Chapter 378: Chapter 378: Only Making Money, Not Taking Lives

Ye Feng chuckled. "You’re right. You’ve got nothing to lose, and I do. You’re not in my league, but I am worried about how far you’re willing to go."

"Don’t worry. I’ll go back and discuss with Xiao Rui how to arrange things for you. We can’t let you make endless demands and have you control the situation."

Wang Cuilan scoffed. "Ye Feng, what are you talking about? We’re family. How can you say something so nasty? It’s your duty to provide for us. Disrespecting your parents is an unforgivable sin."

Ye Feng let out a cold laugh. Without wasting another word, he drove off.

Han Xiaoyuan’s eyes were green with envy as he watched Ye Feng drive away.

’That’s my brother-in-law,’ he thought. ’Which basically means that car is mine, too.’

’Once we’re settled in, I’ll put on a good show for my sister. Even if I can’t get a car, a motorcycle would be awesome.’

He often saw people riding motorcycles on the street these days, and they looked so cool.

Liu Yunyun’s face was etched with worry. She wasn’t nearly as optimistic as Han Xiaoyuan or his parents.

After all, even she knew to fight back after being exploited.

Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing had already disowned the family; why would they willingly accept them back into their lives?

"Xiao Yuan, why don’t we go look for jobs tomorrow?" Liu Yunyun suggested. "We can’t just freeload forever. It’s better to have our own jobs than anything else! It’s not right to always depend on other people."

The Han family’s act would be completely useless on anyone shameless enough to not care about appearances. It only worked because Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing had a sense of decorum and didn’t want things to get ugly.

Han Xiaoyuan squeezed Liu Yunyun’s hand and chuckled. "You’re so naive. A good life is right within our grasp. Why are you in such a rush to go out and toil away at some job?"

"Even if I do work, I’m going to wait until after we’ve officially reconnected. My sister and brother-in-law will arrange a nice, easy job for us. Anything we find on our own now will just be back-breaking labor. Come on, let’s go back and get some rest."

Back at the guesthouse, they ate and drank their fill before crashing into a deep sleep.

Before heading home, Ye Feng stopped by the school to reassure Han Xiaoqing. "Don’t worry about anything while you’re here. Just focus on your studies. I’ll have the driver pick you up this weekend. Don’t try to get home on your own, in case those people try to corner you."

Han Xiaoqing nodded. "I understand, Brother-in-law. I won’t step outside the school gates."

"Good. Don’t be scared. Your sister and I will take care of this." After reassuring Han Xiaoqing, Ye Feng finally left.

Back home, he told Han Xiaorui about her parents’ attitude and what they were planning.

Han Xiaorui said sarcastically, "See? It’s not that we’re being heartless. They have no intention of behaving. They’re planning to mooch off us for good."

Ye Feng nodded. "I even offered to send them abroad, but they refused. They’re afraid they won’t be able to get by without speaking the language."

Han Xiaorui scoffed. "Of course they don’t want to go abroad. They’re scared of being somewhere unfamiliar. In front of us, they’re all bark and no bite, but they’re cowards in public."

Seeing Han Xiaorui grow more agitated, Ye Feng calmed her. "Easy now, don’t get angry."

Han Xiaorui took a few deep breaths. "I’m not angry! I’m not!"

Ye Feng shook his head, a smile playing on his lips. "Your face is pale with rage, and you still say you’re not angry."

Han Xiaorui slammed her hand on the table. "This is so infuriating! I told you to let me handle it, but you just had to do things the legal, proper way. Great. Now they’re suspicious, and it’s going to be much harder to get them out of the country!"

Ye Feng just smiled at her words. "What’s so difficult? We tried the carrot, now for the stick. At least this way, our consciences are clear."

After meeting Han Dayong and Wang Cuilan just once, Ye Feng finally understood why Han Xiaorui and Han Xiaoqing despised their family.

There was absolutely no chance of making peace.

Any sign of weakness now would lead to endless problems down the road.

"So, what’s our next move?" Han Xiaorui asked.

Ye Feng smiled. "What do you think? We give them sleeping pills and put them on a smuggling ship tonight!"

"What?" Han Xiaorui exclaimed in surprise. "You’ve already done it?"

Ye Feng nodded. "Originally, I went today in good faith, planning to send them abroad through legal means. But they were completely ungrateful. And the insatiable greed on their faces was frankly disgusting."

"Since the gentle approach failed, we’ll use force. I took them to a guesthouse. Tonight, once they’re fast asleep, people will deliver them straight to a smuggling vessel at the docks."

Han Xiaorui blinked. "Is the guesthouse in on it? Won’t they report it to the police if four people suddenly go missing?"

Ye Feng smiled. "Now that it’s done, I’ve made sure there won’t be any repercussions. Uncle Xu was the one who handled it."

Han Xiaorui blinked, still confused. "So how did you pull it off?"

Ye Feng replied, "It was actually quite simple. We drugged Han Dayong, put him in a sack, and carried him out with the trash. Then we had someone disguise himself as Han Dayong. The next morning, the other three were drugged and supposedly sent to a hospital."

"On the way, their vehicle was swapped, and the entire family was taken to the smuggling ship. The guesthouse staff thinks they went to the hospital, while they’ll wake up halfway to the coast. Then, the fake Han Dayong will return to the guesthouse and take all their luggage."

"In a city like Shencheng, so many people come and go that a few extra or a few missing won’t even be noticed. What’s more, the plan is meticulous and nobody’s getting killed. As long as you and Han Xiaoqing don’t make a fuss, no one will ever look into it."

Han Xiaorui let out a long sigh of relief after hearing Ye Feng’s plan. "Good. So where are they being sent?"

Ye Feng replied, "First to South America, then they’ll cross illegally into the United States. Their documents will be destroyed so they can never return. Let American Imperialism teach them how to behave!"

Han Xiaorui’s eyes twinkled. "Do it. Even if they can’t speak English in the United States, they can at least wash dishes!"

She would do this, even if it meant being condemned for it.

The plan went off without a hitch. By the time Han Dayong and his family woke up, they were already adrift at sea.

"Where are we?!" Han Dayong’s voice cracked as he shrieked in alarm.

The waves were high that day. The smuggling boat tossed on the water like a lone leaf.

But it didn’t matter how loud Han Dayong shouted. They were out at sea—he could scream his throat raw and it would be useless.

Han Xiaoyuan, being young and resilient, woke up at the sound of his father’s voice.

He rubbed his eyes. The constant rocking made his stomach churn, and he quickly grabbed onto the side of the boat with both hands.

"Dad, weren’t we in the guesthouse? How did we get on a boat? Is our sister and brother-in-law planning to take us out to sea and drown us?"

The color drained from Han Dayong’s face, and he began to tremble with fear. "No... they wouldn’t do that..."

Just then, the boat’s captain appeared. "Relax," he said. "We’re just here to make money, not to kill anyone!"
