the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1523 - 1510: Cuddling Through the Spring Festival
The two of them were tangled together until the seventh day of the new year. In those few days, Chloe Winston spent most of her time in bed. The man, who usually appeared so gentle and refined, became fierce and intense once he shed his disguise, and his stamina was unbelievably good.
Normally, Chloe saw him just casually exercise for less than an hour a day, so how was his stamina so good? After all, he was an older guy over thirty; if a handsome face was not enough, his body was that strong too. After being trapped in bed for three or four days, she found it rather unbearable.
Such indulgent and decadent days were quite taxing on one’s mind.
Fortunately, the eighth day marked the end of the holiday, and everyone returned to the city, including the Wood brothers.
"Ah Chu, we brought back a lot of specialties from home. I’ll bring them to your place later. I’m staying at my brother’s house tonight, let’s hang out together." Desmond Wood texted her on WeChat early in the morning.
Chloe was still in bed, reached for her phone, opened Desmond’s voice message, and was about to reply when the phone was taken away by a large hand of the man beside her. Constantine Stewart rolled over, trapping her underneath, his voice hoarse and seductively saying, "Listening to a man’s voice message first thing in the morning? Baby, seems like I wasn’t diligent enough last night."
As he said that, he kissed her slightly swollen lips.
Chloe was kissed until her whole body went soft, completely forgetting to message Desmond. These days, the man was like a beast released from its cage; just kissing alone could last two hours. Chloe felt that her lips were definitely too swollen to be seen.
"Desmond said he brought some specialties and wants to come over," she murmured indistinctly.
"Hmm." Constantine responded with a sound, concentrating fully on kissing her, not caring about the Wood brothers coming over; people can wait when they arrive.
The two of them entwined until the afternoon. Chloe firmly got up, took a hot shower, put away her festive mood, and began returning to her normal life.
The Wood brothers arrived in the Imperial City in the afternoon, with bags of goods, and went to Spring Prosperity Garden for a short rest before heading to Chloe’s place with two bags of specialties.
Chloe was startled when she saw an old hen still jumping around in the bag.
"My great-aunt insisted I bring it. She said it was a free-range hen from the mountains, different from the store-bought ones, and makes the best soup," Desmond chuckled, "I also brought some wild mushrooms from the mountains, homemade smoked meat, and the fresh shrimp paste my mom made. They’re all unique local products, just for you to try."
Chloe accepted the items, expressed her gratitude as expected, and invited the two to stay for dinner.
After the New Year, the Wood brothers both gained a little weight. Desmond was still carefree and lively, pulling Chloe to play games, while Finnian watched Constantine descending from upstairs.
The man was dressed in casual home attire, exuding an elegant and leisurely demeanor, seeming to have been lounging around for days. Seeing the smile on his face, Finnian frowned slightly, observing that their interactions were natural and without the previous estrangement. His eyes dimmed, realizing Chloe’s choice.
"Mr. Wood, how was your holiday?" Constantine, who had been in an excellent mood these days, noticing Finnian’s somewhat existential look, kindly went to the kitchen to make two cups of tea for the Wood brothers.
"Not bad," Finnian replied nonchalantly, taking the tea handed to him, sipping it, and said blandly, "This hen from home needs to be cooked soon; I don’t think you’re suited for raising chickens here."
Constantine’s action of drinking tea paused. A live hen?
Finnian raised his eyebrows slightly, pointing to the hen still jumping in the bag with a smile, "In the old days, life was hard. Elders regarded old hens as more precious than gold, considering them excellent nourishment, so they asked me to bring one for Chloe to boost her health. If Mr. Stewart doesn’t know how to kill a chicken, I can do it."
Constantine’s smile became somewhat stiff. In his thirty-plus years, he had never killed a chicken in his life.
"I can handle it." Constantine smiled, no way he was going to let Finnian show off in front of Chloe. Killing a chicken? No problem.
Constantine put down the teacup, took the bag with the chicken to the kitchen, looked at the moving bag, face slightly unpleasant, and after washing his hands, he called the butler.
He didn’t want to kill the chicken, but he had servants, after all!
Half an hour later, the butler brought along servants and a chef. The chicken killing was underway, preparations for dinner commenced, and cleaning started in an orderly fashion.
Finnian: "..."
"Hey, Chu, you really got back together with him?" Desmond was pulling Chloe to play a game. After finally pushing all schedules and activities for the New Year, Desmond plunged headfirst into the gaming world, bringing a laptop everywhere. "Constantine acts like a typical capitalist. It’s just killing a chicken, and he needed a team of servants and a chef. Are you sure you want to be with this kind of rich boy?"
Desmond was still trying to dig around, loosening the ground for Constantine’s fence.
"Yeah, we got back together," Chloe admitted candidly, unwilling to tell him that all chores these days had been Constantine’s doing; he almost treated her like a baby, feeding and dressing her, a task he genuinely found enjoyment in, especially relishing in taking care of her, satisfying some strange affection of his.
Chloe pondered that there’s this nurturing system in games; probably, Constantine enjoyed this "nurturing loli" style enough was enough.
"What?" Desmond’s face fell as she so directly admitted it, how was he going to dig that fence anymore, one willing to fight, one willing to take it?
"Why is your character in jail?" Chloe logged into his account and found it serving time washing off notoriety in prison, speechless.
Desmond mumbled through the events, and Chloe immediately understood he had been scammed.
Illusion World was currently the hottest online game in the country. After the early exploratory phase, it welcomed a swarm of big spenders and operation experts. As a professional singer and part-time actor, Desmond could only squeeze time to play games, operating so poorly it was hard to watch. Yet, he liked to stir up trouble, constantly being bounty hunted and one-shot killed, mocked, and ridiculed wildly on the world chat.
That’s not all; he was also tricked into committing red crimes with a hidden account, ultimately ending up pitifully serving time in the game’s jail.
"Ah Chu, you gotta help me get revenge," Desmond said tearfully.
"Alright." Chloe quickly spent money on items to clear the character’s notoriety, getting out of jail.
Chloe had never used Illusion World’s bounty system before. When she used to play with Constantine, she hadn’t tried PK. She looked through Desmond’s list of enemies and issued Bounty Orders one by one, so the hero in white, with a Mystic Iron Sword, went on a killing spree.
