The Rise of the Iron Wall!

Chapter 813: Good News from Kawabe

That shout was loud enough for everyone to hear. Even Kumiko and Higo snapped their head toward Sakura immediately, wanting to confirm whether their ears didn’t deceive them. Just from that voice alone, they knew it should be Kawabe, the girl’s boyfriend, so it was definitely a shocking thing for them.

Of course, the one who was dumbfounded here was Sakura. After all, it had only been two hours since they called each other, and yet, here the boy was, dropping a bomb out of nowhere.

Even the girl herself still blinked repeatedly, asking in a hesitant tone, "An offer from a European team? Is it real and legit?"

It was a valid question, since so many shady deals were made by Japanese agents to scam the hell out of the players, sending them to Europe just to abandon them completely. It would be bad if something like that happened to the boy.

"It is a fucking legit offer! From a team... I don’t know the name, Fur? Furth? Something like that? Anyway, the management has already received the formal request, and the Boss also chatted with me earlier! Hahaha! I am going there, Sakura! Wait for me!" Kawabe laughed boisterously, so ecstatic about the prospect of him having to play here.

Higo turned around to Kumiko, asking the girl quietly. Well, she didn’t need to be told twice, as her fingers had already danced on her laptop’s keyboard at light speed. Soon enough, she finally got the information that they wanted.

"If I’m not wrong, he should be talking about Greuther Fürth, a second division team from Fürth, the southern part of the country. It will take around five hours of driving from here to that city, which is quite a long distance, you know?"

She frowned a little bit at something else, finding a piece of information that could confirm this matter.

"It seems that the offer is also legit. They have just lost two left-wingers this season, Marvin Stefaniak and Kenny-Prince Redondo. They are in need of reinforcement to fill that position, and even though they will probably try to sign a more experienced player, Hiroki-kun will still have a great chance to get into the main team."

"Hell, yeah! That is the team!" The boy’s laughter on the other side of the phone echoed from the call. "They have already sent a greeting through my email, and their head coach specifically said that he likes my youthful aggressiveness on the left flank and my versatility both in defense and offense! Hah! Ryusuke, if you are there, get ready, because next season, you will have to face me!"

Higo couldn’t help but snort when he heard that. "Next season? Did something get into your ears or what? Your team is in the second division, you dolt! Also, get into their first team first before bragging about that!"

"Bah! That is not a difficult thing for me! Don’t worry, my name will be bigger than yours in Germany soon enough!"

After throwing banter with each other for a while, both Higo and Kumiko finally stepped aside, giving Sakura room to talk to her boyfriend. It was clear that Sakura was ecstatic as well, having already imagined how she would live with Kawabe in this foreign land.

Higo himself was still worried, couldn’t help but ask, "What do you think about this? Do you think Kawabe has a chance to thrive here? I mean, it would be bad if he got sidelined from the beginning, right?"

In return, he just got an amused gaze from his girlfriend.

"You sure didn’t read any local news other than anything about Makino-kun and Yokohama FC, right?" She asked knowingly.

"Um? Is that related to this matter?" Higo blinked confusedly.

"Of course, it is." Kumiko giggled. "Kawabe-kun has been declared the best young player of the season for the J-League 2019, and so far, in the 2020 season, he has been proving himself as one of the most exciting youngsters to watch in the country."

Well, the news definitely caught Higo off guard. He took out his phone immediately, wanting to see it for himself. True enough, though, he won the award last season by beating Ao Tanaka from Kawasaki Frontale. Not only that, but the boy also joined three other players as the third-place player on the top assist list with 8, the youngest among the group.

That achievement alone was enough to put him as one of the hottest prospects in the country, and some news platforms even said that it was only a matter of time before he went to Europe. It was no wonder that the offer finally came here.

Thinking about it, Higo couldn’t help but grin, feeling excitement bubbling inside. While the girls were nice companions, the boy wouldn’t lie here; being the only man among his group sure was quite lonely. Of course, there was Morita in the team, but the midfielder was busy with his girlfriend—or girlfriends, Higo failed to catch up—hanging out with them.

Now that Kawabe would be in this country soon, he would have another countryman in this foreign land, and this thought alone was enough to make him forget about all the transfer drama that bothered him earlier.

’Yeah, having him here will be nice. Even though the distance is a little bit far, at least he is in the same country, and we can hang out together, probably with Morita-san as well in the future.’ A little smile spread on Higo’s face as he had already planned so many things inside his head.

Still, everything was still under discussion, and no formal agreement had been made between the two teams so far. No matter how eager Kawabe was, the boy still had to be patient, waiting for the good news from afar.

Higo himself had already forgotten about this matter the next day. After all, he didn’t know when Kawabe would be here, so it was better to put his focus on what was in front of him, which was every training session that the team had.

Then, a week after the first training session of this pre-season began, Frohling gathered all the players once again, and this time, he was sandwiched by two big guys.

"Okay, guys, I’m sure some of you have already heard of them, but they are Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Sead Kolasinac, your two new veterans. Get to know them better, okay?"
