The Side Character Who Wins by Doing Nothing
Chapter 512 Still the Familiar Senior Sister
The group had just taken to the air when they saw countless people chasing after them.
Lu Sangjiu was thinking, ‘It’s going to be hard to lose them like this.’ Suddenly, a fiery red flame streaked across the sky, stopping right in front of them in the next instant.
An incredibly familiar figure, one she had missed dearly, suddenly appeared before her very eyes.
Lu Sangjiu’s eyes widened in surprise, and she subconsciously blurted out, “…Senior Sister?!”
Luo Linlang had been a bit dazed, but her eyes lit up the moment she heard those words. She instantly realized that the man with the unfamiliar face before her was her very own Little Junior Sister.
But the situation looked dire, so she had no time for pleasantries. She grabbed Lu Sangjiu’s hand and said, “Everyone, hold on tight! I’ll get you out of here!”
Lu Sangjiu had so many questions for Luo Linlang. ‘But how is she going to get us away from here?’
But before she could voice her question, her vision blurred. The next moment, they had all appeared in an unfamiliar place!
This was… still the Demon Realm, but they were clearly no longer in Black Obsidian City!
Luo Linlang was still there in front of her. It wasn’t a hallucination.
However, her complexion was much paler now. It seemed getting them away had taken a significant toll on her.
Before she could voice her concern, Luo Linlang said urgently, “We aren’t that far from Black Obsidian City. We need to leave, now!”
Though everyone was still a bit bewildered, they could tell Luo Linlang was an ally. Without asking any questions, they all immediately used Sword Control and flew toward the South Immortal Palace’s territory.
Once their Flying Swords were airborne, Luo Linlang immediately pulled Lu Sangjiu into a hug. “Waaah, Little Junior Sister, I missed you so much!”
‘Still the same old Senior Sister.’
A warmth filled Lu Sangjiu’s eyes as she gently patted her on the back. “I missed you too, Senior Sister.”
They hugged for a while longer before Lu Sangjiu asked curiously, “Senior Sister, when did you ascend? And how did you find me?”
“I ascended just over ten days ago. As for how I found you… Mr. Xie gave me the Magic Treasure that lets you two sense each other’s location!”
“He was worried you’d be lonely here by yourself and figured you’d be happy if I came to keep you company. So he reluctantly parted with it and gave it to me so I could find you faster!”
However, when she ascended, Lu Sangjiu was inside a Secret Realm, so the Magic Treasure couldn’t sense her at all.
So she had no choice but to familiarize herself with her new surroundings and gather some information.
After learning about the arrest warrant Ji Li had issued, she figured Lu Sangjiu might head to the Demon Cultivation Territory to evade him. So, she traveled all the way to the Demon Realm to ask around for news.
But before she could learn anything, she suddenly felt a response from the Magic Treasure. The location wasn’t too far from her, so she immediately flew over at top speed.
Luckily, her timing was perfect, and she helped them shake off their pursuers in one fell swoop.
After hearing her explanation, Lu Sangjiu understood the gist of what had happened. “So that’s what happened. We were really lucky you arrived just in time.”
“But how did you get us out of there just now?”
Luo Linlang immediately declared with a smug grin, “After my Ascension, my Phoenix Bloodline awakened a new talent: Instant Teleportation.”
“I’m not very skilled at it yet, though. I’m fine by myself, but teleporting with all of you is a bit of a strain.”
That’s why she couldn’t get them very far and ended up completely exhausted.
Seeing her smug expression, Lu Sangjiu couldn’t help but recall Yan Xue looking just as proud when she’d talked about her eyes being her talent.
‘Hmm… it made her feel just a little bit bitter. She really wanted to reply sarcastically, “Yes, yes, you talented people are just so incredible!”‘
After that, Lu Sangjiu naturally had to ask about Xie Ningyuan and how all their other friends were doing.
The two of them seemed to have endless things to say to each other, looking incredibly close.
Meanwhile, Mu Lin tried his best to hold his tongue but finally couldn’t resist. He lowered his voice and asked, “Wait a minute… why does this woman keep calling Lin Dao You ‘Little Junior Sister’?”
After all, his knowledge of Lu Sangjiu was still limited to “him” being Lin Qiu.
Hearing his baffled question, both Lie Rufeng and Yan Xue silently turned to stare at him.
The look was very telling. Yan Xue’s, in particular, practically screamed, ‘Are you an idiot?’
Mu Lin flew into a rage out of embarrassment. “Hey! What’s with those looks?”
“Don’t tell me you all already knew?”
Yan Xue rolled her eyes, feeling that another word would be a waste of her breath.
Finally, Lie Rufeng explained helplessly to Mu Lin, “Mr. Lu is a woman. Her current appearance is just a disguise.”
He paused, as if afraid Mu Lin still didn’t get it, and added, “Oh, and Mr. Lu is the ‘Lin Dao You’ you mentioned. Her real surname is Lu.”
Mu Lin: “…”
‘That was a lot of information to take in. He needed a moment to process it.’
‘So… the guy I thought was my good buddy is actually a woman? And her name is fake, too?’
‘And I was the only one who didn’t know?’
‘This is so unfair! So, so unfair!’
Unable to contain himself, Mu Lin pointed at Lu Sangjiu and roared, “Lin… or Mr. Lu, whatever! I treated you well! How could you lie to me?”
Lu Sangjiu, deep in conversation with Luo Linlang, froze. She looked at Mu Lin, a bit bewildered. She thought about what he’d just said, glanced at the expressions of the other two, and instantly understood what was going on.
‘Ahem… it wasn’t that she’d intentionally kept it from Mu Lin, but she had, in fact, hidden the truth from him.’
‘They hadn’t abandoned her when things got dangerous; they’d helped her. Both logically and emotionally, it didn’t feel right to keep hiding the truth from him any longer.’
So, she dispelled the illusion from Fusheng, revealing her true face. Then she bowed to Mu Lin.
“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. I had my reasons.”
“Mu Lin, allow me to introduce myself properly. My name is Lu Sangjiu.”
Seeing Lu Sangjiu’s true face, Mu Lin froze for a second. Then, as she looked at him, he actually started to blush…
His previous sense of grievance vanished in an instant. He shyly lowered his head to avoid her gaze and stammered, “Uh… n-no, it’s fine. Just… just knowing you’re sorry is enough.”
Seeing his reaction, Luo Linlang instantly grew wary. She pulled Lu Sangjiu behind her, planted her hands on her hips, and snapped, “Hey, Big Guy! What are you blushing for?”
“I’m telling you, my Little Junior Sister already has a partner, so don’t even think about getting any ideas!”
Hearing this, Mu Lin felt a pang of disappointment. “Oh… she has a partner?”
He paused, then flew into another rage, embarrassed that she had seen right through him. He raised his voice and shot back, “What are you talking about? I see Mr. Lu as a brother! Stop making false accusations!”
Luo Linlang retorted angrily, “Are you blind? You’re lying through your teeth! If you weren’t thinking about it, then why did you look so disappointed when you heard she has a partner? I saw it! You were totally disappointed!”
