The Soldier King Becomes a Useless Little Girl
Chapter 1444 - 1438: Night Raid
Chapter 1444: Chapter 1438: Night Raid
Ka-ka—
A cold wind blew, lifting Prince Yuan’s robe.
He paused, instinctively glancing around.
Apart from the hazy moonlight, there was nothing else.
It seemed he heard something.
Laughter?
The wind blew fiercer.
Prince Yuan couldn’t tell if it was the sound of the wind or laughter.
Usually, Haotian Platform didn’t have such strong wind.
Prince Yuan stepped forward and took out two pieces of flint, gently striking them.
These seemingly ordinary flints were not common stones.
They were special Qi Stones; only when infused with True Qi could they ignite.
The flames they produced wouldn’t easily be extinguished by the wind.
Prince Yuan was injured, his internal energy unstable. He failed to ignite them the first time and tried a second, then third time.
On the third attempt, the fire finally burned brightly.
Light spilled onto the ground.
Adding a touch of warmth to the cold Haotian Platform.
Ka-ka—
Another cold wind blew past, seemingly accompanied by laughter.
The newly burning flame was suddenly extinguished.
What happened?
Prince Yuan was startled; he realized something was amiss.
He turned quickly, surveying the surroundings, and spoke coldly.
"Show yourself."
A chilling sensation came over him.
The same feeling.
Days ago, he was ambushed.
That night, there was the same eerie wind, accompanied by similar laughter.
He thought he was imagining things, but now it seemed it was real.
A lamp lit with True Fire Stone can only be put out by a similar True Qi or Spiritual Power.
"Boy, you’ve finally noticed us."
In the corner of the forty-fourth floor of Haotian Platform, something began to emerge.
That thing had no definite form.
It was grayish, like a mist.
Not just one misty form, but many appeared from all directions.
But with its appearance, the moonlight in the sky seemed suddenly obscured.
"Are you human or ghost?"
Unable to clearly see the opponent’s form, the chilling aura revealed something to Prince Yuan.
No wonder, it wasn’t a normal person.
"Crown Prince, we are not human; we are sent by King Yama to collect souls."
Those mist-like gray shadows quickly gathered from all directions.
"Someone come!"
Prince Yuan called out sternly.
"Crown Prince, it’s useless now. All your soldiers are already dead. The blood of the living is a delicacy. Crown Prince, don’t resist; you are wounded, and this injury will be your end."
The eerie voice was laced with malice.
Prince Yuan was shocked.
"I have no grievance with you; why attack me?"
Prince Yuan felt the pain in his wound intensifying.
Something seemed to be trying to escape.
Drip, drip—
Blood from the wound kept dripping.
Prince Yuan prided himself on never having done anything regretful; it seemed impossible he would provoke such evil forces.
"Crown Prince, although you have no grievance with us, you are in another’s way. Blame only your unfortunate fate."
Through the mist, the malevolent voice carried a chill.
Thud—
Suddenly, the sound of a sharp weapon piercing flesh changed Prince Yuan’s expression.
From his wound, a small skull crawled out. It had been hiding within his body and now opened its mouth to bite Prince Yuan’s throat!
