Chapter 1655: Chapter 1647:

By the time she got back to Qingtian Academy it was already near dusk. As Xin Lin had just walked up to the door of the School Clinic, she heard a burst of scolding.

It was Master Mo’s voice.

From the sound of it, the one getting scolded was Danzi.

Xin Lin caught Master Mo’s complaints in scattered bits.

Words like "injuring people," "inciting a crowd," "stupid ball"—could it be that Danzi had stirred up trouble again?

Xin Lin couldn’t help a wry smile.

She’d taken Danzi out with her for more than a month. With Chu Beiqing stuck in the Medical Hall getting more and more bored, Xin Lin had thought Danzi seemed a bit smarter now and shouldn’t be as mischievous as that troublemaker in front of her.

These past few days she’d been busy with reopening Taoyao Pavilion, and afraid Chu Beiqing would be unhappy, she’d decided to leave Danzi behind.

She hurried inside.

With a whoosh, a bright yellow fluff ball darted to hide behind Xin Lin’s back.

"Xin Lin, move aside, I’m so mad I could die!"

Master Mo’s face was full of anger. When Xin Lin got a good look at her, the corner of her mouth couldn’t help twitching.

"Master Mo, did you get stung by a Hornet Monster?"

Xin Lin forced down a laugh.

After she came back, Long Qingxuan and the others had been nowhere to be seen lately, so she’d replanted the Medical Hall’s plot of land.

Besides some Medicinal Herbs Xin Lin had brought back from Fuzhou, the flowers and plants that used to be in the garden had grown out again.

The Hornet Monsters had also started buzzing around here frequently again.

But Xin Lin had always thought Master Mo and the Hornet Monsters were practically old neighbors by now; they ought to have learned to coexist peacefully.

"All because of that stupid ball! It actually grew a brain in the back of its head and figured out how to summon Hornet Monsters to make trouble! Absolutely outrageous."

Master Mo’s face was still hurting terribly.

"Cursing, spraying colors."

Danzi hid behind Xin Lin, craning its neck out to sneak a look at Master Mo.

"Master Mo, what did Danzi do that you’re cursing it?"

Xin Lin was both annoyed and amused as she grabbed Rong Qiu and pulled it out.

Before Danzi had awakened, it would just look utterly blank when scolded. Now it was better—it even knew how to talk back.

"It hurt people. Today a few students came in for treatment, and it just went and pecked them all over. Those few, you know them too, they’re from your Shaking Light Class."

Master Mo was thoroughly vexed.

Ever since Xin Lin went to Fuzhou, the School Clinic had practically no patients.

She was so broke she was about to gnaw on her coffin boards, and she’d finally gotten a few patients, so she was all set to keep selling her green bean soup.

Who knew Danzi would charge up and go on a random pecking spree.

"Shaking Light Class? Which ones, and what were they sick with?"

The moment she asked, Xin Lin realized asking Master Mo about their illness was pointless—Master Mo would never know.

It was Danzi instead; usually it only took action on her orders, so why had it taken the initiative to attack people?

Hearing that, Xin Lin glanced over at Danzi.

This little thing’s fluff hadn’t even fully grown in, and it already knew how to hurt people?

Though she had to admit, Danzi’s pecking was impressive.

Its body was small, but its beak was anything but.

Xin Lin had once personally seen it peck a rock straight into tiny crumbs.

"Why did you peck our class’s people?"

Xin Lin was puzzled.

"Tasty!"

Danzi finished speaking, and light flashed in its Hei Dou eyes.

That gleam was very familiar to Xin Lin.

Whenever Danzi ran into something delicious, it reacted like that.

"Eating people, now that’s some ambition! Those students just had a hangover and came to get some medicine, but this thing went ahead and pecked them till their heads were split open and bleeding. Just wait till Master Mu comes to demand an explanation—how are you two going to answer for it?"

Master Mo snorted.

If it hadn’t been for her quick reaction, Danzi would probably have pecked those people crippled on the spot.

Tasty?

Hearing that, Xin Lin frowned.

"Danzi, explain yourself clearly—what was tasty? The people were tasty? Or what?"

Danzi might be silly and slow, but it wasn’t about to start eating human flesh.
