Chapter 327: He Was Actually Right
Chapter 327: Chapter 327: He Was Actually Right
Yao Ziqian spoke in a calm, unhurried manner, as if even the most monumental of matters wasn’t a big deal to him.
He had a leisurely air about him, his temperament likely calm and steady from having trained beside Master Zhao since he was a child.
And he was so handsome, too!
Otherwise, Wu Lingling, who had a weakness for handsome faces, would never have been so taken with Yao Ziqian.
Most importantly, he had great taste. The clothes he bought for Wu Lingling always fit her perfectly and were absolutely beautiful.
Wu Lingling hugged Yao Ziqian. "Yao Ziqian, thank you for coming here for me."
"Silly girl, what’s there to thank me for? I came here for you because I like you. If you want to thank someone, thank my future father and mother-in-law for bringing such a wonderful person into the world and raising you so well."
His words made Wu Lingling beam. "You really have a way with words. My parents are sure to approve."
Yao Ziqian chuckled. "I make my living with this mouth of mine. It wouldn’t do if I couldn’t talk."
Wu Lingling took Yao Ziqian to a hotel to check in and drop off his things. "Let’s get something to eat first. I’ll call Lawyer Chen. He owns a real estate agency that deals with existing homes, so he has a lot of listings."
"We’ll have to pay a commission, but it’s more convenient than searching on our own, and we’ll find a better place."
Yao Ziqian smiled. "Sounds good. I’m a stranger here and don’t know my way around, so I’ll be counting on you from now on."
Wu Lingling smiled softly. "Of course. I grew up here. Now that you’re with me, I’ll naturally look after you. And don’t worry about money. What I make in a year is more than enough for the both of us."
Yao Ziqian nodded. "Okay. I want to open a Humanistic Environment Research Studio. It’s the kind of business where you might not get a client for years, but one job can feed you for the next three. It’s a bit difficult to make money at the start."
"But my sister suggested I open a clothing store here. She’ll handle the sourcing for me. With her eye for fashion, a boutique should be profitable."
Hearing this, Wu Lingling’s eyes lit up. "So the clothes you bought me before... you didn’t pick them out? Your sister did?"
Yao Ziqian corrected her, "She’s *our* sister now. Her eye for fashion is excellent. She’s a manager over there and patrols the wholesale market three times a day—morning, noon, and night. She knows exactly who has new stock and whose quality is the best."
"If we open a clothing business, none of the vendors would dare to rip us off. So we don’t have to worry about sourcing. Plus, our sister’s taste is impeccable, which saves us trips to Guangdong to stock up."
Wu Lingling’s eyes danced with delight. "That’s wonderful! We can just hire a couple of salesclerks, and the boutique will be up and running."
Yao Ziqian nodded. Before coming, he had discussed everything with his master, his parents, and his sister.
He had considered every possibility before traveling so far from home in the name of love.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t bear to leave his parents; after all, he hadn’t grown up by their side. He thought of them fondly but wasn’t dependent on them.
His sister was married, and her husband was a good man who treated their parents well.
Even with him gone, they would take good care of his parents.
His sister was also the one who’d thought of this money-making plan for him. After all, she knew her brother’s way of earning a living was unique. It was easier in Yue Province under his master’s wing, but it would be difficult to start from scratch in a new place.
So she suggested he use her resources to open a clothing store.
His future sister-in-law, Wu Lingling, loved fashion, so opening a boutique seemed like a perfect fit.
The person Yao Ziqian was most reluctant to leave was his master, but unexpectedly, his master was the one who most supported his decision to head north for love.
He had assumed his master was just helping him achieve his romantic dream, but he never expected that just before he left, his master would instruct him to build a good relationship with Wu Lingling’s boss, Han Xiaorui, and to send some "good merchandise" his way in the future.
Though he was a bit disappointed, Yao Ziqian knew his master meant well.
So, he packed his things, and with the money from his master, his parents, and his sister, along with his own savings from over the years, he came to Shencheng.
Wu Lingling took Yao Ziqian to a local Shanghainese restaurant. The food was delicious, and Yao Ziqian found it to his liking.
Having followed his master all over the country for the past few years, even traveling to Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia, he was well-traveled and highly adaptable to new things.
After their meal, Wu Lingling took Yao Ziqian to Nanyang Law Firm.
As luck would have it, Chen Nanyang was there, inspecting the work at his Nanyang Second-Hand Homes agency.
Seeing Wu Lingling, Chen Nanyang smiled. "Well, well, what wind blew our great Store Manager Wu over here? And who is this fine young man with you?"
Wu Lingling made the introductions. "Lawyer Chen, this is my boyfriend, Yao Ziqian. He’s from Yue Province and is the last disciple of the great Feng Shui Master, Zhao Lide."
Chen Nanyang was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled. "A Feng Shui Master, eh!"
"I wouldn’t call myself a master, I just know a little," Yao Ziqian said with an air of nonchalance, truly looking the part of an unworldly expert.
Chen Nanyang asked curiously, "What are you buying a house for?"
Wu Lingling answered, "Yao Ziqian came to Shencheng for me, and now he wants to buy a property to open his Humanistic Environment Research Studio."
"And the clothing store," Yao Ziqian reminded her.
Wu Lingling replied, "A boutique would be better off in a shopping mall. There’s no rush for that, just leave it to me."
"Okay, I’ll listen to you." Yao Ziqian had a gentle temperament and wasn’t one to fuss over such details.
Chen Nanyang looked from Wu Lingling to Yao Ziqian and smiled. "Alright, I’ll have my manager find the most suitable property for you. Ziqian, why don’t you take a look at the feng shui of this place for me, and I’ll waive your commission fee."
At this, Yao Ziqian smiled. "Then I’d be happy to offer my humble opinion. This isn’t your main business, so this location’s effect on you is minor. Let’s go upstairs."
Chen Nanyang paused. "Alright, let’s go upstairs and take a look."
Wu Lingling stayed to look at properties with the manager, while Yao Ziqian went upstairs with Chen Nanyang.
Sure enough, after Yao Ziqian gave him a few pointers, it really made a difference. The space immediately felt more harmonious and comfortable.
"Mr. Chen, your previous layout was indeed good for accumulating wealth, but it’s too aggressive. For long-term development, you need stability. What’s more, while you’ve certainly made more money, your prospects for marriage have been delayed. Your relationships tend to end shortly after they begin, don’t they? It doesn’t matter whether you’re the one pursuing them or they’re the one pursuing you, it always fizzles out in the end, right?"
Chen Nanyang froze. This was a private matter.
Never mind Wu Lingling—not even her boss, Han Xiaorui, knew about it.
Yao Ziqian, who had just arrived from the south, couldn’t possibly know. And yet, this kid had hit the nail right on the head.
Chen Nanyang was stunned. "But I never hired a Feng Shui Master to create a formation for me! The design firm I hired did all this!"
Yao Ziqian frowned slightly. "Then there are only two possibilities. One is that the design firm, targeting your company’s singular focus on profit, set up a ’wealth-attracting formation’ for you. It satisfied your intense desire for profit but neglected your needs in other areas."
"The other possibility is that someone bribed the design firm to intentionally set up this wealth-attracting formation for you. It helps your business flourish and brings in a great deal of money, but at the same time, it severs all of your romantic prospects! Both the good and the bad."
Hearing this, a chill ran down Chen Nanyang’s spine. He remembered how even a woman whose circumstances were in every way inferior to his had ended up disdaining him and insisting on a breakup.
Chen Nanyang had been utterly baffled by it. He’d once spent a full half-hour studying his own reflection in the mirror.
He had the looks, the height, the family background, and a successful career.
’I have everything. I can do anything I set my mind to. So why am I so hopelessly unlucky in love?’
