the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1622 - 1583: Discussing Marriage Arrangements

  • Next Chapter

Within one morning, A-Tan had gathered the chestnut burrs from the ground into sacks, while Marcus Quinn, along with the two agile hired women, managed to knock down all the chestnut burrs from the twenty trees, filling over a dozen sacks.

Due to the terrain of the mountainside here, cars couldn’t reach up, so the men carried the sacks one by one using a carrying pole down the hill.

As Marcus Quinn carried the sacks of chestnuts down the hill, the two strong women each carried a sack together, and seeing the men’s agility, they smiled at A-Tan and said, "Young lady, Marcus Quinn is hardworking, you’re fortunate."

"Yes, indeed. Marcus Quinn is a city dweller, and even the strongest men from our village can’t match your man in work." The women chuckled at A-Tan, smiling cheekily.

"When do you plan to hold the banquet, will it be in our village or somewhere else?"

Rural women tend to speak directly and love gossiping. Now that Marcus Quinn had returned to run the Holiday Village, with his height and looks being outstanding, strong and reliable, had he not brought back a girlfriend, these aunties would have long become matchmakers.

"You’ll have to ask Marcus Quinn about that," A-Tan replied with a smile, looking at the man’s broad back, her cheeks slightly flushed, her heart sweetened with joy.

"Marcus Quinn, when are you and A-Tan getting married and holding the banquet?" Sixth Aunt asked with a smile, seeing that A-Tan was shy.

Marcus Quinn had just loaded two sacks of chestnuts into the car parked at the foot of the mountain and saw A-Tan chatting and laughing with the two aunts as they descended the hill, and when the topic of marriage came up, he instantly picked up the rope and carrying pole, looking deeply at A-Tan, and said in a deep voice, "Soon."

After saying that, he swiftly took A-Tan’s hand and went back up the hill to continue picking chestnuts.

"Oh, he’s still shy." The two aunts laughed heartily.

"This young couple truly shares deep affection."

As A-Tan walked a considerable distance, she could still hear their laughter and let out a sigh.

"I’ll head to the city later this month, buy enough wedding jewelry, prepare the bride price, and then we’ll get engaged, alright?" Marcus Quinn’s large hand held A-Tan tightly, and although he was used to running ten kilometers without panting, this uphill journey left him a bit breathless, nervously looking at A-Tan.

"Alright, as you decide." A-Tan nodded like a pecking chick, a bit shy.

Marcus Quinn felt that he wasn’t sincere enough, pondered for a moment, and asked in a low voice, "A-Tan, are you accustomed to living in the village? Shall we buy a house in the city? Where do you want to live?"

"Didn’t you say your grandfather left you a courtyard house in the Imperial City? We already have a house, no need to buy another for now." A-Tan shook her head; they had just ten million altogether, and since they already had a house, there was no need to buy another. She was used to living anywhere, though she did miss her hometown Seacoast a bit.

The house her parents left her was something she must return to; they needed to become stronger.

Thinking this, A-Tan felt a slight sense of urgency.

Hearing this, Marcus Quinn’s gaze deepened; he decided to find time to go to the Imperial City and transfer the house to A-Tan’s name, showing his sincerity in marrying her. As for the formalities of meeting the family, Marcus ignored them directly.

When his mother gave birth to him, she died in childbirth. When he was two, his father remarried, leveraging his grandfather’s connections and influence in the Imperial City to marry a lady of high status. His grandfather, furious upon discovering this, scolded his father harshly and brought him back to the countryside to live, even changing his surname, severing all connections with the Imperial City side over the years.

After his grandfather passed away, his father brought him back to the family, but with the father having another son and daughter with his stepmother, he always felt like an outsider, so he entered military school early and spent years in the Military District, not returning home. Even when he returned to the Imperial City, he would stay in the courtyard house his grandfather left him, and later, the father-son relationship grew increasingly distant, like strangers.

Therefore, Marcus Quinn could decide on the marriage matters himself.

"I’ll transfer the courtyard house to you," the man said in a low, hoarse voice, "In a few days, I’ll go to the Imperial City, prepare the necessities for marriage, and where do you hope the wedding will be held? Will it be in the Imperial City or somewhere else? I don’t have many relatives, just Uncle Shui’s family and a few comrades. Do you need to notify some friends and relatives?"

A-Tan looked up at Marcus Quinn’s well-defined face; the man’s tall, slender figure stood beneath the chestnut trees, eyes lovingly gazing at her. In the distance were winding green hills and rugged mountain paths. A-Tan’s eyes slightly moist, reached out and grasped his forefinger, raspily saying, "Marcus Quinn, the wedding can wait. I still need to return to Seacoast for my parents’ house."
