Chapter 1176: Chapter 1203: Starting Early (6)

Since he was already here, he took the opportunity to check around the club for a while to understand the recent business progress. After midnight, he left with two bodyguards and returned to the Myres Family.

The Myres Family mansion was brightly lit.

This was a habit established during Cesar Myres’ lifetime.

From the main gate, the street lamps and hall lights at the Myres Family mansion were never turned off at night.

Ari Murphy walked steadily into the hall. He hadn’t taken two steps when he noticed Louis Cox wasn’t resting—dressed in black clothes with the television on, though he wasn’t watching it. He was sitting on the sofa smoking a cigarette.

"Why aren’t you asleep yet?" Ari Murphy approached with a smile and asked.

"Can’t sleep." Louis replied softly.

He couldn’t sleep because of the rain. Somehow, it reminded him of Mia Ginger, of that day when Camilia Davis was buried, her face washed so clean by the rain, and those dark, dark eyes.

His expression was indifferent. Ari Murphy nodded and sat on the sofa beside him.

After hesitating for a moment, he spoke, "I’m not sure if I should meddle in something?"

"Oh?" Louis turned to look at him, a smile appearing on his lips, raising an eyebrow, "Is there something that troubles you? Let’s hear it then."

"Actually, it’s not a big deal." Ari Murphy chuckled casually, his tone steady as he said, "Among the two reporters who reported about Aibo milk powder, one was targeted a few days ago. Someone has offered a bounty of three million for his head..."

"You’re talking about Camden River?" Louis interrupted him.

"You know?" Ari Murphy was a bit surprised and smiled, "I was just about to talk about him. He seems to have a close relationship with that girl, Mia Ginger. They studied abroad together and even work at the same TV station now."

"Since when did Uncle Murphy care so much about Mia Ginger?" Louis asked with a smile.

Ari Murphy gave an awkward smile and didn’t say anything.

Investigating Camden River’s injury naturally led him to easily discover his good relationship with Mia Ginger. Young and upright, that’s nice. As Mia Ginger’s friend and someone with complicated ties to Windsor Myres, giving a helping hand was something he was more than willing to do.

However—

His entanglements with Windsor Myres were not something to be made public.

Louis hadn’t thought much of it, initially asking casually. Seeing that Ari said nothing, he let it go, "Just notify those below that crossing him is like crossing me, Jimmy Cox."

"Alright." Ari Murphy nodded.

Louis exhaled, stubbed out the cigarette, and was about to get up and head upstairs when suddenly he heard a clear female voice ring out, "International news, focus tonight. Welcome to the live evening news."

Mia Ginger?

He followed the sound, standing where he was.

On the oversized LCD screen, the person had a stylish short hairstyle, a solemn expression, and as her rosy lips opened and closed, it seemed like she was looking directly at him.

The subtitles below read: "Intern Anchor, Mia Ginger."

Louis couldn’t help but smile.

Seated beside him, Ari Murphy evidently noticed too, smiling as he said, "This girl is rising quite quickly."

There’s never been such a precedent as an intern anchor. Moreover, this girl is only about twenty-three years old right now, a twenty-three-year-old "national face," which in the history of news stations, should be a new record.

As the most authoritative TV station in the country, the selection of anchors has always been stringent, especially for news anchors.

News anchors generally require short hair, big eyes, a small nose, and not too small of a mouth.

However, the eyes should appear expressive and lively, the small nose should be cute, and a slightly larger mouth makes the smile seem bright and friendly, giving the audience a good first impression, thus convincing them.

Mia Ginger’s eyes weren’t too big but likely due to makeup, appeared absolutely not small, nose small, and lips not the cherry-small type, willow-like eyebrows, apricot eyes aligning with aesthetic, inherently having a congenial quality.

She is the kind of girl that easily evokes a protective instinct in people.

However—

Louis looked at her eyes on the screen.

Her eyes, though gentle and kind, also allowed people to see a sense of earnestness in them, as well as in her voice.

Mia Ginger’s voice was very pleasant to hear, but it seldom conveyed a soft, coquettish feeling. Actually, it did, but she never acted coyly in front of Louis, hence Louis never experienced that.

Mia Ginger’s voice belonged to the clear and powerful type, likely focused on pronunciation for news broadcasting, appearing ceremonious and elegant, very dignified.

Time ticked by.

Louis stood there the whole time, unmoving, not speaking to Ari Murphy, watching her absorbedly.

He didn’t know how much time had passed; eventually, it ended.

Advertisements began on the TV, and Louis was still standing there, lost in thought.

"Louis."

Ari Murphy looked at his demeanor, feeling a bit compassionate, persuading gently, "It’s late, get some rest."

"I’ll go up in a while."

Louis turned around and sat back on the sofa, picking up his phone.

He wanted to hear Mia Ginger’s voice.

Since it was a news broadcast, she must have just finished work, making a call to congratulate her seemed appropriate, right?
