Chapter 35: Chapter 36: Liu Qian’s Face is Swollen
Li Yang frowned and hurried over. "Ha Er."
"Li Yang!" Ha Er looked a little awkward as he quickly came to stand before Li Yang. "Let’s go."
"What are you doing here?" Li Yang was a little curious.
"No wonder you two get along. Birds of a feather flock together, after all!" Liu Qian said, looking at Li Yang with disdain. "Are you stalking me now? Let me tell you, I’m not interested in a loser like you, so get lost! If you keep following me, I’m calling the police!"
Li Yang stared at her as if she were an idiot.
"Li Yang, let’s just go," Ha Er said, pulling him away.
It seemed to dawn on Li Yang. "You want to work here?"
Ha Er gave a hollow laugh. "I... It was just a crazy idea. I’m not a college graduate, how could I possibly work here? I was just asking Liu Qian about it."
Without a doubt, he wanted to work here.
Li Yang took a deep breath. "If you wanted to work here, why didn’t you tell me?"
Evidently, after being rejected by Liu Qian, Ha Er had remembered that Li Yang knew Manager Han, which was why he had asked him for an introduction to work as a chef.
"You?" Liu Qian burst out laughing. "That’s hilarious! I mean, Li Yang, who do you think you are? You know one hotel manager and suddenly you think you’re hot shit? And what’s this about being a supplier? Aren’t you just some small-time farmer selling vegetables?"
"Li Yang, let’s go. Don’t listen to her nonsense," Ha Er said, tugging Li Yang’s hand to get him to leave.
But Li Yang didn’t move. Instead, he looked at Ha Er seriously. "I’m just asking you, do you want to work here or not?"
"Yes!" Ha Er nodded, then said pleadingly, "Li Yang, let’s not embarrass ourselves anymore. Even if I want to work here, it’s impossible."
"That’s simple. I’ll go talk to the boss for you. She’ll let you work here," Li Yang said earnestly.
"Haha..." Liu Qian was laughing so hard she had to bend over. "You two really are two peas in a pod. Li Yang, you’ve got some nerve! You really think the boss will hire him just because you say so? Who do you think you are? Aren’t you afraid of making a fool of yourself? You’re just a little farmer. Why on earth would President Su listen to you?!"
Liu Qian was practically dying from laughter.
Ha Er couldn’t take it anymore either. "Li Yang, stop messing around. Being a chef is fine, really..."
"That’s right, a farmer and a chef... Why don’t you two open a little fast-food joint? It’s perfect—one of you can grow the vegetables, and the other can cook them. A match made in heaven," Liu Qian continued to mock.
Just then, a car screeched to a halt at the main entrance.
Su Yunmeng hurried out. She didn’t look pleased.
"Sister Su..." Li Yang immediately walked up to her.
Liu Qian gloated inwardly. ’Sister Su... Who does he think he is? She’s President Su! Can’t he see she’s in a bad mood?’
’You’re so screwed!’
"I heard what was said just now!" To her utter astonishment, the next scene made Liu Qian’s jaw drop. "This is your classmate, right? He can come work for our company."
"Thanks, Sister Su!" Li Yang smiled.
What!
Both Liu Qian and Ha Er were stunned, staring at Li Yang in disbelief.
"President Su, he..." Liu Qian could no longer speak coherently.
Su Yunmeng shot her a look of disgust. "Let me make a formal introduction. This is Li Yang, my partner in this company. He’s also your boss."
What!
Liu Qian felt her legs go weak.
’So Li Yang really wasn’t here to see me and He Hui before... He’s actually the owner of this company, which means he’s my boss.’
How pathetic I am...
At this thought, she began to tremble uncontrollably.
"P-President Li..."
Li Yang just shook his head.
"Let’s talk inside," Su Yunmeng said to Li Yang.
"Let’s go!" Li Yang called to Ha Er.
Ha Er felt like he was still in a dream.
’My buddy is actually the boss here? Damn! Without even realizing it, I’ve latched onto such a powerful backer.’
Ha Er suddenly broke into a grin. He turned to glance at the crestfallen Liu Qian. "Liu Qian, not laughing anymore, are you?"
Liu Qian wanted to cry.
Once inside, Su Yunmeng called her secretary over. "This is President Li’s classmate. Find a suitable position for him, one with room for growth. It doesn’t have to be a high-level starting point, but it must be a good fit for him."
"Yes, ma’am!"
Li Yang smiled at Ha Er. "Go on. Work hard."
"Okay!" Ha Er was a little sheepish now. "Li Yang, thank you."
"What’s there to be polite about between us!"
Ha Er left with the secretary, and Li Yang followed Su Yunmeng to her office.
"There aren’t many people like you these days," Su Yunmeng remarked with a sigh. "Look at your classmates—you and Liu Qian are such a stark contrast."
Li Yang felt too embarrassed to claim any noble character, so he just gave a dry laugh. "Ha Er and I are just really good friends."
Su Yunmeng just smiled faintly without a word.
’This guy is kind at heart,’ she thought. ’He might be a bit wild sometimes, but he’s a genuinely good person.’
"Oh, right. Don’t go back today. Come to my place for dinner," Su Yunmeng said. "My aunt will be back with the groceries in a minute. You two can head over first, and I’ll come back after I finish up here."
"Alright!" Li Yang stood up immediately. "Then I’ll go take a walk outside first."
"Go take a look around our company. You haven’t had a proper tour yet," Su Yunmeng said with a smile.
