Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Peculiarly Colored Embroidered Butterflyfish

Wu Cuicui didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when she heard this. "Second Uncle, you’ve really been traumatized by Jianming!"

Yang Zhigang sighed, filled with emotion. "Yeah, whenever I think about all the stupid shit he’s done, my guts twist with anger!"

"Now he’s just dusted his hands of it and gone off to the other side of the ocean. To be honest, if I just pretend I don’t have that son, I might even live a few years longer."

"Pingping and An’an, in their current condition, are already a bit weaker than ordinary children. They need even more protection."

"Even though they have a capable mother like Xiao Rui and a doting grandfather like me, sometimes what they need more is a strong, tall, and formidable father."

"Besides, I’m at my age now! Even if I can protect Pingping and An’an while they grow up, I can’t protect them forever."

"Ye Feng is still young. With a capable father like him around, after I’m gone, he can protect Pingping and An’an for another twenty years. He can be there to support the two children in the future."

"From that perspective, Ye Feng is a benefactor to our Yang Family. I’m too busy being grateful to complain."

Yang Jianguo scratched his forehead. "I have to say, Second Uncle, you see things very clearly."

Yang Zhigang smiled. "At my age, you learn what’s important and what’s good. You filter out the rest to make life a little easier."

Wu Cuicui made tea for her second uncle. "Hearing you say that, Second Uncle, makes me respect you even more."

"What about that traitorous bastard Lin Yongfu? What’s happened to him now?"

Yang Zhigang replied, "There’s a major crackdown on crime right now, so Lin Yongfu and Luo Guang received heavy sentences! As for that Japanese man, there was no evidence, and he’s overseas, so they had to drop it."

"What about Lin Yongfu’s wife and kids? Are they causing trouble everywhere?"

Wu Cuicui said with disgust in her voice, "If it were just petty theft, it might not have caused such public outrage in the village."

"But kidnapping children is just too vicious! With the family planning policy now, every household can only have one child, so they’re truly treated like the apple of their eye, their precious darlings."

"Kidnapping a child is like gouging out someone’s eyes or digging out their heart. Now, wherever they go, people spit at them. No one wants anything to do with them."

"The always-arrogant Miao Xiaofen has been beaten up several times. As the family member of a village official, she bullied her fair share of people. She deserves getting beaten now."

"I heard today that they’re selling their house and planning to move back to her family’s hometown!"

Yang Zhigang nodded after hearing this. "That’s how it should be. Whether they knew about it or not, there’s no place for their family in Jinshan Bay anymore."

"Otherwise, what’s to stop anyone who’s short on cash from trying to kidnap our kids? How could we live like that?"

Yang Zhigang was a kind-hearted man, but he could be ruthless to outsiders.

Did they really think it was over just because Lin Yongfu was in prison?

As long as Lin Yongfu’s family remained in Jinshan Bay, Yang Zhigang would not have let his son off the hook. Even if he didn’t kill him, he would have crippled him.

Yang Jianguo nodded. "I understand, Second Uncle!"

Yang Zhigang warned him, "As long as you understand. If it really comes to that, don’t you be the one to act rashly."

"I’m here. You don’t need to get your hands dirty with that kind of stuff. Anyway, at my age, I’ve seen it all and can let anything go."

Yang Jianguo was moved. His second uncle was still just like before, a towering tree that sheltered them.

Second Sister-in-law Lin, her conscience heavy, sold the house at a reduced price and bought two rooms in the city that very night, taking her son with her.

This was on Lin Yongfu’s orders. He had told them to leave Jinshan Bay immediately and not to stay there.

Lin Yongfu was terrified he would hear news in prison that his son had disappeared, or been crippled.

Everyone else thought Yang Zhigang was a pushover, but Lin Yongfu had personally witnessed his ruthlessness.

Jinshan Bay fell quiet once more.

Pingping and An’an had already gotten used to having Wu Jiao and Wu Yao put them to bed.

Han Xiaorui returned to the boat, fishing with everyone again.

The ship owner hadn’t been with them for the last three trips out to sea.

Although they had caught some fish, they hadn’t made much money.

Everyone had gotten used to it, but they were still eagerly waiting for the ship owner to finish her family matters and take them fishing on the open sea.

Standing on the boat, Han Xiaorui closed her eyes to rest, smelling the sea breeze and feeling the sun on the water, her whole body relaxing.

She still belonged to the sea.

And the sea seemed to welcome her return, the gentle breeze caressing her cheeks, soft and warm.

Chen Yishui stood next to Han Xiaorui and sighed in appreciation. "It’s a truly clear and crisp autumn day, with a nice breeze."

"With our ship owner fishing with us, we’re bound to have another great harvest this time!"

Han Xiaorui smiled. "Sister Shui, it’s not as amazing as you make it sound!"

Chen Yishui waved it off. "You don’t have to be modest. People like us, who make our living on the sea, believe in the gods, in Mazu, and in the Dragon King."

"Even if the most unbelievable things happen, we don’t question them. We just see it as a gift from the gods, a sign of Mazu’s favor."

Liang Xiaoyu deeply agreed. "That’s just how it is. Don’t feel any pressure about it."

"If people are jealous or unconvinced, well, the sea is right here. If they’ve got the skill, they can come fish too. No one’s stopping them!"

The logic was as simple as that.

The fishermen’s thinking was also simple: a boat captain who could lead them to fish was a good ship owner.

Once they reached the deep sea, Xiao Dai and its friends appeared.

The little dolphins leaped continuously from the water, their calls cheerful.

Han Xiaorui roamed the seabed from Xiao Dai’s perspective.

Out on the sea to fish, the first thing Han Xiaorui naturally did was use her ability to check if there were any fish in the nets.

The moment she looked, Han Xiaorui’s eyes lit up.

Her luck was as good as ever. The net was already filled with shimmering golden fish.

Golden-colored sea fish were never cheap.

Han Xiaorui checked her watch and said to Chen Yishui, "Sister Shui, let’s pull up the net!"

Chen Yishui had just been waiting for Han Xiaorui’s order. "You got it! Right away!"

Everyone watched with anticipation as the net was hauled up.

Under the shining sun, a golden light glinted from the gaps in the net’s mesh.

"I hope they’re Big Yellow Fish!" everyone exclaimed, overcome with excitement.

Liang Xiaoyu gave Han Xiaorui a push. "Ship Owner, you undo the net!"

Han Xiaorui didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "You really don’t have to be so formal."

"No way! You’re our good luck charm! You have to be the one to open the net. We’re all counting on you to bring us a good catch."

Unable to refuse their enthusiasm, Han Xiaorui opened the net.

A flash of yellow met her eyes as fish came flopping onto the deck with a THWAP THWAP THWAP. Everyone quickly gathered around.

A few of them took a closer look and exclaimed, "We caught Yellowlip Fish today! And there are some big ones!"

Chen Yishui urged, "Such good fish! Let’s process them quickly!"

Han Xiaorui picked out a few and placed them in the live well, planning to give them to those aquaculture professors. They could serve as research subjects to hopefully allow for the fish to be farmed soon.

Everyone was beaming with joy, marveling that their good luck had returned.

Laughing and chatting, they sorted the fish, overjoyed.

Just then, someone cried out in surprise, "Oh my god, what is this?"

Everyone crowded around to look at several jet-black fish flopping about. They had white spots on their bodies that looked like little points of light.

Chen Yishui, being more experienced, said, "This should be a type of butterflyfish, but this strange coloration is very rare."

A sharp glint in her eyes, Han Xiaorui rushed over with a bucket and quickly put all the fish inside. "This is the Wrought Iron Butterflyfish, also called the Japanese Black Butterflyfish. I’ve seen them in ornamental fish shops in Japan. They’re incredibly expensive."

(The Wrought Iron Butterflyfish, also called the Japanese Black Butterflyfish. They are rare and very expensive, but easy to raise.)
