The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game

Chapter 418: The Resistance Leader Turns Out to Be the Governor of a Strategic Frontier

  • Next Chapter

Qi Suian headed toward the location provided by Golem, a member of the resistance, intending to check out their headquarters.

As for the two Blood Race Sacred Artifacts in his possession, Qi Suian had already studied them.

Because he wasn’t a member of the Blood Race, he couldn’t actively use either of them.

The Rot Bracelet wasn’t so bad. It passively emanated various diseases, which was a continuous benefit and a passive buff for Qi Suian.

Not only could it promote the mutation of the Abyssal Virus, but it also made him stronger through the diseases it caused.

The Blood Chalice, on the other hand, was a complete no-go.

After taking a single sip, Qi Suian died on the spot.

It seemed to be an effect akin to a rule-based toxin or outright erasure.

He couldn’t use it because his race didn’t match.

To the Blood Race, it was a panacea, but to Qi Suian, it was nothing but a poison.

It was the same principle as humans being able to eat chocolate while dogs can’t.

After some research, Qi Suian couldn’t figure out a use for it; in his hands, that particular Blood Race Sacred Artifact was completely useless.

’This world’s value has dropped again.’

’Looks like my only option is to find a way to end the world quickly and provoke the Doomsday Game into leaving the Blood Race World,’ Qi Suian muttered to himself.

Fuel decay, Extraordinary-class limitations, equipment prerequisites... all of these meant Qi Suian’s potential gains were severely limited.

Of course, there was still some value to be had. The Blood Bath Queen and the Son of the Dragon were huge prizes.

The problem was, at his current stage, Qi Suian couldn’t defeat them.

’He had to rely on a death potion just to deal with a mere clone. To face the real body, would he need to activate some kind of protagonist plot armor?’

Since there were no benefits to be gained and it was also quite dangerous, Qi Suian naturally wanted to leave.

The downside was also obvious. Because there were no other survivors, he was the only one left, which made it difficult to trigger the limited-time event for a New World Pass.

’The Blood Race World probably wasn’t a Doomsday World chosen by the Doomsday Game. It was more likely an emergency landing.’

’So if it doesn’t recover, the next Doomsday World it selects will also be extremely volatile.’

Normally, the Doomsday Game has a complete process for selecting a Doomsday World.

Although the Doomsday Game was stingy and petty, it still provided a glimmer of hope and time to develop for the survivors—with the exception of a rule-breaker like Qi Suian.

This time, however... it wasn’t that there was *nothing*, but the Blood Race World just didn’t work. Whether it was Divine Techniques or the powers of the Blood Race, none of it was attainable.

Faith? Sure, but the problem was that you would become a zealot, which meant becoming a puppet of your lord.

It’s hard for a sound-minded adult to change their way of thinking.

’The Sacred Artifacts are certainly tough. Not even a Dark Energy Beam can destroy them.’

’The Melting Furnace probably can’t melt them either. Maybe if I collect all thirteen Sacred Artifacts, I’ll be able to obtain the World Core.’

Qi Suian had actually discovered something else: the Doomsday Game’s injuries were even more severe than he had imagined.

It couldn’t even display the attribute panels for the Blood Race Sacred Artifacts. Otherwise, they should have been S-rank equipment at the very least.

’First, I need to find a way to collect all thirteen Blood Race Sacred Artifacts, and then I’ll think about destroying the world.’ Qi Suian’s strength was limited; he had no way to destroy a world on his own.

For now, he could only take it one step at a time.

If he could really get his hands on the World Core, perhaps Qi Suian could not only escape the Doomsday Game but also turn the tables and become the master.

’But it’ll all come down to luck.’

’And I’ll have to fight at least one major boss and one minor boss.’ The major boss Qi Suian mentioned was naturally the missing Piercing Demon, and the minor boss was his son, the Son of the Dragon.

One had the Corpse Hand, and the other had the Slaughter Knife. Since he wanted to collect them all, he couldn’t avoid these two.

’There are still ways to beat them, though.’

’I can’t use Blood Race powers or Divine Techniques, but if I can fully research Enhancement Stones, Enchantment Stones, and Refining Stones, I could give my modules an all-around boost.’

’My strength would increase again. I might not be able to win, but snatching the artifacts and running shouldn’t be a problem.’

As he pondered, Qi Suian had Fei land.

According to the intelligence he had gathered along the way, the resistance headquarters was right here.

’How did this group of rebels manage it...’

’He was a Tax Collector in Brasov City, and now he’s the Governor of Oladia City, a major northern border stronghold.’

That’s right. The resistance headquarters was located in the Governor’s Mansion, with its doors wide open for all to see.

Many of the officials were even members of the resistance.

But on second thought, it made sense. For one, the Emperor’s influence was weak this far out. Although it was a major border city, that also meant it wasn’t a very desirable post.

Few Blood Race from the Secret Faction were willing to come and govern here, so the resistance likely took advantage of this opening to infiltrate.

Now, all of Oladia City could be considered the resistance’s territory. However, just like the Secret Faction, they didn’t control the government openly.

The Blood Race couldn’t see the light of day, and neither could the resistance.

The main difference was the reason. The Blood Race was literally unable to be active during the day, giving them a physical limitation.

The resistance, on the other hand, simply lacked the strength and influence. Otherwise, why would they be lying low? They would have marched on the capital long ago.

"Halt! This is the Governor’s Mansion. Who are you looking for?" Two guards in armor holding long spears blocked Qi Suian’s path.

They didn’t recognize Qi Suian. If he was here to see the Governor, he would have had an appointment and would need to arrive at a specific time.

Arriving early or late meant you couldn’t get in.

If you were early, you could wait. If you were late, there was no chance of getting in at all.

"I’m looking for the Governor," Qi Suian said bluntly.

The Governor of Oladia City was the leader of the resistance. As for which identity came first, Qi Suian didn’t know.

"There are no visitors with appointments today. Please leave," the guard said. He naturally remembered the scheduled appointments and times.

It was part of his duty, after all.

Just as Qi Suian was thinking about circling around and flying in, he saw someone coming out of the Governor’s Mansion.

It was an old man, nearly seventy, dressed in simple clothes that nevertheless had an air of distinction.

He was accompanied by several Guards, who looked like skilled fighters at a glance.

"Soros? The Governor of Oladia City?" Qi Suian asked directly.

Don’t be fooled by his age; hidden beneath his clothes were solid, powerful muscles.

Even a young man in his prime might not be his match.

Furthermore, judging by the way he walked, he was constantly alert and aware of his surroundings. He would definitely be ruthless in a fight.

"I am. However, I’m afraid I don’t have time to speak with you."

"I have some official business to attend to right now. Please make an appointment with the guard. Say, eight o’clock tomorrow morning. He will bring you to my study to see me," Soros said before Qi Suian could speak.

His attitude wasn’t arrogant or dismissive. On the contrary, he was kind and amiable, like a friendly neighborhood grandpa.

And his meaning was clear: ’It’s not that I don’t want to help, I’m just busy right now. Come by tomorrow, and we’ll discuss how to resolve your issue.’

As for what problem Qi Suian wanted to resolve, or whether he could even resolve it, that wasn’t part of his consideration.

He didn’t recognize the man before him, so he just treated him as an ordinary commoner.

What kind of request could a commoner possibly have? It would likely be easy to solve, and doing so would also enhance his reputation—a win-win situation.

After speaking, Soros brushed past Qi Suian, boarded a carriage, and left.

"News just came in. The resistance squad in Brasov City was wiped out."

"The Blood Bath Queen only sent a clone. Her real body is leading an army to reinforce the Son of the Dragon."

"So, we need to quickly insert another resistance squad into Brasov City to act as our eyes and ears."

"Brasov City is an economic hub for the Transylvania Kingdom. We must have timely intelligence," Soros said to the people in the carriage, outlining the follow-up arrangements.

"I know about that. Golem was the one who told me to find you," Qi Suian interjected.

Soros’s expression froze. He whipped his head around to look at Qi Suian.

He had no idea when the other man had gotten into the carriage.

"So you’re the mysterious person who captured the Blood Prince, Oliver?" Soros didn’t panic. He quickly composed himself and asked the question.

"Yes, that’s me," Qi Suian said plainly. "Golem told me you were looking for me, so I came."

"Also, Golem said you have one of the Blood Race Sacred Artifacts, the Execution Axe, and that you could give it to me as a greeting gift," Qi Suian said without a hint of hesitation, making it up on the spot.

Soros ignored the part about a greeting gift and said, "You’re a step too late. I sent the Execution Axe to the front lines for the Daywalker to use as a weapon against the Blood Race."

There was no need to hide this, because it was all true.

The battle between the Daywalker and the Son of the Dragon on the main front between the Church and the Blood Race was something everyone had witnessed.

-----------------

"Sect Leader, Pastor Roy has arrived. He brought the Soul Ring." The Archbishop hurriedly led Pastor Roy to the Daywalker, Alex.

At that moment, the Daywalker had just repelled the Son of the Dragon once more. His left arm was torn off at the root and was now slowly regenerating.

"Excellent. Thank you for escorting the Soul Ring here. This is very timely." The Daywalker didn’t bother with pleasantries and thanked him directly.

Without any hesitation, Pastor Roy handed the Soul Ring, one of the Blood Race Sacred Artifacts, over to the Daywalker.

"Sect Leader, according to the records, the Soul Ring possesses an extremely evil power."

"It can twist the mind and incite mad thoughts. You must use it with caution," Pastor Roy warned.

"Rest assured, I will only use it on the Blood Race and their ghouls."

"With the Soul Ring, I should be able to better alleviate the current situation." The Daywalker rubbed his temples, feeling only exhaustion.

Thankfully, the special property of the Execution Axe prevented the Son of the Dragon’s wounds from healing; otherwise, he wouldn’t have lasted this long.

The Soul Ring’s power was useless against the Son of the Dragon, but it was effective against the vast numbers of Blood Race and their ghouls.

As long as it could twist their minds and cause a rebellion within their ranks, the pressure on the Church would be greatly reduced.

"It’s a pity none of you are half-human, half-Blood Race. Otherwise, if you could use it, my life would be much easier."

The Daywalker sighed and then said, "You’ve had a long journey, Pastor Roy. Get some rest. We’ll need your help on the battlefield as well."

’Since you’re here, don’t even think about leaving. Stay and fight. Every extra person helps.’
