The prophecy had rewritten itself, bleeding fresh crimson across the celestial map. For three agonizing days, the star charts had remained still, lulling the command bridge into a false sense of security.

Then, without a single whisper of warning, the first planetary marker flickered and died.

Rhaevia stood inside the command chamber of the Rythundeir flagship, her hands resting flat against the edge of the holographic tactical table. Above the polished surface, a vibrant blue world flickered violently before shifting into a harsh, hollow red.

A notification flashed across the display in blinding white text:

[PLANETARY SIGNAL LOST.]

A suffocating silence descended over the entire bridge. Crew members froze at their stations, afraid to even breathe as the cold reality of the projection settled over them.

"Civilian population?" the Duchess asked, her voice calm but laced with a lethal underlying tension.

The military officer standing beside her swallowed hard, his throat working as he stared at the readout. "Approximately twelve million, Your Grace."

Rhaevia’s fingers curled into tight fists, her nails biting deep into her palms. "Twelve million people..."

She forced herself to look back at the dying projection, analyzing every byte of incoming telemetry. There had been no preliminary warp signatures, no standard Zerg swarm formations, no pirate fleet incursions, and no signs of an Imperial rebellion.

The entire planet had simply gone dark, snuffed out like a candle in a sudden draft.

Before anyone could voice a theory, a secondary marker began flashing violently on the outer rim of the projection.

[PLANETARY DISTRESS SIGNAL DETECTED.]

This time, a live visual feed forced its way through the ship’s comms relay. It was a remote mining colony, its atmosphere choked by thick clouds of black smoke while massive urban centers burned beneath.

Thousands of emergency beacons flooded the tactical display, screaming for assistance that was millions of miles away.

Rhaevia felt something inside her chest tighten, a sharp, suffocating pressure that seized her breath. Deep within her energetic pathways, her Sovereign Core flared to life, illuminating her internal channels with suppressed power.

It was not reacting out of fear but out of a dark, unmistakable recognition.

That suffocating energy pulsing through the distress feed was identical to the ancient pressure she had felt beneath Planet V-17. It was the presence hidden behind her altered memories, the ancient entity that had remained sealed for countless cycles.

"The enemy has moved," she whispered, her voice barely carrying across the console.

Raevor stood directly beside her, his broad arms crossed firmly over his dark military tunic. His sharp jawline hardened, his dark eyes fixated on the burning colony.

"How certain are you?" Raevor asked, his low tone slicing through the background hum of the consoles.

Rhaevia lifted her head, meeting his intense gaze without flinching. "I can feel it in my core."

The bridge fell silent once more as the officers waited for their command. Rhaevia took a firm step toward the center of the tactical projection, her authority naturally spilling into the room.

"Where is the nearest fleet positioned?" she demanded, turning toward the tactical officer.

The young officer checked his console hurriedly. "Thirty-seven minutes from the colony, Ma’am."

"Then we deploy immediately," Rhaevia declared, already preparing to signal her escort.

"No."

Raevor’s answer came without a moment of hesitation, sharp and absolute. Rhaevia turned toward him, her brow furrowed in disbelief.

"No?" she repeated, her voice rising slightly.

"You are not entering an unknown battlefield," Raevor stated, turning his full gaze upon her.

"People are dying down there, Raevor!"

"I know," he replied, his tone remaining infuriatingly steady.

"Then let me go down and help!"

Raevor took a deliberate step closer, closing the distance between them until he towered over her. His dark, steady eyes remained completely locked onto hers.

"I am not refusing because I doubt your strength, Rhaevia," he said.

"Then why stop me?"

"Because we have no intelligence on what we are facing."

Rhaevia’s jaw tightened, her pride flaring up against his caution. "I’ve faced worse than an unknown fleet."

"You faced the Zombie King," Raevor reminded her, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.

"And I survived!"

"You died."

The blunt words hit her like a physical blow, freezing the breath in her lungs. Raevor’s icy expression didn’t shatter, but something deeply painful flickering in his dark eyes betrayed his composure.

"You died once believing you had already understood the nature of your enemy," he said, his voice laced with an unspoken grief. "I am not letting you repeat that mistake."

Rhaevia stared up at him, the frantic noise of the bridge fading into white noise around them. In that quiet moment, the realization washed over her with sudden clarity.

He was not treating her like a military asset or a fragile weapon to be preserved. He was genuinely terrified.

Not of her power, but of losing her again.

"I won’t go alone," she said eventually, letting her defensive posture soften.

The tension in Raevor’s shoulders relaxed, his harsh gaze softening by the smallest degree. "You won’t."

Rhaevia blinked, slightly caught off guard by his sudden shift. "You’re coming with me?"

"I said I won’t let you enter the battlefield alone," he answered smoothly.

A faint, breathless smile touched her lips despite the looming disaster. "You make that sound like a formal military order, General."

"It isn’t," he replied, a tiny ghost of a smirk threatening his own lips.

"Good."

She turned her attention back toward the tactical map, her posture straightening. "Then we are going together."

Raevor shifted his weight, stepping directly alongside her until their shoulders nearly touched. The tiny distance between them vanished in an instant.

Immediately, her Guide Core responded to his physical proximity. A surge of familiar, pure warmth radiated from him, spreading through her body and soothing her strained nerves.

A bright cyan prompt materialized across her vision:

[SENTINEL-GUIDE RESONANCE DETECTED.]

Below it, a second line pulsed with brilliant energy:

[CURRENT RESONANCE: 100%.]

Rhaevia looked down at the notification before turning her eyes back to Raevor. Neither of them uttered a word.

They both understood the weight of that impossible metric. Whatever nightmare was crawling out of the dark void, they were bound to face it as one.

"Reroute the fleet," Raevor commanded, his powerful voice immediately ringing out across the bridge.

Massive sub-light engines roared into life outside the hull as the Rythundeir flagship banked sharply, accelerating toward the endangered colony. Around them, dozens of heavily armored military vessels broke formation, maneuvering into tight defensive positions.

Raevor stepped up to the main command dais, his tone crisp and commanding. "Deploy long-range reconnaissance units ahead of our vanguard."

"Yes, General!" the navigation officer shouted back.

"Activate all planetary evacuation protocols for the remaining surface sectors," Raevor ordered without pause.

"Understood, General!"

"All weapon platforms remain at high alert but do not engage unidentified forces until my direct order."

The fleet hurtled forward through the void, cutting through space toward the burning star system. Rhaevia stood right by Raevor’s side, watching the distant stellar coordinates expand on the main display.

Then, without warning, every primary light in the command chamber went black.

The glowing holographic projection vanished into thin air, leaving the room shrouded in emergency red luminescence. A piercing warning alarm began screaming through the ship’s internal speakers.

[UNKNOWN VESSEL DETECTED.]

Raevor snapped his head toward the sensor pit immediately. "Location?"

The tactical officer stared blankly at his dead console, the red emergency lighting casting severe shadows across his pale face.

"General..." the officer stuttered, his voice trembling violently.

"Report, Officer!" Raevor barked.

"There is... there is a fleet, sir."

Raevor’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits. "How many ships?"

The officer’s hands shook uncontrollably over his manual interface. "I... I can’t determine an accurate count."

"Why not?"

"Because they aren’t dropping out of warp," the officer gasped, looking up in sheer terror. "They are materializing directly inside our active sensor perimeter!"

One by one, blinding crimson markers began popping into existence across the backup emergency display. Ten contact signatures quickly multiplied into a hundred.

A hundred rapidly surged into a thousand, and then thousands more filled every inch of the tactical grid.

Raevor took a sharp step forward, his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of his sidearm. At his side, Rhaevia felt her Sovereign Core erupt with unimaginable pressure.

Ancient, golden energy flooded out from her body, pulsing outward and causing the massive steel bulkheads of the flagship to hum and vibrate. Beyond the primary reinforced viewport, the vast starry field of outer space began to warp and darken.

An immense, jagged black warship slowly emerged directly out of the empty void. Then another colossal nightmare broke through the veil, followed by a third, until an entire alien armada blocked out the light of the nearby sun.

Rhaevia’s breath caught in her throat as her vision swam with phantom shadows.

Suddenly, a voice echoed directly inside her mind. It was ancient, chillingly cold, and horribly familiar.

"At last."

Her eyes widened in horror as the mental intrusion deepened, echoing through the hollow depths of her soul.

"We have finally found our Sovereign."

A terrifying, blood-red system banner burned itself into her consciousness:

[THIRD SOVEREIGN FACTION: ARRIVAL CONFIRMED.]
