News that the Kobold Leader had been killed in battle seemed to grow wings, delivered to Gu Su in the first instance by the White Crows under Crow’s Caw’s command.

Listening to the detailed report Crow’s Caw sent via the White Crows, Gu Su lightly tapped his fingertips on the table. His gaze was heavy as he spoke decisively, without a shred of hesitation.

"Have Bone Forest and the others clean up the battlefield immediately. Prioritize sending all the corpses back. The other supplies in the lair can wait; we’ll have plenty of time to sort through them later."

Gu Su’s judgment was direct and precise.

To an Undead Mage, the most precious things on a battlefield were never the captured supplies, but the endless supply of corpses.

After all, for an Undead Mage, corpses were the most fundamental Resource, the very foundation for Summoning the Undead and expanding their combat power.

With enough corpses, one could summon a sufficient number of Undead.

Once the scale of the Undead Team grew, everything—from gathering supplies and developing territory to dealing with unknown dangers—would become twice as effective and significantly easier.

Gu Su couldn’t help but recall his predicament a few days ago.

Back then, he had no more than a dozen or so Undead under his command. Their combat strength was meager, and even emptying out a small, abandoned shopping mall took a day or two. The inefficiency was maddening.

Such a sluggish pace was utterly unbearable for the current Gu Su, who was desperate to expand his power and establish a foothold.

What he lacked most right now were time and combat power, and corpses were the key to solving all of it.

That was why, upon hearing the battle was over, Gu Su’s first reaction wasn’t to ask about the gains or the loot. Instead, his first order was for Bone Forest and his team to prioritize sending the corpses back.

In his view, as long as new Undead were summoned and his ranks were replenished, he could have his Undead Team strip clean not just a small Kobold lair, but even the city’s labyrinthine sewer system that stretched for dozens of kilometers, leaving nothing behind.

Upon receiving Gu Su’s command, Bone Forest, who was organizing the battlefield, immediately sprang into action. He quickly coordinated the Undead Squads under his command and methodically arranged for them to clean up the area.

One group of Skeletons was tasked with clearing away scattered debris and sealing the entrance to the Kobold lair, while another group focused on collecting the corpses from the battlefield, sorting them into piles to await transport.

Before long, Suburban Wolf arrived with his squad, delivering the first batch of corpses.

This was a high-quality batch of corpses.

It consisted mainly of the Kobold Leader’s corpse, along with the bodies of his elite Personal Guard.

In addition, there were the bodies of the Kobold Warriors who had charged forward as bait, each corpse still bearing the marks of battle—some were covered in frost, others stained with black poison.

As for the rest, they were mostly common Kobolds who had been killed by the Magic Skeletons’ Poison Gas Bombs deep within the lair. Though numerous, their combat strength was unremarkable, making them suitable only as basic material for summoning Low Tier Undead.

But amid this messy pile of bodies, one corpse stood out. It clearly wasn’t a Kobold, and it instantly captured Gu Su’s attention.

’A human-like clown?’

Gu Su’s heart skipped a beat, a flicker of disbelief in his eyes.

This was the first time he had seen a possibly human figure since he’d crossed over into this world.

Even though it was just a cold, lifeless corpse before him, the sight still exceeded his expectations, causing him to stop what he was doing and hurry over.

He crouched down and carefully examined the strange corpse, his fingertips gently brushing over its cold clothing.

A moment later, he slowly straightened up and let out a long sigh. The hope in his eyes faded, replaced by unconcealable disappointment.

Just moments ago, Gu Su had been overjoyed, thinking he had finally found a trace of humanity and perhaps a clue to finding his own kind. He never would have imagined it would end in disappointment.

The seemingly human clown before him was merely human-shaped. In essence, it was some kind of bizarre creature, not a real human at all.

It had a strange, receding hairline of red hair—the top of its head was bald, with only a few messy tufts of red remaining on the sides.

Its entire face was painted a deathly white, covered in exaggerated and bizarre clown makeup. Its scarlet lips were parted in a grin as if mocking everything in existence, yet its eyes held no trace of life.

It wore a tattered medieval courtier’s outfit. The fabric was mottled and stained with dark red blotches, but beneath the suit, there was no flesh and blood—only stark white bones. The clearly visible Bone Joints were exposed, creating a particularly gruesome sight.

What was even stranger was that where its internal organs should have been, there was nothing. Instead, Red Balloons of various shapes had been stuffed inside. The balloons’ surfaces were faintly stained with blood, forming a jarring contrast with its deathly white skeleton.

Watching this bizarre scene, Gu Su’s brow furrowed as a suspicion formed in his mind.

He suspected that this clown corpse might be the root cause of why the Kobolds had become so strange and violent.

"Where did you find this thing?" Gu Su withdrew his gaze and turned to Suburban Wolf, who was standing respectfully to the side. His tone was calm, but his eyes held a hint of inquiry.

Suburban Wolf immediately took a step forward, bowed slightly, and quickly explained, "Master, we found it in the deepest part of the Kobold lair."

"When we charged into the depths of the lair to clear it out, it was hanging upside down from the cave wall, its hands bound by some unknown black chains. There was a worn-out pottery basin placed beneath it, which, by the looks of it, was there to collect its dripping blood."

After a pause, Suburban Wolf added, "We checked carefully. The red paint on the Kobolds’ faces, as well as the Red Balloons they wore on their backs for flight—the material used for all of it was this clown corpse’s blood."

Listening to Suburban Wolf’s explanation, Gu Su’s confusion deepened. He felt more and more certain that there was something unusual about this clown corpse.

Its blood could be used by the Kobolds to make paint and balloons, and it could also affect the entire Kobold population. This was clearly no ordinary bizarre creature; it must be hiding some unknown secret.

He fell silent for a moment, thinking it over seriously. His gaze fell upon the unused Level 3 Empty Tomb not far away, and he made up his mind. He raised his hand, pointed at the Empty Tomb, and said to Suburban Wolf, "Take it to that Level 3 Empty Tomb."

But just as Suburban Wolf acknowledged the order and dragged the clown corpse into the range of the Level 3 Empty Tomb, something strange happened.

The once stiff and cold clown corpse actually began to slowly melt, transforming into wisps of black mist that seeped into the graveyard grounds. In an instant, it vanished completely, as if it had never been there at all.
