, Chu Yin’s foot came flying toward his face.

Chu Kang hurriedly dodged the dropkick and retreated several steps.

"Alright, lovebirds. Enough with the affection. We need to leave this place," he said helplessly. "Father is dead, and the enemies who were afraid of him will soon come looking for us. Even some people from our own sect have already turned against us. From today onward, we’re deserters."

He glanced toward Chu Yang.

"Do you have anywhere we can go?"

Chu Yang smiled, "Well, how about the place I was before?"

Before he could say anything else, a sharp pain suddenly came from his waist.

Chu Yang’s expression stiffened.

Chu Yin was smiling sweetly, but for some reason, that smile sent a chill down his spine.

"Brother Yang..."

Her voice was unusually gentle.

"Who was that beauty who dropped you here?"

Chu Yang’s forehead immediately broke out in cold sweat.

Chu Kang quietly stepped backward.

He had no intention of getting involved.

Chu Yang swallowed.

"She..."

He suddenly realized that explaining the existence of Hazel and her teleportation ability was going to be far more difficult than fighting the entire group of enemies they had just escaped from.

He gathered his thoughts and said , "Well, I happened to meet a very wealthy young master."
