The Sky Was Never Young: Vampire System Apocalypse

Chapter 100: True Power Lies Within Lord of V.A.M.P

The shadow in the pool hadn’t even fully formed before Vilucious lost his patience.

Flick.

With a careless, violent twitch of his right wrist, a shockwave of invisible, heavy force detonated from his palm. It wasn’t fancy magic: it was raw, blunt-force kinetic pressure.

BOOM!

The air distorted, bending like warped glass as the invisible blast slammed directly into the center of the frozen bath.

The liquid shadow warrior didn’t just break; it exploded into a million black droplets that hissed as they hit the walls.

Splat-fshhh.

The heavy marble tiles beneath the pool cracked under the sheer gravity of the hit, web-lines shooting out across the floor.

"A God, this invisible aur claimed?"

Vilucious mocked, a cruel, airy laugh scraping past his fangs. "You are nothing but a draft in my room. A peasant’s whisper playing with the water."

But the moment his focus shifted to crush the water shadow, the suffocating grip of the silver stardust armor around Florianthum’s ankles suddenly gave a weird, static-like pop.

Zzzzt.

The microscopic glitters flared hot, then went cold.

Using the sudden opening, Florianthum forced her weight forward, desperately trying to twist out of the binding.

But her limbs were still half-numb. Her knees completely gave out the second the metal softened.

THUD.

She hit the wet, freezing marble floor hard, the structured starlight skirt crumpling beneath her.

A sharp, raw gasp tore from her throat as her palms smacked against the shards of frozen flower petals. Crunch.

Vilucious’s head snapped toward the sound of her fall.

Seeing his purest Lordess collapse to her knees... trapped and trembling in this uninvited magic did something to his sanity.

The calm, dark charm he’d been faking completely evaporated.

To him, this wasn’t an escape; it was a direct theft of his property.

His snowy chest heaved, the open, torn doublet exposing the dark veins pulsing near his heart as he looked at her broken form on the stone.

"Look at you," he hissed, his silver hair falling wildly over his eyes as he glared at the space around her.

"Shaking on the floor of my own court! You think some invisible parasite can just touch what belongs to the crown? You belong to me, Florianthum!"

He took a deep, rattling breath, his chest expanding until the fabric of his remaining clothes strained.

Then, he roared at the empty air; a feral, throat-tearing sound of absolute royal fury.

"SHOW YOURSELF, YOU COWARDLY BLIGHT!"

As he roared his secret military footsteps came from out of the bathouse spot. They all lined up but no one entered, as they had no order.

The shout was so loud it rattled the high rafters, dust drifting down from the ceiling.

Then, everything went dead still.

Vilucious slowly closed his eyes. The

anger vanished from his features, replaced by a terrifying, hollow blankness.

Inside the dark of his own mind, his thoughts began to twist into an ancient, rhythmic chant, repeating the words that had been carved into his soul since the day he took the throne:

Gracious almighty said the powers were truly held within the Lord of VAMP...

Gracious almighty said the powers were truly held within the Lord of VAMP...

Hummmmmmmm---

A low, bass-heavy vibration started in the center of his chest.

FLASH.

When his eyelids snapped back open, his silver-grey eyes were entirely gone.

There were no pupils, no iris, just two solid, glowing orbs of blinding, electric white light.

The white light didn’t stay in his sockets. It erupted outward in a violent, expanding sphere of pure, bleaching energy, flooding every square inch of the grand bath chambers.

It tore through the lingering steam, turned the black shadows into ash, and stripped the color right out of the room.

It was an absolute purge. If something was invisible in that room, it was about to be burned alive by the light.

The white glare from Vilucious’s eyes just burns everything out... like a screen going completely blank and hot.

And then it just cuts.

No smooth transition, no artsy fade, just an absolute drop into the dark.

Suddenly the air smells like wet rot and old mold instead of flowers. It’s freezing.

The camera angle is shoved right up into Governor Kerwon’s face. Like, uncomfortably close, catching the sweat sheen on his forehead and the twitch under his left eye.

A blue-fired flambeau is gripped tightly in his hand, its eerie, supernatural azure flames crackling and spitting- snap-fizz- throwing giant, distorted shadows across his face.

The cold blue light makes his pale skin look almost skeletal.

He doesn’t even blink.

He just stares straight ahead into the dark, his breath coming out in these short, ragged puffs of gray mist that turn blue in the firelight.

He had walked down into this pit acting through a calculated tunnel vision, mimicking the narrow focus required to hunt down a buried secret.

But he wasn’t genuinely tunnel-visioned like the others.

He had expected a real, world-altering truth waiting behind that iron door. Something massive.

Then his mouth moves.

It’s just a twitch at first, a gross little pull at the corner of his lips until it stretches into this wide, psychopathic smirk.

It’s the face of a guy who just got the punchline to a massive joke. He lets out this long, shaky sigh:

Haaaah... halfway between a laugh and a choke.

It’s the exact look of a man who realizes he’s been completely, beautifully screwed over.

The blue firelight hits the sagging, water-logged wooden shelves.

Kerwon tilts his head, his smirk getting so wide the skin around his eyes looks tight and ready to split.

The only sound down here is the heavy drip... plop... of groundwater hitting a puddle near his boots.

Then, the smile just drops. His face goes totally flat, and his voice cracks through the silence, not a shout yet, just this sharp, vicious snap full of pure disbelief.

"Metal circles?"

He spits the words out like they’re poison, stepping right up to the rotting wood.

Then he shoves a massive stack of faded, papers and metal coins off the ledge.

Thump.

A heavy cloud of gray dust hits him right in the face, making him cough, but he doesn’t even care.

"Books?!"he roars, the anger finally ripping straight out of his chest, bouncing hoarsely off the damp stone walls.

He violently kicks another pile, sending hundreds of worthless, moldy banknotes flying through the air like dead leaves under the blue glow.

"I dragged my entire section through the mud of this godforsaken world for paper? For the garbage thoughts of a species that couldn’t even keep their own sky alive?!"

He throws his head back, a sharp, ugly bark of a laugh echoing down the empty tunnel as the camera pulls back, leaving him looking incredibly small in a room full of trash.

Heavy echoes of Kerwon’s psychopathic laughter hadn’t even finished scraping against the damp walls before a shadow shifted in the narrow corridor just outside the vault door.

Fukuro pressed his back flat against the sweating stone, his fingers digging into the jagged cracks until his knuckles went numb.

Drip... plop...

A drop of ice-cold groundwater hit the bridge of his nose, but he didn’t dare wipe it away.

His chest was heaving, his throat burning from the suffocating dust that Kerwon had just kicked into the air.

He had followed him.

All the way down into this godforsaken pit, slipping through the dark like a stray dog trailing a butcher.

Inside Fukuro’s head, his mind was a chaotic, white-hot storm of pure venom.

Long haired liar giraffe! Fukuro thought, his teeth grinding together so hard his jaw ached.

What an arrogant, delusional piece of trash. Smirking like he owns the world while he stands in a pile of rotting garbage.

Fukuro’s face turned red as he fixed his round glasses with his fingers in between of his nose.

A fraud. A manic, self-obsessed lunatic laughing at paper, he screamed in his head with anger.

Fukuro kept his spine glued to the rough stone, holding his breath until his lungs felt tight.

He didn’t move a single muscle.

Plop.

A single, fat drop of ice-cold groundwater fell from a jagged crack in the ceiling. It hit him right on the tip of his nose.

The shock of the freezing water was so sudden his entire body gave a violent, uncontrollable jolt.

His shoulder blade cracked hard against the wall with a dull thud, and his boots gave a tiny, frantic scuff on the wet dirt floor.

Squeak.

Inside the room, Kerwon’s laughing fit cut off instantly. The silence that followed was suffocating.

Kerwon slowly raised his right eyebrow, his face instantly dropping the psychopathic smirk.

With a sharp, whiplash reaction, his head snapped directly toward the ruined iron doorway, his narrow, slit-like eyes locking onto the exact dark corner where Fukuro was hiding.

He felt it. He knew someone was there.

Instead of running, Fukuro froze, the breath dying in his throat as the blue firelight began to stretch across the stone floor toward his boots.

Kerwon didn’t shout.

He didn’t rush. He simply raised the flambeau higher, the eerie azure light cutting through the thick layer of floating dust.

Step by step, the heavy crunch of his boots approached the threshold.

Crunch... crunch...
