the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1637 - 1590: Sunday Engagement
Yeats Howard felt like he was glowing with golden light under everyone’s gaze, and for the first time, he thought his reputation was quite significant. He laughed heartily and said, "Maybe it’s because of my little uncle’s influence. Little sister-in-law, try on the ring to see if the size is right, Miss, please bring over a men’s wedding ring."
"Sure, please wait a moment, you three."
Yeats Howard watched as the short-haired woman dashed away to get the men’s wedding ring, and he hooked Marcus Quinn’s shoulder, lowered his voice, and said, "Constantine Stewart has mines in Africa, collaborated with my little uncle, and he’s the number one sly businessman in Imperial City. It’s him who’s being slaughtered! After buying the ring, we’ll tailor clothes and other items here; everything here is coveted by the elite circles, yet there’s no stock. Everything for your wedding can be prepared here, and if you don’t have enough money, I’ll cover for you first."
"Wouldn’t that be inappropriate?" Aetan’s eyes sparkled with excitement; hearing that such a premium pink diamond cost only six million made her feel tempted. Should she buy it or not?
Marcus Quinn saw the vibrant sparkle in her eyes, her whole face lit up, sweet and charming like a juicy peach. He smiled and said in a low voice, "Let’s get this pink diamond then, and buy everything else here. You only marry once in a lifetime, and if you don’t spend now, you’ll regret it later."
Aetan was thrilled when she heard him say so much and was willing to spend so much on her. She nodded enthusiastically, saying, "Marcus Quinn, let’s work hard and earn more money when we go home."
"Hmm." Marcus Quinn responded softly, then reached out uncontrollably to gently touch her head, his gaze resting on her pink lips, wanting to kiss, but there was an annoyingly bright presence nearby.
"Ahem, ahem! Please spare a thought for the single folks, thank you." Yeats Howard shivered all over, seeing the two holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes, rolling his eyes as he spoke.
Choosing a men’s wedding ring was easy; Marcus Quinn opted for the simplest and understated design.
After finalizing the wedding rings, they went to look at the ready-to-wear clothes in the store. Aetan felt the fabric, which was indeed top-notch quality. The items here, though without logos and not famous, were all exquisite. According to the store’s sales assistant, the clothes were custom-made in France and air-shipped here. Aetan immediately ordered a suit for Marcus Quinn, and they both got custom-made cashmere coats.
Since Aetan didn’t have pierced ears and didn’t like wearing necklaces and such, she didn’t buy any of those. She only bought wedding shoes, a 30CM crocodile leather bag, totaling nearly seven million even with discounts. The custom items would take a month to be ready, Marcus Quinn left his address and phone number.
After leaving the store, Aetan’s face felt flushed. She quietly tugged Marcus Quinn’s arm and tiptoed to whisper in his ear, "Marcus Quinn, do you regret it? Marrying me seems pretty expensive."
Never regretting a lifetime. Marcus Quinn’s gaze moved slightly, affectionately reaching out to gently touch her soft hair, saying, "Let’s buy some sets of bedding and pillows, and replace the home’s mat with a latex one. Have you decided on the wedding venue?"
"At the Holiday Village, I think it’s great. We don’t live in Imperial City often, and everything is wonderful with mountains and waters over there. We can have the wedding at the Holiday Village, saving on venue fees, and just hire some chefs for a feast." Aetan said excitedly.
"Whatever you say. I’ll go back and further enhance the village’s environment." Marcus Quinn thought if the wedding were held at the Holiday Village, the whole village needed upgrading and beautifying.
"Are you really planning to hold the wedding in the countryside? Is there an airport there? It’s best to build a small airport, otherwise, traveling there is inconvenient." Howard spoke excitedly, as he pondered further, slapping his thigh. He hadn’t thought of it before, but in the countryside, with ample space, if he built a small airport, traveling would be convenient. They could take a private jet directly to the Holiday Village nearby.
Marcus Quinn and Aetan exchanged a look, airport? A large airport might not be possible, but Suton had one. If Green County really had an airport, then the Holiday Village would develop, solving transportation issues.
After buying the diamond ring, Aetan wasn’t too keen on other purchases. Women love things that sparkle, and especially pink diamonds!
Marcus Quinn planned to buy bedding, and Aetan followed behind him like a little tail. Just as the three left, a pair of young men and women entered the store.
"Elowen, what are you looking at? Let’s go in quickly, I heard the diamond rings in this shop are top-notch, but often out of stock," the young man said, tugging his female companion.
Elowen Duncan watched where Marcus Quinn disappeared, saw him driving the top-spec Hummer while carrying the store’s unique custom bag, bit her lip and said, "I think I saw my brother."
"Where? Sophie went to the island for a vacation, right?" The man looked around but saw no sign of Sophie Duncan.
"It’s my half-brother, he left Imperial City years ago. How can he drive a Hummer?" Elowen Duncan murmured, recalling how her father took Marcus Quinn in when he was underage, and her father’s handling of old man Quinn’s estate, everything was in her father’s hands. Could Marcus Quinn have hidden other property from the old man?
Elowen Duncan’s eyes flickered with a hint of brilliance, slinging the custom bag across her front as she entered the shop.
The shop’s sales assistant had just completed a big order and was delighted, seeing Miss Duncan of the Duncan Family who frequently visited, she promptly approached with a smile, "Miss Duncan, you’ve arrived. What do you plan to buy today?"
"Is there a diamond ring to go with the wedding dress accessories?" Elowen Duncan asked.
The two young ladies exchanged glances and laughed, "Sorry, Miss Duncan, the last pink diamond in our store was just bought by a gentleman, so we’re temporarily out of stock on diamond rings."
Although Elowen Duncan often came to buy things, she only bought inexpensive items like accessories and shoes. Her total spending hadn’t reached a million, which fell short of the invisible threshold for purchasing diamond rings. The store had two diamond rings left, one a 10-carat blue diamond and the other a 12-carat diamond, both priced at over fifty million. They’re usually kept in the safe and require the manager’s authorization to take out, so naturally, the two wouldn’t say they were in stock.
"Was it Mr. Quinn who just left? Is he also one of your members?" Elowen’s expression turned sour upon hearing there were no rings available. Marcus Quinn actually came to buy a pink diamond. Is he getting married? They didn’t know about this. She can’t afford a pink diamond, so Marcus must have struck it rich!
"Sorry, we can’t disclose client information. If Miss Duncan knows Mr. Quinn, you can discuss privately." The two sales associates, being shrewd, quickly apologized with a smile.
Elowen was filled with anger but couldn’t express it, as after all, this was Constantine Stewart’s territory. Everyone in the circle knows Mr. Stewart is the wealthiest in Imperial City, not only being a descendant of French aristocracy, having an Earl’s mother, but also backed by the Shaw Family.
When Vice Admiral Shaw got married, all expenses were covered by Constantine Stewart. It’s said Stewart sold a pure and dazzling red diamond to Vice Admiral Shaw at an extremely low price. Leah Squire wore that red diamond to a banquet once, and ever since, the exquisite diamond rings from Stewart became incredibly popular within the circle, but they’re basically unobtainable.
To think Marcus Quinn actually bought a diamond ring, a pink one at that? Where did he get the money? He was missing for quite a few years!
Elowen lost interest in shopping, casually bought a scarf, and rushed home to find her father.
A-ton followed Marcus Quinn to browse the home textile city, bought two sets of silk four-piece sets, two down comforters, a latex mattress, two latex pillows, and items like carpets and mats, all packed and shipped to Anfield Village.
When they came out, Yeats Howard was starving and kept shouting about taking them to eat.
The three went to eat hot pot. While waiting to order, A-ton looked at the shopping receipt, calculated today’s expenses: six million for the diamond ring, and collectively spent another million on miscellaneous items. Money really doesn’t last.
Time to go home and dig up potatoes for a living! A-ton decided on a money-saving plan.
Marcus Quinn ordered the dishes, while Yeats Howard called his mom to report their plans.
"Mom, we’ve bought almost everything, Marcus Quinn has money," Yeats Howard moved to the screen outside the private room, "Has Dad woken up? I want compensation for emotional distress."
"Compensation for emotional distress? Beware your dad might scold you again. If Marcus Quinn is short on cash, remember to swipe your card, and ask more about the girl’s side to see if both sets of parents should meet. The girl can’t possibly have no elders at all." Howard Family’s matriarch nagged.
"Alright, I got it. Young people’s weddings aren’t like your generation’s. Marcus Quinn says he’ll hold the wedding next year, don’t worry. I’ll hang up, I see an acquaintance." Yeats Howard said, briskly hung up the phone, waved to someone who had just come upstairs, and laughed, "Alan, out for a meal? With your boyfriend?"
Upstairs was Lana Shaw. This hot pot joint was a favorite hangout spot for their group, where they often bumped into each other.
Lana Shaw, relatively quiet in nature, upon noticing it was the Howard Family’s Demon King, gave a faint smile and said, "I’m out shopping with Calliope today. Are you with friends?"
"Yes, I’m with a recognized brother and a sister-in-law returning to Imperial City. They’re getting married, and I’m helping them prepare wedding items. Alan, your wedding is near too?" Yeats Howard grinned.
Just then, Calliope Shaw, who had parked her car, came upstairs. She had cut her hair short and styled it into loose curls at the beginning of the year, with a meticulously painted makeup. Upon seeing Yeats Howard, she was also slightly surprised and laughed, "Howard, you’ve got a godbrother? Who’s so lucky to be a godchild of the Howard Family?"
The Shaw Family has risen in status over the past two years due to Richard Shaw, and Lana and Calliope also climbed in status. Seeing Yeats Howard, they could easily joke and chat.
"How about we combine tables and eat together? I can introduce you to each other. Though my brother doesn’t stay much in Imperial City." Yeats Howard suggested with a smile.
"No need, Alan will be engaged in a few days, and it’s not too late to meet then." Calliope Shaw mentioned Lana’s engagement, with a shadow flashing across her brows.
"Yeah, this Sunday, bring your brother and sister-in-law to join the excitement." Lana Shaw said with a smile.
