The Rise of the Iron Wall!

Chapter 816: Higo Back at Full Training!

Well... Even though the players also figured out the problem the team had right now, no one dared to ask Frohling a question about it. No, they noticed that the boss was not in a good mood, and asking a question would be equal to a suicide. The best thing they could do was to train as hard as they could, showing their seriousness to help the man on the pitch.

Of course, some people were also quite happy with this situation, like some dudes from the second team or even the U-19 teams that got promoted early this pre-season. They felt like this was their chance to show off their ability to their head coach, so they had been trying so hard to impress everyone with their skill.

Unfortunately, what mattered the most for a striker was their ability to deliver a goal, and while they had been doing well so far, today, two weeks since the pre-season training began, they finally met the final boss.

Ryusuke Higo, the most talented goalkeeper in the country right now and also the one hailed by the supporters as the reason why the team managed to survive last season, was finally back on the pitch.

"Oh! Fuck it, you are finally getting the green light?!" Omar Mascarell grinned, messing with Higo’s hair fondly. "Man, with you being on the back, those kids who always want to show off will have a nightmare!"

"Oh, stop it, Omar-san! My hair has just gotten fixed by my girlfriend!" Higo scowled while trying to dodge the big hand on his head. However, it was clear from his grin that the boy was ecstatic right now.

He still remembered full well the conversation he had with the doctor yesterday.

"Wait, what? Sorry, can you repeat your words?" Higo blinked, wondering if his ears had started to play tricks right now.

"You heard it correctly. You can start practicing normally again from tomorrow." The doctor said with a flat face, as if he was telling the weather outside right now. "Your shoulder has already regained adequate strength, movement, and stability by now, and your confidence with that is also clear by day. I will still require you to do one more check-up, potentially three days before you play a game, but for a normal training session, you can join the team tomorrow."

That night, Higo cried like a baby.

He told Kumiko, and the girl hugged him so tightly, silently sobbing into his arms.

The boy also called his family back home, and both Minami and Ayaka cheered in joy, letting tears roll down their face.

Even Sakura had a single teardrop from the corner of her eye before wiping it away quickly.

Even though two months was quite a short time for an injury recovery, they all knew how hard that period was for Higo. They witnessed with their own eyes the hardship that Higo had to endure even in his daily life, how the boy poured all his sweat into his recovery, the anxious and irritated phase, and even the uncertainty that followed every check-up session.

Now that everything was finally paid off, they couldn’t help but feel happy for the boy.

"Come on, Omar-san! I cannot wait for my first ever training session this season!" Higo grinned, starting to run and leave the Spaniard behind.

The rest of the team also gave a warm welcome to the boy. Even Frohling took his time to approach Higo, chatting for a while about his current situation before the man gave him words of caution.

"Even though you have already been cleared to go back to the training session, don’t get too excited. Keep a steady performance and don’t put burden on your shoulder, okay?"

Higo could feel his heart warm at the man’s concern, ignoring the envious gazes that he received from the others. It was an open secret that the man loved the two Japanese players on this team, probably even more than his own children.

Well, they were indeed the ones who held the sky for the team on the pitch, so any complaint had to be swallowed back down their throats, as they all knew that Higo and Morita had all the right to receive this kind of special treatment.

Soon enough, Higo had already gathered with the other goalkeepers, and with the help of Simon Henzler, the team’s goalkeeping coach, the boy finally started his first proper training in two months.

"Come on, Higo! Let’s see if your reaction is still there!"

"Well, Onegaisimashu, Sensei!"

Right after that, the man started bombarding Higo with shot after shot. However, it wasn’t a normal shot; an obstacle was put between the man and the goalkeeper that would make the ball bounce randomly at the last second.

This was a pure chaos training session that forced Higo to react faster as time went by.

The boy himself was struggling at first. After all, even though his clairvoyant ability managed to guide him to where he should go, his body hadn’t adapted to the intensity yet, still trying to get used to being back at the job of diving and falling again.

Somehow, his brain managed to see where the ball would be, but his body couldn’t keep up, making him concede a few goals at the beginning.

However, after a while, the boy finally showed the shade of himself before he got injured. His movement got sharper, and the saves he made also became more difficult as time went by. Even Simon Hanzler couldn’t help but raise one of his eyebrows slightly when he saw this.

’Yeah, no wonder he is hailed as the most talented goalkeeper in the country right now... It only takes 30 minutes before his muscle memory kicks in again. Damn, a freak like him sure is a cheat code, huh?’

After around one hour of training, Simon Hanzler finally blew the whistle, stopping the four goalkeepers around him from any further action.

"The goalkeeping session is over! Get ready for a simulation game!"
