The Trash Guide Awakens: The Youngest General's Hidden Wife

Chapter 87: The Enemy Calls Her Sovereign

The silence hanging inside the bridge was a physical weight pressing against the reinforced viewport.

Beyond the thick armor-glass, thousands of sleek, abyssal warships hovered in rigid formation against the cold void of the star domain. At the epicenter stood the mammoth flagship, its obsidian hull drinking in the ambient light of distant nebulae without reflecting a single ray.

Rhaevia stood frozen as the echoes of the spoken title reverberated within the dark corridors of her mind. My Sovereign.

The phrase felt ancient, heavy, and terrifyingly familiar, as though a key had been turned inside a lock she never knew existed.

A sudden, sharp heat ignited deep within her chest. Her Sovereign Core reacted with violent intensity to the presence of the dread fleet, pulsing in an erratic rhythm.

Golden lines of raw energy crawled across her skin, tracing shimmering circuits over her forearms while ancient symbols flickered like dying embers behind her eyes.

System notifications flared across her field of vision in rapid succession, painting her inner HUD in harsh crimson and luminous gold.

[ANCIENT SOVEREIGN SIGNATURE: MATCH CONFIRMED.]

[HOSTILE SOVEREIGN SIGNATURE: DETECTED.]

Her lungs tightened, forcing her breathing into shallow, uneven gasps. The golden light on her skin intensified, illuminating her tense profile against the dim command console.

"It’s recognizing me," she whispered, her voice barely carrying over the hum of the bridge’s life-support systems.

Raevor closed the distance between them in a single swift stride, his boots clacking sharply against the metallic deck plating. His dark eyes narrowed into dangerous, icy slits as he scanned her erratic energy readings.

"Rhaevia," he said, his voice dropping into a low, commanding rumble. "Who is recognizing you?"

"I don’t know," she admitted truthfully, her fingers trembling as she clutched the edge of the hololith table. "I don’t know, but the Core... it knows them."

Out on the observation deck of the distant flagship, the towering figure made its first movement. It slowly raised a single, armor-clad hand, the dark gauntlet catching the faint ambient glow of distant stellar fires.

The gesture triggered an immediate reaction across the surrounding fleet. Hulls slid open along thousands of dark vessels, and countless soldiers poured out into the vacuum, tethered by grav-tethers or standing atop boarding platforms.

They were neither human nor Zerg. Their armor was fashioned from a strange, light-absorbing metal that seemed to warp the space around their contours, giving them an almost spectral appearance against the cosmos.

As one, the soldiers reached for their helmets. Latches hissed, releasing pressurized atmosphere as the headpieces folded back to reveal pale, angular faces with hollow eyes.

Then every soldier dropped to one knee. Their heads bowed in unison, weapons lowered toward the cold deck of their platforms.

They were not kneeling toward the towering commander on the flagship. Their posture, their alignment, and their unspoken reverence were directed straight across the void toward Rhaevia.

An eerie wave of unified whispers spilled through the unfiltered quantum channels, washing over the tactical comms.

"Sovereign..."

"She has finally manifested."

"The ancient signature... it shines again."

"The one who abandoned the eternal throne..."

The blood drained from Rhaevia’s face as the whispers grew in volume, overlapping into an oceanic roar of ghostly voices. She took an involuntary step back, her back striking the cold steel of the console support.

Before she could process the weight of their reverence, a voice surged through the military network, thunderous and unyielding. It echoed across every frequency, broadcasting to allied Sentinels and Imperial warships alike.

"The False Queen has returned!"

Raevor’s composure cracked, his jaw clenching as his gaze whipped toward the encrypted comms array. His Sentinel aura flared outward in immediate response to the psychological threat, cold and sharp as a vibro-blade.

"False Queen?" Raevor spat, his voice laced with venom. "What madness are they spouting?"

Rhaevia opened her mouth to speak, but no sound emerged from her dry throat. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped beast.

A second voice, slick and dark, joined the broadcast, resonating inside the minds of every soldier on the bridge.

"She wears the Sovereign’s soul," the voice mockingly declared.

"She carries the ancient authority in her marrow," another voice chimed in from across the enemy ranks. "Yet look at her... she is not the Queen."

A third voice burst into cruel, rattling laughter that sent chills down the spines of the bridge crew.

"She has forgotten again!"

Rhaevia felt her breath catch in her chest as her mind reeled. Again?

The realization hit her like a physical blow. The enemy fleet was not merely identifying her power signature through automated sensors. They possessed an intimate, terrifying knowledge of her existence that surpassed her own memory banks.

Her fingers dug into the edge of the console. The metal groaned under her desperate grip.

"What do you mean, I’ve forgotten?" she demanded, her voice cutting through the comms network with raw, trembling force.

On the distant observation deck, the towering commander took a slow, deliberate step toward the transparent barrier. Its crimson, hollow eyes burned through the dark void, remaining locked onto Rhaevia with absolute, agonizing focus.

"You truly don’t remember, do you?" the commander murmured, its voice echoing with the dry rustle of ancient parchment.

The moment the words registered, Rhaevia’s Sovereign Core detonated with mental force. A blinding, searing pain pierced through her temples, fracturing her vision into jagged shards of light.

Memories that did not belong to her current life exploded inside her skull in violent, rapid-fire imagery.

She saw a sprawling palace built of polished silver, gleaming beneath the light of twin suns. She saw a vast, blood-soaked battlefield stretching beneath the eerie crimson glow of a shattered moon.

She saw an ancient, towering throne forged from dark star-metal, surrounded by thousands of kneeling, armored figures. And standing in the center of that bloody memory was a woman draped in black-and-silver armor, her face obscured by radiant golden light, yet unmistakably her.

Rhaevia staggered violently as the vision snapped, her knees buckling under the sheer weight of the mental feedback.

Raevor reacted instantly, his arm shooting out to catch her before she hit the deck. His grip on her shoulder was firm, grounded, and unyielding as he pulled her back against his chest.

"Rhaevia!" he shouted, his Sentinel energy flaring to form a protective psychic barrier around her mind.

"I saw..." She gasped for air, her pupils trembling as she clutched at her temple. "Raevor, I saw... myself."

Across the comms, the enemy commander’s smile was audible in its chilling composure.

"Of course you did," the creature purred.

Raevor shifted his body, stepping directly between Rhaevia and the viewport to block the creature’s sightline. His hand dropped to the hilt of his sidearm, his physical power surging until the air around him hummed with static electricity.

"You will not speak to her again," Raevor warned, his eyes narrowing into deadly focus.

The figure tilted its head with agonizing slowness, studying the major general’s protective stance.

"Still protecting her?" the creature mused, a faint hint of amusement tinting its tone.

Raevor’s stance shifted, his expression darkening into an icy mask of suspicion. "You know me?"

The creature ignored his question, its crimson eyes shifting slightly to track Rhaevia behind him.

"Across every era, across every shattered cycle," the commander continued, raising its hand to gesture toward Raevor, "you always choose a Sentinel."

Rhaevia froze, her mind locking onto the word. Cycle.

Raevor’s aura spiked to a dangerous level, his voice dropping an octave into a lethal whisper. "What did you say?"

The commander raised its gauntleted hand higher, making a swift, downward-sweeping motion.

Behind the figure, thousands of black-armored soldiers slowly lowered their rifles and energy blades. They did not prepare an offensive strike. Instead, they slammed their fists against their breastplates in a crisp, terrifyingly synchronized military salute.

"In the First Cycle," another voice declared from the enemy fleet, "she was the Sovereign who built the empire."

A second voice rose from a nearby cruiser. "In the Second Cycle, she was the queen who shattered the throne and buried the star lanes in blood."

A third, softer voice whispered like wind through dry leaves. "She was the general who betrayed the ancient kingdom to save a dying race."

Rhaevia’s face turned ash-white as the words battered her consciousness.

"That isn’t true," she choked out, shaking her head in denial. "I’m a Guide. I was a General on Earth. I..."

The enemy commander smiled, the dark metal of its faceplate shifting slightly. "Isn’t it?"

Her Sovereign Core erupted in a blinding flash of blinding light.

BOOM!

A wave of physical and psychic force exploded outward from her body, tearing through the bridge. The shockwave slammed into the surrounding consoles, sending sparks cascading from the displays and forcing the nearby officers back against the bulkheads.

The ancient symbols within her mind burned with searing brilliance, searing themselves into her neural pathways.

For one terrifying second, the noise of the bridge faded entirely, replaced by the deafening screams of millions of dying soldiers echoing across time. They were calling out to her, begging for guidance, shouting a title that predated human language.

It was not Rhaevia. It was not General. It was a name wrapped in ancient authority, one her human mind could not yet comprehend.

The enemy commander’s voice cut through the psychic screams, landing with cold, terrifying precision.

"You don’t remember the lives you lived before Earth, do you?"

Rhaevia’s pupils contracted into tiny points. Beside her, Raevor turned his head sharply, his dark eyes locking onto her face with profound intensity.

"Earth?" Raevor repeated, the word sounding alien on his tongue.

The enemy creature chuckled softly, the sound vibrating through the hull plating of the ship.

"Yes," the creature said, its tone dripping with an ancient, undeniable certainty that chilled the blood of everyone listening. "We know about your first death."

Rhaevia stopped breathing altogether, her heart halting in her chest.

"And your second," the creature added mercilessly.

Another agonizing pulse of raw energy surged from her core, rattling the light fixtures overhead.

"And all the forgotten lives between them," the commander finished.

Raevor’s gloved hand tightened around hers, his fingers weaving firmly through hers to anchor her against the storm raging in her body.

The enemy commander raised its head toward the ceiling of its observation deck, its crimson eyes flaring bright against the blackness.

"You always forget," the creature whispered into the silent void.

It paused, letting the silence stretch until it became suffocating.

"And every time you return..." The creature’s eyes glowed with terrifying malice. "You become someone else."

Rhaevia stared out at the dark, silent fleet covering the stars, feeling unadulterated fear settle into her chest for the first time since her awakening.

They knew her. They knew the secret she had guarded in her heart and the history she had buried beneath layers of battle-hardened resolve.

More terrifying than that, they possessed the truth of a past she could not even access.

New golden text burst violently across her vision, flickering rapidly against the dark overlay of her mind.

[ANCIENT MEMORY INTERFERENCE DETECTED.]

[MULTIPLE PREVIOUS LIFE SIGNATURES IDENTIFIED.]

A final, blood-red line flared beneath the system warnings, lingering with ominous clarity.

[WARNING: MEMORY RECORDS HAVE BEEN DELIBERATELY SEALED.]

Rhaevia’s breath hitched as her eyes widened in realization.

The enemy had not simply recognized her presence today. They had been waiting across lifetimes for her to remember who she truly was.
