The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 320: Great Serpent
Chapter 320 -321: Great Serpent
They wasted no time and set up camp right then and there.
Zhou Jianlin and Chen Quan found a tree and climbed it, giving them a high vantage point to watch the area. Li Yang, meanwhile, found a large rock and sat down to wait for any sign of activity.
They waited for two full hours, but there was still no sign of anything.
The two men in the tree were reaching their limit. Zhou Jianlin in particular, being just a middle-aged businessman, couldn’t take much more. He was just about to suggest giving up.
But just then, they saw Li Yang suddenly drop to the ground. He seemed to have heard something, and he became completely still.
A jolt of tension shot through them, and they hugged the tree trunk tightly, not daring to make a sound.
And they were right. Li Yang had indeed heard something.
HISSS…
RUSTLE…
The first was the sound of a flicking tongue.
The second, the sound of something crushing the undergrowth.
That’s right—it was a massive snake!
Li Yang grew excited. ‘Looks like I was right. It really is a huge snake. But why would it come here to eat Iron Wire Grass Fruit?’
The massive snake drew closer and closer, and soon the others could hear it too.
Being high in the tree, Zhou Jianlin and Chen Quan could see farther.
Following the sound with their eyes, both men instantly froze, their bodies stiff with fear.
They watched as a massive snake slithered into view in the clearing below.
The snake was enormous—a single person probably couldn’t even wrap their arms around it.
The undergrowth collapsed, flattened by the snake’s massive body as it passed.
Its forked tongue flicked in and out, a terrifying flash of scarlet.
The sight of such a snake would paralyze any normal person with fear.
Just like Zhou Jianlin and Chen Quan, who were now so terrified they couldn’t move a muscle, their eyes fixed on the giant serpent.
Li Yang saw it too and took a deep breath.
‘Holy hell,’ he thought. ‘This thing is even bigger than the one I saw in the next village!’
‘The deep wilderness of Qishan Mountain must be vast to have spawned a snake like this.’
‘If it hadn’t run into me today… this snake might have ended up causing trouble for Qishan Village.’
The snake quickly slithered over to the Iron Wire Grass. Finding no fruit on the plants, it seemed somewhat disappointed.
Zhou Jianlin and Chen Quan were trembling, praying that the massive snake would just leave.
But just then, Li Yang noticed something wasn’t right.
The snake appeared to be injured!
Yes, on its body, there appeared to be a gunshot wound.
‘A gunshot wound!’
Li Yang was stunned. ‘How could this have happened?’
‘I get it now. The reason the snake was going after the Iron Wire Grass was to treat its injury.’
The Iron Wire Grass Fruit is indeed poisonous—fatal for small animals. But for a snake this large, not only is it not toxic, but it actually acts as a painkiller and helps heal wounds.
‘No wonder… So that’s what’s going on.’
‘But why would this snake have a wound like that? Something’s not right here.’
A thought spurred Li Yang into action, and he instantly leaped down from the rock.
‘My God…’
Zhou Jianlin was so startled he nearly fell from the tree. ‘What is that guy doing? Why is he going out there now?’
The great snake sensed the movement behind it. It whipped its head around and reared up instantly, coiling into an attack posture.
Li Yang stood his ground. Gazing at the immense, reared-up snake, he spoke, “So you’re injured. Is that why you came here to eat the Iron Wire Grass Fruit? Who hurt you?”
The snake flicked its tongue, and killing intent flared in its triangular eyes.
Clearly, it was extremely wary of Li Yang.
Having just escaped a life-or-death situation, it was suspicious of any human it encountered, assuming they were part of another plot. Naturally, the snake was not about to be friendly.
“I mean you no harm…” Li Yang slowly entered a mysterious, profound state, as if he could communicate directly with the snake. “Listen to me. I only came to look at this Iron Wire Grass. I have no ill will toward you. Who hurt you? Where are they? Why did they do it…?”
“Run!” To Zhou Jianlin and Chen Quan, it looked like Li Yang was completely encircled by the massive serpent. They yelled in a panic, “Run! Are you fucking insane?”
From their perspective, if that snake made a single move, Li Yang was a dead man.
How could anyone possibly escape an attack from a snake that size?!
The two men were beside themselves with anxiety, but Li Yang remained as calm as if he were taking a stroll in a garden.
The snake flicked its tongue, poised to strike. But then, it seemed to understand Li Yang’s words. A look of confusion appeared on its… face? And it slowly began to lower its guard.
Li Yang held out his hand. “I really don’t mean you any harm. How about it? Let’s shake on it.”
The two men nearly fell out of the tree. ‘He’s really lost his mind! That’s a giant snake! What kind of ‘shaking on it’ can you do with a snake?!’
But then, the unthinkable happened!
The snake actually let go of its killing intent. Instead, it lowered itself, bringing its enormous head right in front of Li Yang. After a moment’s hesitation, it gently touched his hand.
Li Yang gently stroked its head.
The snake instantly relaxed completely. All traces of killing intent vanished from its triangular eyes, replaced by a look of what could only be described as admiration for Li Yang.
Li Yang smiled faintly. “Now, can you tell me who hurt you this badly?”
