"So you knew them all along. You cheated!" Qin Susu felt like she’d been tricked.

Li Yang, on the other hand, was surprised. "You knew them already? Have you done business with them before?"

"Not exactly!" Ren Jing said, shaking her head. "It’s just that for people in sales, having more friends means more opportunities. That’s why I’ve been spending time in this area, making a point to get to know them. That Brother Liu is from out of town, and I helped him with all the application materials for his kids’ schooling. As for Sister Meng, she had her second child, so I helped take care of her for a while..."

Ren Jing went on to explain what she had done.

"The compensation is a base salary of three thousand, with a five percent commission."

"That’s too low!" Ren Jing shook her head. "I won’t argue about the base salary, but for the commission, I want ten percent."

"Are you crazy?!" Qin Susu retorted.

"I agree!" Li Yang said. "We’ll do as you say. Ten percent."

"Li, you’re choosing a pretty face over your friends!" Qin Susu was furious.

Li Yang gave a wry smile. "Miss Ren, it’s settled then. Please exchange contact information with President Qin. We’re colleagues from now on. Please put your heart into this water business."

"Understood!" Ren Jing glanced at Qin Susu. "I have no quarrel with money. As long as the business does well, everything will be fine."

"Good!" Li Yang nodded.

After Ren Jing left, Li Yang said to Qin Susu in exasperation, "Look, that woman is really capable. Even though she’s never done business with those people, she already built a good relationship with them. She’s smart. We’re just starting out, and she’s exactly the kind of person we need to expand the market. Why are you giving her such a hard time?"

Qin Susu glared at Li Yang. "You heartless jerk. I’m done talking to you."

"I’m being serious!" Li Yang sighed.

Only then did Li Yang break into a smile.

After running around all day, he felt that, on the whole, it had been a rather successful day.

Later that afternoon, Li Yang returned to the village alone.

"How did it go?" Gao Xin Xue asked, walking over as soon as she saw Li Yang. "I heard you’re back in sales?"

Li Yang chuckled. "Susu took all the money meant for paving the roads and used it to build a water plant. I have to do my part to help, don’t I?"

Gao Xin Xue nodded.

"Sister Gao, you’ve been corrupted." But as Li Yang took in Gao Xin Xue’s exquisite figure, he feigned a pained expression. "How did you become just like Aunt Rong? You’ve both been led astray."

Gao Xin Xue’s pretty face flushed. ’That night, I really was a bit reckless.’

’I don’t know what’s gotten into me. If it had been anyone else, I would have been dead set against it, but the moment I heard it was Li Yang, I was actually quite willing.’

"Alright, let’s go eat!" Li Yang said, heading to the Angler’s Center.

The Angler’s Center served food now, so Li Yang and Gao Xin Xue ate there every day. It saved them the trouble of running around and cooking for themselves.

Aunt Min was clearing a table. Hearing him, she laughed. "Xiaoyang, you can say that again! We’ve had a ton of people coming in every single day. Look at me—I haven’t had a moment’s rest."

"Hey, Lao Zhang, how are you holding up?" Li Yang called out to the husband of the newly hired couple.

"I’m doing great!" Lao Zhang was clearly a simple and honest man. He grinned at Li Yang and said, "This place is great. It’s much quieter than the city, and we’re getting customers. They all say my cooking is pretty good."
