the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1644 - 1594: She Wants Marcus Quinn’s Reputation Ruined in the Imperial City (Part 2)
Because of what Marcus Quinn had just said, A-Tan’s cheeks were burning. The hidden meaning in this man’s words was getting more and more blush-inducing. Then she heard Yeats Howard cracking a joke, and instantly burst out laughing. "Stop it, let’s hurry up and buy clothes. We can’t show up looking rude."
"Exactly, exactly, we’re short on time, got to rush and buy clothes, and we still need to find a stylist and makeup artist for our little sister-in-law." Yeats Howard bared his teeth as he spoke. Only when Marcus let go did he start rubbing his sore shoulder, then smiled fawningly. "Gentlemen, shall we?"
Yeats Howard took them to a high-end ready-to-wear gown shop that lots of society girls and celebrities loved to browse.
A-Tan’s figure was pretty textbook, and slim, plus she had great presence, so basically anything looked good on her. After trying on a few gowns, she slipped into a black-and-white color-blocked, affordable-luxury dress. The bodice was retro velvet with a straight-across off-shoulder neckline that showed off her swan-like neck and lovely collarbones. The skirt was a flowing tulle hem with intricately hand-beaded embellishments; the weight of the gems gave the dress a perfect drape, making her figure look even more curvy, chest down it was all legs. Under the lights, the whole dress sparkled.
"This is our latest style, it only arrived this morning. On this Miss, it’s simply stunning." The manager, an elegant lady pushing forty, saw A-Tan in the gown and her eyes lit up as she praised her.
Ever since A-Tan started trying on dresses, Marcus Quinn’s gaze had been glued to her. He thought every single one looked amazing on her, especially the one she had on now—she was as beautiful as a mermaid.
Yeats Howard, standing off to the side, was a bit dumbstruck too, then his whole face turned into one big "life is meaningless" expression. Why are all the pretty girls someone else’s?!
"Do I look good?" A-Tan carefully tottered on her heels, her eyes dewy as she asked Marcus.
"You look good." The man, unusually, gave a clear, straightforward compliment. "Boss, we’ll take this one."
"All right. With this gown, Miss, you’ll need to be careful when you sit, because all the stones on the skirt are hand-set diamonds. Would you like to look at some accessories? A necklace or bracelet?" Seeing that A-Tan wasn’t wearing any jewelry, the lady boss eagerly started upselling accessories.
A-Tan quickly shook her head, smiling sweetly. "No need, I have a wedding ring."
"Okay then." The lady boss squinted her eyes happily as she rang them up.
"I regret coming out with you two." An hour later, Yeats Howard’s face was blank as he voiced his anger and regret.
Marcus Quinn was a total devil!! After buying the gown he dragged A-Tan off to get her hair done, get styled, then kept on buying and buying, completely addicted to dressing up his little wifey. But why did he have to drag him along? It’s not even his wife.
Especially since the girl was already gorgeous—small face, big eyes. Just braiding her long hair any old way turned her into a fairy-like little beauty. Plus she was thin and petite; standing in front of Marcus, who was six-foot-three, she looked like a walking bundle of sweet loli cuteness.
Yeats Howard felt so abused he could cough up three liters of blood. Thinking of how he wouldn’t have a female companion tonight, and would probably get grilled about his personal life, he suddenly felt like the whole world was full of malice.
"All right, I’ll make Marcus buy you ice cream, Mr. Howard." A-Tan said with a sugary smile.
"You’re the one who wants ice cream." Yeats Howard snorted, hitting the nail on the head. How would she know he liked ice cream? But he absolutely would not admit it. If word got out that the mighty eldest young master of the Howard Family loved eating ice cream, those bastards in the circle could laugh for a whole year.
A-Tan giggled, her big watery eyes turning to Marcus Quinn, silently acting cute. She felt like she hadn’t had ice cream for more than a year.
"Okay." The man nodded, and without another word went to the counter to buy ice cream.
He bought two cones. Marcus didn’t like sweets, so he got blueberry for A-Tan and matcha for Yeats Howard.
After eating his ice cream, Yeats Howard felt like all his hackles had been smoothed down. Still scowling, he urged the two of them to hurry up and go buy a suit—they had to get to the engagement venue.
Buying Marcus’s suit was easy. Once they were in the shop, he tried on two and settled on a deep navy pinstripe, English-style suit. He was already tall and broad-shouldered, and unlike the current crop of delicate, polished "elite pretty boys," Marcus carried a wild, unrestrained edge while still being steady in temperament. Together it made for this mysteriously lethal, mature masculine vibe. Other people wore suits and looked refined; he put one on and just looked... sexy.
This damn masculine charm had nowhere to go.
A-Tan’s mouth went a bit dry as she watched, and then she quietly blushed.
Lana Shaw’s engagement banquet venue had been booked by the man’s side. It was the Garden Castle, one of the most famously luxurious spots in the Imperial City; tons of people held weddings and banquets there. But the Yarn Family was apparently so loaded they couldn’t spend money fast enough—just for an engagement banquet they practically wanted the whole Emperor City to know.
