The Smiling Death

Chapter 585: Interrupt!!

  • Next Chapter

"This is crazy!"

Amon stretched both arms into the air the moment he stepped out of the examination hall.

Finally it was over. The unit exams had officially come to an end, and Amon couldn’t have been happier.

He had just finished his final written exam, which meant he could finally stop worrying about studying, memorizing endless information, and staring at questions that made his head hurt.

He let out a long sigh of relief.

"Freedom..."

It had been a few exhausting weeks since Amon had started dating Seraphina.

Although he was happy about their new relationship, they hadn’t really gotten much time to spend together.

The exams had been approaching, and both of them had been busy preparing. Even though Amon wasn’t exactly the most enthusiastic student when it came to studying, he had still managed to get through everything.

Now, however, all of that was over. At least for the moment.

Everything had returned to normal.

There were no dangerous monsters attacking the academy, no mysterious organizations appearing out of nowhere, no life-threatening missions, and no ancient beings suddenly dragging him into trouble.

It was peaceful, very peaceful. And Amon loved it.

’This is how academy life is supposed to be.’

He couldn’t help but smile. Of course, his life wasn’t exactly ordinary. He was currently a man with two lovers.

Just a few days ago, Scarlett had even appeared inside his dormitory room through a teleportation portal artifact.

That incident had earned him a rather unpleasant scolding from Headmistress Isabel.

Since Isabel could sense the portal opening, she didn’t particularly mind Amon using teleportation to travel in and out of the dormitory.

However, she had made one thing very clear. He wasn’t allowed to bring other people into the dormitory through the portal.

Unfortunately, Amon didn’t have much of a choice in the matter.

’I’ll have to be more careful next time.’

He chuckled at the memory. But today was different.

The exams were finally finished. And Amon had already made plans. He was going on a date with Seraphina.

They had promised to spend some time together once their exams were over, and Amon had been looking forward to it for days.

His mood immediately lifted at the thought.

"Sera!"

Amon spotted his friends waiting outside and quickly walked toward them. Standing together were Seraphina, Eliana, Aisha, Marcus, and Julia.

Seraphina turned toward him. A small smile appeared on her face when she saw him.

Amon smiled back. "Hello, guys. How was your exam?"

"It was fine..." Aisha rubbed her forehead with a tired expression.

Then she sighed. "To be honest, don’t ask."

Amon immediately understood.

Aisha was almost as bad as him when it came to studying.

Despite being incredibly talented when it came to combat and training, she had absolutely no interest in sitting down and memorizing theoretical material for hours.

Amon gave her a sympathetic look. "I understand your suffering."

"Don’t pretend you studied seriously either." Aisha narrowed her eyes at him.

Amon immediately looked away. "Who said anything about studying?"

Aisha sighed.

Meanwhile, Marcus stood with his arms crossed over his chest, wearing a calm and composed expression.

"It was too easy."

He said it with complete confidence.

However, Amon noticed something strange.

Marcus kept occasionally glancing toward Julia.

’He’s trying way too hard to look cool.’

Amon almost laughed.

Marcus was clearly trying to maintain his cool and confident image in front of Julia, his fiancée.

Julia, however, seemed completely unfazed. "For me, it was easy as well."

Eliana chimed in with a huge smile. "The same goes for Seraphina."

Seraphina gave a small nod. "It was good."

Julia also gave a simple answer.

The group then began walking together through the academy grounds.

The atmosphere was noticeably lighter now that the exams were over.

Students were leaving the examination halls in groups, some celebrating, others complaining about difficult questions, while a few were already discussing how they thought they had performed.

Amon barely paid attention to any of it.

His attention was focused on one thing. His date. He glanced toward Seraphina.

She was walking beside the others, her golden hair gently swaying with every step.

Just knowing that he would finally get to spend some private time with her after several busy weeks made Amon feel unusually excited.

’Finally...’ He smiled happily. There was excitement in his eyes.

’Just me and Sera.’

For once, Amon wasn’t thinking about training, monsters, mysterious organizations, ancient powers, or anything remotely dangerous.

He simply wanted to enjoy a peaceful day with his girlfriend.

And after everything that had happened recently...

He felt that he had more than earned it.

---

The two eventually separated from the others, leaving the academy grounds behind.

Amon and Seraphina walked side by side through the streets of Elarith City.

It was already late afternoon.

The sunlight had softened, bathing the city in a warm golden glow. Long shadows stretched across the stone-paved streets, while the last busy hours of the day filled the city with a lively yet peaceful atmosphere.

Merchants were calling out to passing customers.

Small food stalls filled the air with delicious aromas, and people moved through the streets carrying shopping bags, chatting with friends, or simply enjoying the pleasant weather.

Seraphina quietly walked beside Amon. For a while, neither of them said anything.

It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence. Rather, there was something strangely peaceful about simply walking together.

Amon glanced at her. She looked beautiful.

Her long golden hair reflected the afternoon sunlight, almost seeming to glow with a faint radiance. Her golden eyes were calm, and the gentle breeze occasionally moved a few strands of hair across her face.

His hand was holding her hand, their fingers intertwined. He could feel her warmth through it.

Amon smiled. "What?" Seraphina noticed him staring.

"Nothing."

"You’re staring."

"Oh my~ Now I can’t stare at my love?"

Seraphina’s cheeks immediately became slightly red.

"You can..."

Her voice became quieter. "...but don’t stare too much."

Amon chuckled.

"Why?"

"It’s embarrassing."

"You’re my girlfriend. Am I not allowed to admire my own girlfriend as much as I want?"

Seraphina’s face became even redder. "Don’t say things like that so casually."

"Hehe."

Amon smiled mischievously. He wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to tease her. They continued walking. After a few moments, Amon noticed a small street vendor selling various sweets.

His eyes immediately lit up.

"Sera."

"Hm?"

"Look."

He pointed toward the stall.

Seraphina followed his gaze. There were several colorful pastries and sweets displayed neatly behind the counter.

"You want some?"

"Of course."

Amon walked toward the stall without hesitation.

Seraphina followed him with a small smile. They bought two different sweets and continued walking while eating them.

Amon took a bite and nodded approvingly. The taste was sweet.

"This is good."

Seraphina tasted hers.

"It is."

She smiled. "Although I think yours looks better."

Amon immediately held his sweet toward her.

"Want some?"

Seraphina blinked.

"Can I?"

"Of course."

She hesitated for a moment before leaning closer and taking a small bite.

Amon watched her. "How is it?"

"It’s good." She smiled.

Amon grinned. "Then you can have the rest."

Seraphina looked surprised.

"No, you bought it."

"I don’t mind."

She stared at the remaining sweet before looking at him.

"You really don’t?"

"Nope."

A small smile appeared on her lips. "Thank you."

They continued walking. Their shoulders occasionally brushed against each other as they moved through the crowded street.

Eventually, they reached a quieter part of the city where the streets became less crowded.

A small park stretched along the edge of a fountain, surrounded by trees and benches. The golden sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting soft patterns across the ground.

Amon looked around. "Want to sit for a while?"

Seraphina nodded. They found a quiet bench beneath a large tree and sat beside each other.

The city could still be heard in the distance, but here everything felt much quieter.

Seraphina leaned back slightly. "So..."

"Hm?" Amon gaze at her.

"This is our first proper date, isn’t it?"

Amon thought about it. "Yeah."

She smiled softly. "I was wondering what it would be like."

"And?" She looked at him. "It’s nice."

Amon smiled. "Just nice?"

Before she could reply, a voice suddenly interrupted them. It was a familiar voice.

"Amon, you’re here? I’ve been looking for you around the academy for hours."

Both Amon and Seraphina turned toward the person who had just ruined their moment.

A man with dark blue hair stood there, looking at the two of them with a calm expression. His gaze shifted between Amon and Seraphina as he observed them for a moment.

Arnold suddenly coughed and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Did I... interrupt you two?"

"Yes, you did."

"Yes, you did."

Amon and Seraphina answered in unison.
