After the battle, the smoke and dust filling the air gradually dispersed, leaving the ground scorched from the magical bombardment and slick with the monster’s viscous fluids.
Gu Su took a few steps forward and stood steadily before the massive monster’s corpse, his gaze slowly sweeping over its ferocious remains.
Broken fangs, shattered tentacles, congealed dark-green bodily fluids—every detail bespoke its ferocity. "Is it poisonous?" he asked in a low voice.
The Corpse Witch followed closely behind. The red light in its eyes flickered as it carefully examined the corpse, then it slowly shook its head. "It’s not poisonous," it stated, its tone flat but certain.
"My lord, if this thing were poisonous, it wouldn’t have needed to go to such lengths to hide underground and lure in its prey."
As a High Tier Undead specializing in poisons, the Corpse Witch could tell if a creature was poisonous with a single glance; no further investigation was necessary.
Gu Su gazed at the behemoth’s corpse before him and fell silent, his fingertips unconsciously tapping his palm.
He knew perfectly well that the Soul Summoning Technique was useless here.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t use it, but that it would be an incredible waste—like using fine jade as a common stone.
Just as the Corpse Witch had an innate, keen sense for toxins, Gu Su possessed his own unique expertise in Undead Summoning and material utilization.
The corpse before him—from its tough, durable skin and thick, full flesh to its iron-hard bones, and even the flexible tentacles it used for mimicry—was composed of exceptionally rare, high-quality materials.
To use Soul Summoning on it and turn it into a common Undead would be an outrageous waste, a true disservice to such fine materials.
After a moment of thought, Gu Su made his decision. Dragging the corpse back to the Graveyard Demon for proper processing was the safest and most profitable choice.
Having made his decision, Gu Su wasted no time. He raised a hand, gesturing for all the Skeletons to gather. "Go find some thick vines nearby," he ordered. "Tie this thing up securely, then work together to drag it back."
The Skeletons responded in unison and swiftly dispersed, searching the surrounding thickets and deadwood. They soon gathered a large bundle of tough, sturdy vines, strong enough to bear a heavy load.
Meanwhile, Gu Su turned to the White Crows accompanying them. He gave a slight wave of his hand. "You fly back ahead of us," he said concisely. "Notify the Walking Dead Warriors in the Graveyard Demon to come and provide support. The faster, the better."
’He knew full well that the monster was enormous and astonishingly heavy. The Skeletons, with their limited Power, wouldn’t be able to drag it far on their own.’
’Only the Walking Dead Warriors, with their immense Power and stamina, were suitable for the task. The Skeletons could only offer minor assistance at best.’
The White Crows beat their wings, soaring high into the air and flying swiftly toward the Graveyard Demon.
Gu Su directed the Skeletons to wrap the monster’s corpse tightly, coiling the vines layer by layer. They bound its tentacles and limbs securely to prevent anything from coming loose during the long drag.
Once everything was ready, all the Skeletons surged forward. They gripped the vines tightly, bent their backs, and pulled with all their might.
Even the Magic Skeletons, who normally focused on casting Magic and lacked physical strength, ran to the rear of the corpse. Placing their hands on its cold flesh, they pushed with all their might. It took a Herculean effort just to budge the behemoth a tiny distance.
The Skeletons didn’t mind, however. For the Undead, the concept of fatigue simply didn’t exist.
Once they received an order, they would carry it out indefinitely.
This time was no different. Though their progress was agonizingly slow, carving a deep trench in the earth, they pressed onward without any thought of stopping to rest.
Only the Corpse Witch, who did not consider itself a mere Skeleton, refrained from helping, simply following behind Gu Su.
Gu Su and his Skeletons had dragged the corpse about halfway when the Walking Dead Warriors finally arrived in a hurry. From a distance, they could already see the Skeletons struggling with their load.
Since they had come for heavy labor, the Walking Dead Warriors were not carrying their usual heavy Wooden Shields and Heavy Warhammers.
As soon as they were in position, the Walking Dead Warriors relieved the Skeletons pulling at the front. They wrapped the vines tightly around their own bodies and heaved in unison.
With a series of low grunts, the dozen or so Walking Dead Warriors managed to heave the massive corpse forward, moving at a steady pace.
At that moment, Gu Su couldn’t help but marvel. ’The Power of the Walking Dead is truly far beyond that of the Skeletons.’
Before, even with all his Skeletons pulling and the Magic Skeletons pushing from behind, they had only managed to move the monster in fits and starts, covering very little ground.
And now, just a dozen or so Walking Dead Warriors were dragging the monster forward with ease.
Although their pace was still miserably slow, each step was incredibly steady. They seemed completely unaffected by the monster’s size and weight, maintaining a constant speed even as their feet sank deep into the soft earth with every step.
After a slow but steady haul of about twenty minutes, the massive monster’s corpse was finally dragged to the gates of the Graveyard Demon.
Before they could even pull the corpse through the gates, the Deceitful Tree inside the Graveyard Demon suddenly became agitated. Its branches thrashed wildly, its leaves rustling in a frenzy.
Countless tiny Large-leaf Lily Seeds rained down from the Deceitful Tree’s branches. Like a blizzard of Paper Money, they filled the air, drifting toward the monster’s corpse and scattering with every gust of wind. The scene was as spectacular as it was bizarre, suffused with an indescribable strangeness.
Gu Su’s brow furrowed slightly, a flicker of doubt in his mind.
Something was clearly wrong. Yet, after focusing his Perception for a long while, he couldn’t pinpoint the abnormality. He detected no aura of danger, nor did he sense any disturbance in the flow of energy.
After a moment of fruitless thought, Gu Su stopped dwelling on it. He shook his head and ordered the Walking Dead Warriors, "Keep going. Drag it into the graveyard."
The Walking Dead Warriors grunted in response and heaved, slowly dragging the monster’s corpse into the Graveyard Demon.
The very moment the corpse fully entered the graveyard’s grounds, something bizarre happened.
Like a stick of butter tossed into a searing-hot pan, the behemoth’s corpse began to melt at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Its thick flesh dissolved into a murky, black sludge that seeped rapidly into the cracks in the ground, where it was greedily absorbed by the very earth of the Graveyard Demon.
The ground then began to churn, as if stirred by countless invisible tentacles from below. They pulled down the monster’s hard bones, its smooth scales, and the remnants of its camouflaging tentacles, swallowing everything in one go. Not a single fragment remained, as if the massive corpse had never existed in the first place.
