The SSS-rank Guide Doesn't Need Saving

Chapter 135: Zeke Enters the Contaminated Zone! (1)

  • Next Chapter

The sky was azure blue and the sun shone brightly.

A flying device circled around the site of the contaminated zone as if it were a bird, surveying the area before finally descending from the air and perching on top of a man’s arm.

Ares unlatched the camera that was tied to the flying device’s leg and inserted it into the recording player equipment.

Because of the miasma in the air, surveillance cameras don’t work well in their world. Whenever a camera was used, it usually got corrupted, and signs of decay would show quickly. Thus, only places that were regularly purified could own a surveillance camera.

A recording tool also costs a lot, aiming only at organizations and businesses that could afford a high-ranking Guide who would regularly purify it. But even then, they’d only use a few surveillance cameras. Only powerhouses like the Association, Federation, and the Imperial Family could afford to use it without thinking of draining their money reserves.

The camera they’d brought here was far more expensive than a common recording tool. Yet, it already showed heavy signs of corruption. And that was because they were closer to the contaminated zone.

"How’s it?"

A woman walked next to Ares and hovered her hand over the recording tool. The signs of decay from the strong miasma slowly started to show some improvement.

The woman had a slender figure that could make men flush with a fluster. Her entire person was like a nymph that had come out to play, emitting a soothing and compelling aura. She wore a pristine white, high-collared military tunic with asymmetric black straps and silver buckles, a paneled short skirt, leather stockings, and thigh-high boots.

Ares glanced at her before saying, "The reading came out high. The miasma threat level has increased by thirty percent more than what we recorded yesterday."

"Thirty percent?" the woman exclaimed in surprise.

Her surprise wasn’t unexpected. A rise in threat level was normal inside a contaminated zone. Usually, they’d get a reading of five to eighteen percent increase. Five would be a low-level threat zone, while eighteen was considered to be mid-high to high-level threat.

From yesterday’s reading, which was only twenty-eight percent, a thirty percent increase was unprecedented. And only a day has passed!

Now, they’re facing a fifty-eight threat-level contaminated zone with a high possibility of increase. This was an S-level contaminated zone.

"That’s right." Ares took on a serious expression as well. "I suspect that by tomorrow, the threat level will increase again." He paused, then turned to the man looking at the map and said, "Sir, should we call the Blockade Team to put barriers around the contaminated zone?"

Zeke’s gaze swept past Ares, and he looked toward the recording equipment. He fell silent, then he picked up something from the table. "It would take the Blockade Team half a day to get the barriers settled around the contaminated zone. They’d need a few hours of preparation before they could come here. And it would take another few hours for them to set their equipment around the zone. By the time they finished, do you think the threat level would decrease or not?"

"Definitely will increase," Ares muttered.

"Is this the first time this has ever happened?" the woman asked both of them.

Zeke shook his head. "There was a contaminated zone that appeared 2 years ago with a rising threat level. The threat level ended up at fifty-two percent and was recorded as a Mid-High A+ Level Zone."

"It was the Admiral who stopped the last contaminated zone from increasing even more," Ares revealed. He felt that he should at least tell everyone what his boss had done in the past.

"Oh?" The woman showed interest and looked at the Admiral, expecting him to tell her the story of his amazing feats. "How did you stop it?"

Galithe was a Guide sent over by the Federation for a joint operation with the Association last month. But during her stay at the Association’s headquarters, there was not a lot for her to do. And besides their first meeting at the introductory meeting, she hasn’t seen the imposing supreme commander of the Association.

She wasn’t supposed to come here to this zone. The Federation had only ordered her to observe the Association for two months, steal some of the new miasma blocker crystals that the Association had found for them to locate its source and get it. But upon hearing that the Supreme Commander was out on a mission, Galithe didn’t want to waste this chance to see him again.

Who wouldn’t act like her when this man before her was a high-quality Sentinel with the rarest SS-rank?

If she could match with him, wouldn’t that mean her entire future would be secured? The people back in the Federation would also bow down to her.

As an S-ranked Guide herself, Galithe doesn’t believe that her matching rate with Zeke Valaerion could be so low!

Thus, using this situation where they could be in danger to rack up some romantic points with him was her purpose in coming here!

However, Zeke did not respond to her as he went back to read the maps carefully, memorizing them in his head.

Ares replied to her instead, "He destroyed it."

Galithe was displeased at being ignored by him. But the words that came out of Ares’ lips made her unable to control her face.

"Huh?"

Ares continued, "Since there was no human inside the contaminated zone, the Admiral decided to wipe out every corrupted monster inside." He grinned as though he could still remember that time. "It was honestly overkill. Especially since he handled it alone."

Galithe had heard of Zeke Valaerion’s feats from the data that the Federation had gathered about him. It actually took a long time for them to get any information on him and get a clearer view of how powerful he was. But to hear that the Admiral had cleared an A+ level threat zone all by himself was astonishing!

Just how strong was this man?

After knowing this, Galithe couldn’t wait to show her sincerity inside the zone by guiding him! Then, her dream of being paired with the strongest Sentinel would come true!

At this time, a new soldier in a battlesuit approached.

He bowed to Zeke before reporting, "We’ve already set a barricade around the area. No one can enter unless they have your permit, Sir."
