Chapter 1169: Chapter 1196: Putting on an Act (4)
Chloe Smith looked at his tense face, took a deep breath, and said helplessly, "It’s such a sin, Camden, you say you..."
"Mom." Camden River interrupted her, speaking calmly, "I know I was way out of line. It won’t happen again. When you get back, tell Dad that I want the three-bedroom apartment sold as soon as possible. I want to buy a new place in Cloud Capital."
"Got it, that’s what we mean, too." Chloe sighed.
Camden River nodded, "Hmm."
Chloe had been thrown around a bit, the impact not too severe, but she accidentally twisted her waist. After a while, she left, rubbing her waist and sighing.
Camden River was quite upset, lying in bed for a while, then got a wet towel to cover his face, and meanwhile, he highlighted key points in Mila Davis’s study materials. By evening, seeing that he had nearly finished highlighting a book, he went to Mila’s hospital room.
Mila Davis was injured more severely than he was, after a week of recovery her wounds had basically healed, and she lay on her side in bed eating an apple.
Seeing him come in, she quickly supported herself on the bed’s edge and sat up, asking, "You’re here."
"Have a seat." Mila’s mother handed him a chair, smiling faintly as she asked, "Want an apple? Shall Auntie peel one for you?"
Her parents were quite dissatisfied with Camden River’s proposal, but they couldn’t endure their daughter’s affection for him, and after a few days of struggle, they finally accepted it. Their attitude towards Camden River wasn’t bad.
Camden River quickly said, "No thank you, I just came to go over the key points with her."
Registration for the national exam was starting soon, and by the end of November the exams would be organized. Mila Davis had been studying before this and was making decent progress, but being hospitalized had delayed that. Camden River felt bad about it and offered to help her prepare for the exams.
Although he hadn’t prepared for this exam, his learning ability was evident. With his help, Mila Davis found studying naturally more effective.
Seeing them start discussing the topics, Mila’s mother had mixed feelings and found an excuse to leave.
The hospital room was very quiet.
Mila Davis lay against the headboard, her gaze constantly following Camden River’s fingertips.
The study book lay on the table beside the bed, and Camden River sat by her side, pointing out key points with a pen while patiently explaining them to Mila.
With past exam types, knowledge points, and answer strategies, he explained very methodically, with a focused and serious expression, his voice unhurried, all striking a very fitting balance, appearing almost like a teacher.
"Got it?" Camden River suddenly asked.
Mila Davis was startled, meeting his sideways gaze.
"Got what?"
She started to feel uneasy.
The corner of the table was only so big, and with both of them looking at the questions, naturally they were quite close. She could smell his faint and elegant scent, see his lowered profile, and watch his distinctly jointed fingers, listen to his slightly low and patient voice, and she had already tossed the questions to cloud nine.
She hadn’t heard a single word of what he had just said.
Mila Davis pursed her lips, raised a hand to scratch her hair, and said softly, "I didn’t quite get it, could you say it again?"
Camden River looked at her intently.
Mila Davis had just washed her hair. For the first time, she let her hair down in front of him.
Her hair wasn’t quite black, probably hadn’t been dyed, it was a slightly deeper shade of brown, naturally glossy, spilling down to frame her face which had a little meat to it. Not stunningly beautiful, yet delicate and supple, giving a sense of immediate relaxation, quite comforting.
As he watched her, her face slowly reddened, lips bitten, seeming somewhat awkward, slightly tense.
