Just as I was heading out, my stomach let out another hollow, bitter rumble, cutting through the lingering adrenaline.

Priority number one was still fuel. Better find something to eat.

On the way to the Grey Moon training facility, I stopped by a small street bakery, using some of the loose cash I had on me to buy a thick piece of bread. I shoved it into my mouth, chewing aggressively as I walked.

My body was aching from the push-ups and conditioning I’d forced it through this morning, but I needed real equipment to start rebuilding this vessel’s wasted muscle mass.

After walking for a while, I finally arrived.

The Grey Moon facility was a massive, multi-tiered complex. And like everything in this world, it was strictly divided by status—lowborn and commoners crammed into the rusty, outdated ground floors, while the upper levels were reserved exclusively for nobles and wealthy pack elites.

The pass Edgar had given me was for the top-tier noble sector. At least he had a conscience.

I pulled my hood lower, adjusting my jacket as I stepped into the grand marble lobby of the high-end sector. But before I could even make a move toward the private elevators, a wave of loud, arrogant voices bounced off the polished walls.

"Look at this place," a mocking voice sneered. "They call this a elite facility? The equipment in Grey Moon Pack is practically pre-historic compared to our main pack grounds. What a joke."

I paused, turning my head slightly.

A large group of students in crisp, tailored Ravenhollow uniforms had spilled into the lobby.

What are they doing here?

With a littl search in my memory banks, I realized I had missed one thing. Today was the field trip for my class.

This field trip was a guided tour to inspect specific packs, and it just so happened that they had picked Grey Moon Pack’s sports grounds and teams on this very day that I decided I was going to be here.

A stupid and nasty twist of fate, if you ask me.

Right at the center of the crowd stood Kano, his sharp posture and suffocating Alpha presence drawing every eye in the room. What a joke.

Next to him was a girl with flawless, curled hair and a sickly sweet expression who I remember went by the name Valentina Morningstar. The queen bee who had subtly engineered Brianna’s torment while acting like a saint in front of the teachers.

And now that I think of it, she has the last name Morningstar. Then, is she Edgar’s younger sister he was talking about? I mean, she looks nothing like edgar. If anyhing, a posion snake fits her better.

Ah, to think the fate isn’t just twisted and stupid, it’s also obnoxious. My backer right now happens to be the big brother of the girl who tried to ruin and will keep trying to ruin Brianna’s life.

Well, not on my watch. She better watch out or I might end her. But let’s be careful, so Edgar doesn’t come to hate me and pull his support.

But still, watching them act all high and mighty, as if they had ever done a decent job in their lives to warrant being treated like royalty, made me sick. They wouldn’t know what a wrench was even if it hit them in the face.

I scoffed under my breath, turning back toward the elevators. What a bunch of idiots. I didn’t have a single second to waste on high school drama. Better leave early before they spot me.

But fate is cruel, you know. It won’t even indulge me a little bit.

"Wait... is that Brianna?" a girl in the back gasped, after spotting me and making it her life’s mission to be an idiot.

The entire group went dead silent. Dozens of eyes snapped directly onto my back.

"It is her!" another voice squeaked. "What is she doing here? Isn’t she suspended?"

"She probably followed Kano here!" someone else snickered. "Desperate trash. She gets kicked out of school for a week and still stalks him to the training grounds?"

"How did a wolfless Omega even get into the noble section? She must have snuck in or lied to the front desk!"

Valentina stepped out from the center of the crowd, her face painted with an insufferably gentle, pitying smile as she walked toward me.

"Brianna... it’s good to see you’re well, but you really shouldn’t have lied to the front desk just to get into the noble section," Valentina said softly, her voice carrying clearly across the lobby so every single student could hear.

She held her hands out, looking like a forgiving angel descending upon a sinner. "We know you acted like a villain in the cafeteria, hitting people, but we understand you must have been pushed into a corner after everyone laughed at you. But we forgive you, Brianna! We’ll speak to the principal for you so you can come back to school."

I just stood there, looking at her with cold, dead eyes. What a hypocrite.

Valentina’s eyes flickered to the side for a brief fraction of a second—checking her audience, making sure every gaze was pinned on her performance. Then, she stepped even closer, reaching out to clasp my hand in hers. I didn’t resist, wondering how far she would go with this act.

"Still... you really shouldn’t have done that," she whispered, her eyes welling up with delicate, unshed tears. "I know I was the one who encouraged you to express your feelings to Kano, but I was just trying to be nice! Everyone deserves a chance... I just... I didn’t know it would end up like that. I didn’t know everybody would see your confession and laugh at you! Please don’t be mad at me, Brianna... I’m so sorry!"

Before I could even yank my hand back from her tightening grip, Valentina let out a sharp, dramatic gasp. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

She intentionally threw her weight backward, flinging herself onto the hard tile floor and landing on her butt.

"Brianna!" Valentina cried out, clutching her arm as if she’d been struck by lightning. "I know you don’t like me! I know you’re blaming me for everybody bullying you and laughing at your love letter... but you don’t have to be mean to me! You didn’t have to push me!"
