Chapter 331: The Feng Shui Indeed Needs to Be Changed
Chapter 331: Chapter 331: The Feng Shui Indeed Needs to Be Changed
It was Sunday, so there were a lot of kids outside.
Back then, even if a family had a television, there weren’t many shows for kids to watch.
It was impossible to keep these little monkeys cooped up at home, so they all ran out to play.
Even the ones doing homework at home got ants in their pants and couldn’t sit still the moment they heard their playmates laughing and shouting outside.
Pingping and An’an’s paper pinwheels immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
Ye Feng had brought colored paper, so he taught everyone how to make them.
They were very simple and easy to learn.
And so, almost every child in the village ended up with their own clover-shaped paper pinwheel, running and laughing as they watched them spin.
Ye Feng looking after the children had become a common sight in Jinshan Bay, and the village kids absolutely adored Uncle Ye.
Because Uncle Ye was amazing—he could make anything!
Regardless of whether they were boys or girls, whenever Ye Feng appeared in the village with Pingping and An’an, a crowd of children would immediately flock to them.
In comparison, their own fathers didn’t seem to know how to do anything. Ye Feng was putting the other young fathers of Jinshan Bay to shame, and they felt the pressure.
One by one, to avoid being nagged by their wives and mothers, they started joining in on child-rearing duties whenever they had free time.
Ye Feng was a gregarious man and quickly hit it off with everyone.
Meanwhile, Wu Lingling took Yao Ziqian out for a walk. After being "interrogated" by her father and sister back at the house, Yao Ziqian must have been very nervous.
"Lingling, Ms. Han just said she wants to hire me as her company’s cultural and environmental research consultant. Could you show me which plot of land she acquired?"
Wu Lingling thought Yao Ziqian was worried about making a living. "Ziqian, you really don’t have to push yourself so hard. I make good money, enough to support the both of us. Besides, with the inventory my sister can get for us, we can still open a clothing store."
Yao Ziqian waved a hand dismissively. "I’m not tired. This is my trade! I love it! Don’t worry, just think of it as you showing me the local environment."
Seeing Yao Ziqian’s insistence, Wu Lingling took him for a stroll around the area.
They rode around on their bicycles for over two hours.
If Wu Lingling hadn’t hurried him along, Yao Ziqian would have kept going!
But it was his first visit, and it wouldn’t be right to make his future in-laws wait for him to eat dinner.
During dinner, Uncle Wu advised, "Ziqian, when you do the Feng Shui and environmental assessment for Xiao Rui’s company, don’t take any money for it."
Yao Ziqian smiled. "Okay! Uncle, don’t you worry. Feng Shui isn’t as complicated or sinister as you might think. People don’t go around deliberately messing with ancestral graves to bring ruin and death upon a family."
Wu Cuicui froze. "Ziqian, you said ’deliberately’... but do people really tamper with other people’s ancestral graves? Is that a real thing?"
"Well..." Yao Ziqian was at a loss for words. "That’s highly taboo! Ordinary people wouldn’t do such things, and a true Feng Shui Master almost never would. Unless they were forced into a desperate corner!"
Hearing this, Wu Cuicui’s eyes widened. "So it really can bring ruin and death to a family?"
Although Uncle Wu didn’t ask, his expression was also serious as he waited for the answer.
Yao Ziqian scratched the tip of his nose. ’How should I put this?’
’If I say it has no effect, won’t that make me seem incompetent?’
’But if I say it does have an effect, won’t I just sound like some mystical, sinister charlatan?’
Seeing his predicament, Wu Lingling grew a little displeased. "He already said it’s a taboo subject, so why do you keep asking about it?"
Wu Cuicui gave her sister an exasperated look, seeing her side with an outsider. "We’re just curious, aren’t we? We’re about to become family, so should we still be keeping secrets from each other?"
Yao Ziqian smiled. "First of all, this isn’t something just anyone can do! It requires a perfect alignment of timing, location, and human factors, as well as a great deal of preparation. The vast majority of Feng Shui Masters are incapable of achieving something like that. I certainly can’t, though my master probably could."
"Second, such an act goes against the harmony of the natural order. Even if it were to work, it would create a backlash against the person who did it. For a true Feng Shui Master, they would never resort to such a measure unless it was a matter of life and death."
"It’s equivalent to the saying, ’To kill one thousand enemies, you must sacrifice eight hundred of your own.’ Even if you manage to destroy your enemy, you won’t live much longer yourself."
Hearing this, Uncle Wu and Wu Cuicui exchanged a look and breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as Yao Ziqian was a man of good character, they would approve of the marriage.
Otherwise, they would genuinely worry that one of these Feng Shui Masters might snap and do something unthinkable!
Aunt Wu smiled, and the look she gave Yao Ziqian grew more and more approving. She was already starting to see herself as his future mother-in-law.
"Anyone can see that Ziqian is an upright man; he wouldn’t do such foolish things! We’ll just stick to the Feng Shui of homes for the living, things like planning, and stay away from that difficult, thankless work."
Yao Ziqian nodded. "Aunt Wu is right. To put it simply, what we Feng Shui Masters do is planning. Forget for a moment that when ordinary people build a house, they need someone to help them choose an auspicious date and location for breaking ground."
"Even today, with major real estate developments and shopping malls, they all hire us for a consultation before they open. There are just certain things that are best to avoid."
"Even if you don’t look at it from a traditional Feng Shui perspective, planning is still necessary from the viewpoint of public convenience and improving the urban environment."
"Just now, while Lingling and I were exploring the area, I did notice a few poorly planned spots. After dinner, I’ll go talk to Ms. Han about them."
Uncle Wu was taken aback. "What’s wrong with it?"
Yao Ziqian smiled. "Overall, it should be fine. But there’s one road that directly faces a wind tunnel in Jinshan Bay."
"I suspect the on-site survey was conducted in the winter, so the planners didn’t take summer typhoons into account. With the current design, even if a person could keep their footing on that road, the wind would be miserably strong."
"In Feng Shui, we would classify this as a form of ’Sha,’ or negative energy. After being battered by strong winds for an entire summer, even a healthy person would eventually be worn down."
"Year after year, it would take a toll on people’s health and cause significant damage to the buildings. It needs to be changed."
Hearing Yao Ziqian’s explanation, it dawned on Uncle Wu. "You’re right, the planning was done in the winter! So that’s what Feng Shui is about!"
Yao Ziqian smiled. "It was never that complicated! It’s simply about taking into account astronomical and geographical patterns, along with various human factors, to find the optimal plan that best serves people."
"It really isn’t about all that mystical, paranormal stuff! Of course, one should still have a sense of reverence. You don’t have to believe in gods and spirits, but you shouldn’t be disrespectful toward them."
Aunt Wu nodded repeatedly. "Exactly! If something exists, there’s usually a reason for it. You can’t just dismiss it all outright."
"Cuicui’s dad," she said to her husband, "from now on, you don’t have to believe in it, but you can’t stop me, and you certainly can’t be disrespectful about it."
Uncle Wu took a sip of his wine. "I know, I know. You talk too much."
After dinner, Wu Lingling and Yao Ziqian went to visit Han Xiaorui.
As soon as she saw them, Han Xiaorui waved them over. "Lingling, Ziqian, come have a seat. Perfect timing, I actually have something I wanted to ask your advice on."
Speak of the devil, she had just been talking about Yao Ziqian, and here he was.
