Chapter 797: Stubbornness & Impatience (II)

Silence followed as the two teenagers were locked in a staring contest. It was clear that Sakura was dumbfounded at Higo’s stubbornness, and right now, all she wanted to do was bash his thick skull against the wall to wipe away that determined gaze in his eyes, to do something stupid.

In the end, this silence was broken when someone opened the door here to check on them up. Of course, it was none other than Kumiko, as she had just done her online examination. Hell, she still carried a pen in her hand, and based on her weak smile, it was clear that the process was quite exhausting.

"So... What is going on here?" She couldn’t help but ask. "I heard Sakura-chan raised her voice, and I just want to check to make sure that everything is okay."

"Oh, nothing bad, I can assure you." Sakura just sneered sarcastically, an expression that Higo had never thought she was capable of doing since the girl was always sweet here. "It is just... Your boyfriend decided to be a stubborn buffoon, starting to think with his muscle instead of his brain."

Well... It was not wrong, but Higo still had the corner of his lips twitching madly right now. ’More than three months we’ve lived together; how could I never know that she has a sharp tongue like this?’ He muttered under his breath.

If only Kawabe were here, the boy would try his best to signal Higo subtly to shut up, warning him to just nod and follow Sakura’s order while also trying his best not to get caught in this crossfire. For all the gentleness that the girl showed in her daily life, she was a true sharp-tongued devil when it came to players’ health, even managing to make some guys cry for defying her words in the past.

Kumiko herself didn’t really care about the girl’s sharp tongue, shifting her gaze to Higo with a mix of concern and question.

"No, it is nothing..." Higo shook his head, taking a deep breath while also trying to control his temper right now. "Just feeling everything goes smoothly, and only the tightness in my shoulder is bothering me, so I just want to speed up the process a little."

"With more training, you mean?" Sakura jumped in with her sarcastic tone. "He tried so hard to the point that the training exceeded the plan here, believing that more effort would let him heal faster! When I pointed out, he even dared to question me, saying that he knows his body better than me! Someone who has been supervising his daily rehabilitation plan since the beginning! Don’t you think he is a bit too much?"

This time, Kumiko was so stunned, even twitching her lips while staring at Higo in disbelief.

As for the boy himself, he glared at Sakura, not expecting her to be a tattletale like that. However, other than that, the boy couldn’t help but feel embarrassed right now, knowing full well that what he said was indeed a little bit stupid.

No, it wasn’t just a little bit; a lot of stupidity had just infected his brain right now.

"I... Just want to get back to the training ground as quickly as possible, you know?" He tried to defend himself stubbornly, but his tone was quite weak. "Also, I still stand by what I said! I know my body the best! Other than the tightness, everything is fine, so it is okay for me to force myself a little bit more!"

Sakura let out a deep, weary sigh, knowing full well that the boy wouldn’t budge about this matter. When she glanced to Kumiko for support, though, the girl couldn’t help but arch one of her eyebrows, finding her friend looking at Higo with a pitiful gaze.

"You... Want to get back to the training ground quickly?" Kumiko parroted her boyfriend’s words.

"Um... Yeah?" Higo blinked confusedly. "I mean, nothing wrong with that, right?" This time, he himself was unsure, feeling like Kumiko knew something he didn’t right now.

After spending the next few seconds in silence, Kumiko finally took pity on him. "You know that this week is the last fixture for the Bundesliga season, right?" She asked patiently. "After this, your team will give two weeks off for the players to adjust before the preparation for the next season begins. It was you who told me about that a few weeks ago, so why bother coming back right now? You won’t find anyone else there."

Higo blinked for a moment, trying to process what the girl had just said.

Sakura also blinked rapidly, letting her brain work.

"You mean to tell me..." The corner of Sakura’s lips twitched furiously. "That Ryusuke is training madly, just to find the team is on holiday?"

At first, agiggle escaped from her lips. However, it only took a second before full-blown laughter escaped from her, as the girl was clutching her stomach in amusement.

"W—What?! It is not funny!" Higo exclaimed, trying to defend himself. However, his cheek was so red right now, and all he wanted was to find the biggest hole on earth and bury himself alive to hide from this shame. "It is not my fault that I am too focused on my rehab that I forgot the competition is over!"

"Yeah, but your stubbornness to go back to the training ground will not go unnoticed!" Sakura snickered mockingly. "Come on! Do more training! You can go back to Berger Feld tomorrow for a training session alone, okay?"

"Why, you?!"

Kumiko couldn’t help but sigh when she saw them bickering with each other like this. Honestly, it felt like being in Hakodate Nishi once again, when she had to be the peacemaker between Higo and Makino.

’Well, at least the tension among them is gone right now.’ She smiled a little, grateful for this small thing that those two didn’t notice. "Anyway, Ryukkun’s feelings are also a valid concern here, so what about asking Guzman-san about this matter?"
