Chapter 88 - 86: Your Big Bro Is a Professional Alchemist
Chapter 88: Chapter 86: Your Big Bro Is a Professional Alchemist
West Moon Ridge’s departure had no real effect on Feng Hao. The only difference was that without Chief Black Cat around, things felt a little boring.
Fortunately, the Mage World had its perks. When you were bored, you could cultivate or try to figure out a Secret Technique. Feng Hao was used to cultivating at night, so on the day before school started, he chose to work on a Secret Technique.
But a Secret Technique wasn’t something you could just casually construct. After messing around in his hotel room all morning, he had gotten nowhere.
As for Xiyue Frost, she had been holed up in her room since last night, not even coming out for meals. This made Feng Hao realize for the first time just how severe her reclusiveness was. Simply provoking her with words had a limited effect.
After some thought, Feng Hao decided to find a way to ask Xiyue Frost to go out with him, so he went to her door.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! The knocks were quick and light.
Xiyue Frost’s cold voice came from inside the room. "Who is it?"
"It’s me, Feng Hao," he replied irritably, then raised his voice and asked, "I’m going to do some Thief God Hall business. You coming?"
There was a moment of silence from inside, followed by a sneer. "Are you asking me to go steal things with you?"
"..." Feng Hao was speechless. "Who told you the Thief God Hall only steals things?"
"Isn’t that what you do?" Xiyue Frost continued to sneer.
"Fine, forget I said anything." Feng Hao was getting annoyed. ’So after all this time, this woman is still hung up on her stolen underwear. It’s been over a year. Why is she still holding such a grudge?’
He returned to his room in defeat. He then effortlessly refined ten vials of Tier Five Blood Generation Pills, every single one of them high-grade.
He glanced at the mission information in his [Thief’s Mark]. It seemed this was the only mission he could prepare for in advance. The other two required meeting the clients first: one was to concoct two bottles of Body Refining Nutrient Liquid, and the other required a Snake-type Magical Beast Poison Sac.
He left the hotel and followed the location marked in the mission details. After taking a few flying taxis, he finally managed to successfully complete the Blood Generation Pill and the poison sac missions. All that was left was the Body Refining Nutrient Liquid mission.
He just wondered how many sets of materials the client had prepared. After all, the ingredients for Body Refining Nutrient Liquid were quite expensive.
From what Feng Hao knew, in the alchemy system of the Ancient Cang Realm, Body Refining Nutrient Liquid was the lowest-grade strength-enhancing medicine. It only worked if you soaked your body in it after intense exercise. Its effects were much weaker than other medicines, but its advantage was that it could be used indefinitely without the diminishing returns seen with other drugs.
"North Street - Qianyang Residential Area - Central District - Residence No. 168." Following the address in the mission details, Feng Hao finally found the Qianyang Residential Area.
He wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t seen it, but the sight was a shock. This was definitely a high-end residential area, filled with nothing but detached villas, each with a unique style. If this were on Earth, it would be no less impressive than an architectural exhibition.
’Damn, it wouldn’t be bad to get a house here in the future. I just wonder what the prices are like!’
Feng Hao sighed in sincere admiration. He followed the neatly planned road to the central residential area, and after looking at a few villas, he quickly figured out the numbering system. He then broke into a sprint and soon arrived in front of Villa No. 168.
Compared to the flamboyantly styled villas around it, this one looked relatively normal. It was grand, simple, and conventional.
He walked up and knocked lightly on the door, and received a quick response.
With a BZZT, a screen was revealed on the mechanical security door. A moment later, an unfamiliar face appeared on the screen. It was a young girl, tan-skinned and with a somewhat playful look. A pair of golden pigtails swayed on either side of her head.
"What hick dares to disturb my cultivation?" the girl on the screen said, displeased.
Feng Hao was startled by the high-tech gadgetry. It took him a moment to recover before he frowned in annoyance. "Excuse me, is the client ’Three Punches Kills Dad’ here? I’m here for a job."
’To be honest, he’d been pretty flabbergasted when he first saw the client’s name.’
It was normal not to use one’s real name when posting a mission. Most clients used an alias or just their surname, like John Doe, Jane Smith, Mr. Smith, or Ms. Jones.
’But the client for this particular mission was actually named ’Three Punches Kills Dad.’ What the hell kind of name was that? Anyone who didn’t know better might think he’d traveled back to Earth. Only in games on Earth would you find such a ridiculous ID.’
The playful-looking girl was stunned for a moment, her eyes filled with doubt. "You accepted my mission? Are you kidding me?"
"It’s just a low-level job. I could do it with my eyes closed. Hurry up and open the door. Don’t waste my time," Feng Hao said, getting annoyed.
SLAM!
The mechanical security door was thrown open, and the playful-looking girl appeared before Feng Hao, her face flushed with anger. With her hands on her hips, she snapped, "What kind of attitude is that? Piss me off, and I’ll give you three punches."
"Uh, are you indirectly calling me Dad?" Feng Hao asked, a playful glint in his eyes.
The girl looked utterly confused, subconsciously knitting her brows.
"Isn’t your name ’Three Punches Kills Dad’?" Feng Hao explained.
"Bastard! How dare you try to take advantage of me? Take this!" the girl roared, swinging her fist to attack.
Feng Hao, of course, wasn’t afraid. ’She’s just a level-thirty rich girl, no threat to me at all.’ He dodged the punch, smoothly grabbing her wrist and twisting it in a 360-degree spin, instantly putting her in a lock.
"I don’t have time to screw around with you," Feng Hao said, his expression grim. "Give me a straight answer about the job. If you don’t want to use me, that’s fine. It’s not hard to cancel the mission."
The girl was pinned and couldn’t move. Her face scrunched up in pain, which only intensified the more she struggled.
"Bastard! I’m going to file a complaint with the Thief God Hall! A complaint—!" Three Punches Kills Dad shrieked.
"Cut the crap. Are you hiring me or not?" Feng Hao asked impatiently.
"No way! I’m not hiring you! Have your boss send someone competent," Three Punches Kills Dad said, putting on the air that the customer is always right. Even while pinned by Feng Hao, she remained impossibly arrogant.
Feng Hao sneered and held out his hand. "Fine by me. Give me the Commission Crystal."
"What? You want the Commission Crystal without even doing the job?" Three Punches Kills Dad demanded angrily.
"You’re the one who won’t let me do it. I can’t have made this trip for nothing, can I?"
The so-called Commission Crystal was a token the client received after posting a mission in the Thief God Hall. After completing the mission, one would receive the crystal, which could then be submitted to the Thief God Hall to get the corresponding points.
At that moment, Three Punches Kills Dad felt the urge to cry. She muttered under her breath, "The Thief God Hall really does play dirty. This is blatant robbery!"
"Then why did you post a mission with the Thief God Hall if you knew that?" Feng Hao sneered, curling his lip.
"Fine, fine! I give in, alright? Now let me go and concoct the medicine properly," Three Punches Kills Dad finally conceded, admitting defeat.
"That’s more like it." Feng Hao casually released her and walked into the villa without a second thought, looking around and clicking his tongue in amazement.
Three Punches Kills Dad followed him in, her face livid. "What are you looking at?" she said through gritted teeth. "There’s nothing valuable in my house!"
"Tsk. I’m a professional Alchemist, I don’t do theft jobs," Feng Hao scoffed. He looked up and asked, "The materials? Hurry up and bring them out. Don’t waste time."
"Here. Six sets of materials in total." Three Punches Kills Dad reluctantly took out the materials, her eyes full of doubt. "Let me make things clear. If you can’t produce two bottles of Body Refining Nutrient Liquid, I’m not giving you the crystal."
Feng Hao’s eyes lit up. He gleefully took the six sets of materials and said confidently, "Don’t worry. I’m a professional."
"Yeah, right," Three Punches Kills Dad muttered, curling her lip in disdain.
