Amber’s lips twitched. Looked like even if Fragrance Tower was wrested from the Duncan Family, they’d still have to spend a lot of time rectifying it. This was basically an unbeatable trash heap.

While Amber was checking, Yeats Howard finally showed up, leisurely late, pushing the door open with his hands full of stuff.

"Marcus, come give me a hand, my hands are about to break off," Yeats yelled.

Marcus Quinn stepped forward to take the things from his hands, raised a brow, and said, "You ever heard of leaving stuff in the car?"

"I wanted to show off my loot, okay?" Yeats chuckled, glanced at the waiter, and said, "We don’t need service here. If we do, we’ll call you."

After the waiter closed the door and left, Yeats finally sat down, excited, and said, "These are all from Mrs. Shaw for Amber—beauty and skincare Holy Items, food, drinks, daily-use stuff, everything. Anything Leah Squire sends is top-notch. Little sis-in-law, your face value is really something."

Amber took a look. There were indeed quite a few precious tonics, plus a whole set of pricey skincare products she’d never used before. The two things women find hardest to resist are becoming prettier and good food, so skincare, beauty products, nourishing tonics—those were basically Amber’s destiny.

Amber smiled sweetly and glanced at Marcus. Marcus saw her pretty little face basically screaming "I love this so much," and laughed. "If you like it, I’ll buy you the same set next time."

"Mm, okay~" Amber nodded, delighted.

Yeats, who’d been all ready to flex and fish for praise, was blindsided by a mouthful of sour couple-fluff and instantly had metaphorical black lines all over his face. Unhappy, he said, "Aren’t you going to thank me, the delivery guy?"

"Thank you, Young Master Howard. This must be the most expensive delivery guy in history," Amber laughed.

Yeats looked all proud—well, obviously.

After showing off his treasures, Yeats finally got to business. He lowered his voice and said, "Vice Admiral Shaw isn’t home, but Leah said the Shaw Family can only exert pressure in the Imperial City. If the Yarn Family goes back to Seacoast, she won’t wipe them out completely."

Yeats felt Leah was basically too lazy to bother making a move on the Yarn Family.

As long as the Yarn Family knew what was good for them and went back to where they came from, she’d be too lazy to care. After this mess, most of the Yarn Family’s future path was basically blocked off anyway.

"Don’t worry, Leah said once she puts pressure on them, the Yarn Family won’t last three days in the Imperial City before they’re forced to flee back to Seacoast. After that kind of damage to the bone, they won’t recover within a year and won’t have the strength to cause you trouble."

Marcus nodded when he heard that; that would be best. After all, he currently wanted to focus on developing his own career and becoming stronger. If he went head-to-head with the Yarn Family right now, he’d definitely have to borrow connections from the Howard Family and others. Marcus didn’t want to owe favors; his wife’s revenge, he’d take himself.

Very soon, the five dishes Amber ordered were served: Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, West Lake Vinegar Fish, Steamed Preserved Meats Combination, Fish-Fragrant Shredded Pork, and Sweet and Sour Pork.

Amber took a sip of the soup from Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, ate a piece of dried scallop, and then her little face collapsed. A dish that cost 1888 yuan, and it was way worse than what she’d had before.

Her palate had been spoiled by Marcus.

Marcus saw her stop after one bite, so he ladled himself a small bowl to taste, frowned, and said, "They used second-rate ingredients, the handling technique is off, and the heat control during simmering was poor. It’s a failed dish."

"Is it really that bad?" Yeats tried a bite and said, "I think it’s okay."

Amber and Marcus exchanged a look—so this foodie really wasn’t picky at all when he ate.

"But I do think there’s no way it can compare to yours. Ugh, this sweet and sour pork is sickeningly sweet. Even I can make it better than this," Yeats said, face falling.

"Then eat the West Lake Vinegar Fish, that one’s sour," Amber said, smiling.

The West Lake Vinegar Fish tasted decent, and the Steamed Preserved Meats Combination was pretty good too. So the chef’s performance was just a bit unstable. The three of them didn’t want to waste food, so each took a few bites and polished off most of it, then paid the bill and went home for a second round.

Because Yeats had been freeloading food and drinks at Marcus’s place for days without going home, he got dragged back by a phone call from the Howard Family’s old lady. That night Marcus didn’t dare make a big feast, so he cooked two bowls of sour soup noodles and made a dessert for Amber. After they finished eating, the two of them sat in the courtyard, looking at the Imperial City’s night view.

"No stars," Amber leaned back against Marcus’s chest. She was lightly dressed, but his body temperature was high, so she didn’t feel cold at all.

"We’ll see stars once we’re back at the Holiday Village. When we go back, we can start preparing New Year goods and get ready for the New Year," Marcus said in a low, deep voice, wrapping her up tightly, afraid the cold wind would hit her.

"Ah, I forgot to install floor heating. Won’t the guest rooms be cold in winter?" Amber suddenly thought of this.

Marcus let out a low laugh. He liked this feeling—liked watching Amber fuss over these mundane little things. It made him feel that their days were ordinary yet warm.
