The creature emerged slowly from the dark, its massive form taking shape against the gloom like a living fortress. Its shell was vast and domed, covered in overlapping plates of dark, iron-grey chitin that seemed to drink in the faint light around it. Veins of pale blue electricity crawled across its surface, pulsing in slow, rhythmic waves.

But it was the heads that made Gray’s tentacles curl tight.

Three necks extended from the front of the shell, each one thick and muscular, each one crowned with a different face. The left head wore a permanent scowl, its eyes narrowed and lips peeled back from jagged teeth. The center head was serene, its eyes half-lidded, its expression almost peaceful. The right head was twisted into something like a grin, its eyes wide and wild, its teeth bared in savage delight.

All three heads moved independently, scanning the water in different directions. Sparks of lightning crackled between their teeth.

The system flickered, and the analysis materialized in Gray’s vision.

[TRI-CEPHALON TERROR — Level 42]

HP: 2400 / 2400

MP: 800 / 800

Threat Level: EXTREME

« Analysis »

An apex predator of the deep abyssal zone, the Tri-Cephalon Terror is a rare mutation that has evolved three independent brains within a single body. Each head possesses its own elemental affinity, thought process, and combat role. The shell is reinforced with crystallized mana, granting it near-absolute physical defense.

« Head Personalities »

· Left Head (The Wrathful) — Aggressive. Attacks relentlessly with close-range electrical discharges.

· Center Head (The Serene) — Tactical. Coordinates the other heads and casts ranged lightning spells.

· Right Head (The Frenzied) — Unpredictable. Launches wild, rapid-fire lightning bolts in all directions.

« Weakness »

The shell is nearly impenetrable, but the necks are exposed and less armored. Severing a head removes its elemental contribution and weakens the others. The three heads share a single mana pool, draining it will disable their abilities.

’Oi, oi, are you serious?’ Gray said. ’This is just a walking fortress...’

Cindy’s voice came, tight with tension. "I can feel it, Gray. The mana in that thing... it’s incredibly sharp. Like blades made of lightning."

The left head snarled, its jaws snapping. The center head’s eyes narrowed, tracking Gray’s position with cold precision. The right head let out a cackling hiss, and lightning arced between its teeth.

Then they attacked.

The right head snapped forward first, its jaws opening wide. A volley of wild, rapid-fire lightning bolts shot through the water in every direction, scorching the rocks, boiling the water, forcing Gray to pulse sideways so fast his bell nearly folded.

[NEAR MISS]

’Whoa!’

He twisted through the barrage, Flow State bending the currents around him as he dodged. The bolts kept coming, erratic and impossible to predict. The right head was laughing, its wide eyes wild with savage glee.

’They’re incredibly aggressive,’ Gray muttered, dodging another bolt. ’It’s like their favorite food is right in front of them.’

"Because it is!" Cindy shouted. "You’re the food!"

The left head lunged, its neck stretching forward with terrifying speed. Gray barely dodged, and the head snapped shut on empty water where his bell had been a heartbeat before. The electrical discharge that followed lit up the entire ravine.

[WRATHFUL HEAD — ELECTRICAL BITE — MISSED]

Gray pulsed backward, putting distance between them, but the center head was already tracking him. Its serene eyes never blinked as it raised its snout and released a concentrated lance of lightning.

[SPELL: THUNDER LANCE]

Gray twisted, but the lance clipped his bell margin.

[GRAY ASHFORD — HP: 1032 / 1100]

[PARALYSIS — 1 SECOND]

’Tch! Even a glancing hit hurts!’

The paralysis locked him for a split second. The right head cackled and fired another wild volley. Gray forced his body to move, breaking free just in time. The bolts singed his armor but didn’t land clean.

"Gray! The necks!" Cindy called.

’I know!’ Gray fired Riptide Slash at the left head’s neck, the crescent blade slicing through the water. The Wrathful head saw it coming and pulled back, the blade grazing its scales but not cutting deep.

[RIPTIDE SLASH — 86 DAMAGE]

[TRI-CEPHALON TERROR — HP: 2314 / 2400]

The Serene head’s eyes narrowed. It raised its snout again, it aimed at the water around him. The lightning spread in a wide net, cutting off his escape routes.

’Oh, that’s cheating!’

He dove, Subterranean Ambush activating on instinct. The sand swallowed him whole just as the net of lightning closed. Above, he felt the Tri-Cephalon Terror shifting, its heads scanning the seafloor.

’Cindy, can you bind them? Just for a second?’

"I can try. But with three heads, the binding might not hold long."

’One second is all I need.’

Cindy raised her hands. Silver light gathered around her fingers, and she cast [Spellbind] at the center head. The ribbon of light shot through the water and wrapped around the Serene head’s neck.

[SPELLBIND — PARTIAL SUCCESS]

[EFFECT DURATION: 1.5 SECONDS]

The Serene head’s eyes widened in surprise. The other two heads turned toward it, momentarily distracted. Gray erupted from the sand directly beneath the Wrathful head’s neck.

[SUBTERRANEAN AMBUSH — 118 DAMAGE]

[TRI-CEPHALON TERROR — HP: 2196 / 2400]

[STUN — 2 SECONDS]

His serrated bell carved deep into the exposed flesh. The Wrathful head screamed, its electrical discharge misfiring, sparks flying in every direction. The other two heads recoiled, the Serene one still bound, the Frenzied one twisting wildly.

’One down, two to go!’

But the stun broke faster than expected. The Serene head’s eyes flashed, and the binding around its neck shattered.

The Frenzied head stopped cackling. The Wrathful head stopped screaming.

All three heads turned toward Gray at once. Their eyes locked onto him with a unified, terrifying focus.

Cindy’s voice was barely a whisper.

"...Gray? I think you just made it angry."

The Wrathful head lunged from the left, jaws crackling with close-range lightning. The Frenzied head fired a wild volley from the right, bolts scattering in every direction. And the Serene head, calm and precise, launched a concentrated Thunder Lance straight down the middle.

Gray pulsed sideways, Flow State screaming around him as he twisted through the gaps. One bolt grazed his tentacle, another singed his bell margin, but he didn’t stop moving.

[-42 HP]

[-38 HP]

[GRAY ASHFORD — HP: 1020 / 1100]

’Too many angles! I can’t dodge everything!’

Cindy’s voice rang out, sharp and clear.

"[Ice Wall]!"

A barrier of crystalline ice erupted between Gray and the creature, jagged and thick, glowing faintly with silver mana. The Wrathful head’s lunge slammed into it, and the lightning discharged harmlessly across the frozen surface. The Frenzied head’s wild bolts shattered against the ice, scattering into steam.

She raised both hands, and the ice wall shattered outward, transforming into a storm of frozen shards that shot toward the Tri-Cephalon Terror. The shards struck the creature’s shell, the necks, the exposed joints between plates.

[ICE SHARD STORM — 96 DAMAGE]

[TRI-CEPHALON TERROR — HP: 2100 / 2400]

The Wrathful head roared, its scales frosted. The Frenzied head shrieked with laughter, shaking off the ice. But the Serene head only narrowed its eyes.

Then the creature’s shell pulsed.

The veins of lightning across its surface flared bright, and a wave of heat radiated outward. The ice that had clung to its body hissed and evaporated. The frozen shards still embedded in its flesh melted into steam.

[ELEMENTAL COUNTER — FIRE/HEAT DISCHARGE]

The Serene head had adapted. It had analyzed Cindy’s ice and countered it in seconds.

Cindy’s frills lowered, her voice tight. "It’s using heat to melt my ice. I can’t keep up if it counters everything."

’Then don’t give it time to counter,’ Gray said.

He shot forward, Abyssal Lance activating as his body compressed into a spear. The Wrathful head saw him coming and lunged to meet him, jaws wide. Gray twisted at the last second, letting the head snap shut on empty water, and drove his crystalline barbs into the exposed neck beneath its jaw.

[CRITICAL HIT!]

[ABYSSAL LANCE — 196 DAMAGE]

[TRI-CEPHALON TERROR — HP: 1904 / 2400]

[BLOOD LOSS — 12 DAMAGE]

The Wrathful head screamed, its electrical discharge misfiring wildly. The Serene head turned toward him, its calm expression cracking for the first time.

’That’s right,’ Gray thought. ’Focus on me.’

But the Frenzied head was already moving.

Its jaws opened and fired everything it had in every direction, a chaotic storm of lightning that filled the entire ravine. There was nowhere to dodge.

[-124 HP]

[PARALYSIS — 2 SECONDS]

[GRAY ASHFORD — HP: 896 / 1100]

Gray’s body locked. The Wrathful head lunged, its jaws closing around his trailing tentacle.

[-86 HP]

[GRAY ASHFORD — HP: 810 / 1100]

’GAAAH!’

[LACERATION — 6 damage over 5 seconds]

Cindy’s voice cut through the pain.

"[Frozen Prison]!"

The water around the Wrathful head crystallized instantly, encasing the entire head in a block of solid ice. The jaws froze mid-bite, the lightning in its teeth flickering and dying. The head was trapped.
