Chapter 361: Chapter 361: Recipes Are Also Valuable
Ye Feng was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and nodded. "Of course. I’ll protect you."
This was Kuno Hiroo’s pledge of allegiance, as well as an apology.
Han Xiaorui went over everything from beginning to end and finally understood.
No wonder Ye Feng often said Kuno Hiroo was a very shrewd man.
Although he was a patriot, he loved the Kuno Family more.
It was just like the great aristocratic families of the old feudal society.
What did it matter if the Emperor on the throne changed? The great families remained the same.
The scions of these families always prioritized protecting their family’s interests.
Now, Kuno Hiroo had clearly been set up by someone back in his home country. To secure his retreat path here in Hua Country, he had sold out the other party without a second thought.
This was also a reminder that there were many people and companies like that, and that his technology was not useless—in fact, it was leading in many areas.
’Don’t be fooled by so-called ’friendship’ and just share your most advanced technology.’
’Science has no borders, but technology does. Technicians and scientists have borders, too.’
In light of the information Kuno Hiroo had brought, and because the collaborative project was very promising, Han Xiaorui had someone invite Granny Cai over to prepare a lavish Japanese meal for Kuno Hiroo using the tuna.
Although it was styled as Japanese cuisine, it incorporated some unique ingredients from Hua Country, making it taste even better.
Kuno Hiroo’s eyes lit up. "Ms. Cai, can you tell me how all this was made? Of course, Ms. Cai, I will pay to buy all the recipes!"
Seeing that Kuno Hiroo not only praised her cooking but was also willing to pay for her recipes, Granny Cai said, "There’s no need for money. If you think it’s delicious, I’ll write down the methods for you to take back later!"
Hearing this, Kuno Hiroo shook his head repeatedly. "These recipes are a valuable treasure. You worked hard to develop them."
"If I were just taking them back for my home chef to cook for me, that would be one thing. But I intend to use them for commercial promotion. I have mid-to-high-end restaurants in most major cities in Japan. I’ll be using these to make money."
"If I took your cultural treasure for free and made a lot of money, you might not know now, but you would eventually find out. Then I would become a thief."
Kuno Hiroo wasn’t a man of high morals and he had few scruples, but he approached almost everything from a business perspective.
Han Xiaorui smiled. "How about this, Hiroo? Think of it like paying royalties for a book. The dishes my godmother makes are the result of her meticulous development and research. They cost her time, effort, and her precious culinary talent."
Kuno Hiroo nodded again and again. "Exactly. I’ll inquire back in my country about what a suitable royalty fee would be for a single recipe or a cookbook."
"Of course, since I’m buying these recipes, you can only make the dishes for yourself. You can’t sell them to anyone else!"
Han Xiaorui thought for a moment, then replied, "In that case, we would only be selling you the rights for Japan. We won’t sell them to any other Japanese people!"
"If my godmother wants to open a restaurant, or even a Japanese restaurant, in this country in the future, she should be able to. Do you think that’s acceptable?"
Kuno Hiroo thought about it and nodded. "That’s acceptable! If I decide to open Japanese restaurants in Hua Country, I can just buy the rights for here from you then, right?"
Hearing this, Granny Cai was stunned. "You can earn money twice from one thing?"
Han Xiaorui nodded. "Of course. The countries are different, and the target customers are different. If we agree on it beforehand, then it requires two separate licensing fees."
Kuno Hiroo laughed. "After hearing you say that, I’m now tempted to open Japanese restaurants in Shencheng or other developed coastal cities in Hua Country."
"Rest assured, I’m someone who respects technology and knowledge. I will definitely offer a satisfactory fee for the transfer of rights."
He didn’t want Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng to look down on him over a small amount of money.
The food was just too delicious. He could say it was better than what was made back in his home country.
Many chefs back home were stubborn and had, for the most part, lost the drive to innovate or develop new things.
But as society develops, people’s palates change, and they need different textures and stimulation.
Of course, there would always be people who stubbornly stuck to certain foods without change, but Kuno Hiroo believed many were willing to try new things, especially delicious food that brought joy to both mind and body and satisfied the palate.
Well-fed and with the cooperation finalized and confidences exchanged, Kuno Hiroo departed.
"Xiao Rui, I have to leave for a bit today. I might be back late tonight, so I’ll just go straight back to the city to rest."
Ye Feng only had three days to report this matter and get a decision made as soon as possible.
Han Xiaorui nodded. "Go on. It’s the off-season for fishing, so I’ll be at home. And I have so many people here looking after me, you don’t have to worry."
"Whether it’s the technology and equipment for the semiconductor industry or strengthening security measures, it’s all very important."
Ye Feng kissed Han Xiaorui’s forehead and then left.
After the meal, Han Xiaorui wanted to go for a walk. Just then, Pingping and An’an were finally able to ride their little pink bicycles.
Because they had training wheels, they wouldn’t fall, so they could ride them as soon as they got on.
The bicycles also had bells, which made a crisp DING-A-LING sound with a gentle push.
Bicycles in Hua Country were still focused on being sturdy and durable, while those in Japan were already developing in the direction of being multifunctional and stylish.
The moment they went outside, Pingping and An’an’s bicycles instantly became the center of attention for the village children.
Some children even helped by pushing the small bicycle seats from behind, hoping for a turn to ride.
When Pingping and An’an got tired of riding, they let the other children ride for a while.
Perhaps because they had so many things at home, Pingping and An’an got bored of riding after a short while. When they saw the slide, they ran over to play on it instead.
Seeing the children playing so happily, their clear voices carrying far, Han Xiaorui smiled.
It wasn’t until it got dark outside and Wu Jiao and Wu Yao came to get them that Han Xiaorui brought her two daughters, sweaty from playing, back home.
They were covered in sweat and had to take a bath. The two little ones didn’t want to, so Wu Jiao and Wu Yao picked them up and plopped them into the bathtub.
"Wu Jiao, Wu Yao, don’t spoil the kids. Get them washed up quickly, dry their hair, and get them to bed early," Han Xiaorui reminded them. Everyone in the house doted on her two daughters.
"Got it!" Wu Jiao replied. She then lifted Pingping and An’an, who had started playing with the bubbles, out of the tub. Under the warm air of the hair dryer, they began to doze off.
After coaxing Pingping and An’an to sleep, Han Xiaorui returned to her room. Wu Jiao stayed in the children’s room to look after them during the night.
Han Xiaorui was drowsy and fell into a deep sleep.
But in the middle of the night, several dark figures crept up to the outer wall of Han Xiaorui’s courtyard. Hearing a dog bark, they tossed a few chicken legs into the yard.
