The Unlimited Ascension: Reborn as an Extra
Chapter 176: The Duel [Part-2]
Azrael looked down at the blade and then looked back up at Alen. For a few seconds, he wasn’t able to tell what exactly had just happened.
It was the first duel in his life that he had lost to someone his age. Even though he was lazy, he never skipped his training, making sure he wouldn’t fall too far behind the others. Whenever he fought with someone, he always won the match because he could already predict their moves and knew he could win against them.
But suddenly getting defeated by this wanderer? Azrael couldn’t help but grin. He didn’t actually feel sad about the defeat; in contrast, he felt a thrilling excitement that finally, someone had defeated him. It proved that he wasn’t unbeatable.
’Haha... It seems this duel was worth more than I could think of. Well, I have to prepare myself for mental attacks so that I won’t get affected by them like I just did...’
Alen pulled back his spear as he looked at Azrael’s crazed grin.
’Is he an idiot? Smiling after losing? It seems he doesn’t want to admit the loss, is that it?...’
From the edge of the field, Leviya pushed off the bench. She stepped toward the field, walking right up to them. She looked at Alen with intent in her eyes as she spoke.
"I also want to have a duel with you."
Alen looked at her calmly and answered.
"Sorry, miss. I was told to teach him some sense. I didn’t come here to play aro—"
He immediately tilted his head backward as a flaming arrow shot just an inch away from his ear with extremely fast speed. Even the breeze of the air wasn’t able to signal the arrow’s approach.
If Alen hadn’t have a high sense of sound to hear the friction of the attack, it would have directly hit his handsome face and burned his skin.
"Oh, calm down a little. Are you going to kill the poor guy who just got tired after a fight?"
She ignored his logic and stepped forward. More of such arrows made of pure fire manifested in the air, appearing just by the simple raise of her finger.
"Stop spouting nonsense. You were holding back against him to the extreme. If you had just used ten percent of what you could actually do, you could have finished the fight long ago. I can read that fact even without seeing into your mind..."
Alen’s lips curved slightly as a thick barrier of water appeared in front of him, causing the shot arrows to dissolve their forms into hissing steam.
"Is that so..."
Azrael looked at both of them. He felt annoyed that both of them were indirectly insulting him, acting like he was just a weak insect on the field who should have long been dead.
But he didn’t feel disappointed. He could already sense that the guy in front of him was not just a regular Awakener, but an actual Walker. He already expected him to be on a whole other level than him.
But Azrael was sure that he could become that strong down the long road of his journey, so he wasn’t worried about his current strength in the least.
"Just as I said, I am not interested in fighting. Besides, I don’t want to fight a girl weaker than me. It goes against my morals..."
Leviya frowned slightly, clearly annoyed by being called weak. In all her life, nobody had ever used that term ’Weak’ to describe her. It was the first time someone dared to look down upon her abilities.
A large amount of fire started to ignite from her body, burning as hot as lava while the temperature in the surrounding area rose exponentially.
Alen felt tense. Damn, she was not listening to reason. He didn’t want to accidentally hurt her. If it was a fight with someone like Lyris, he wouldn’t have been worried; even if he went with his full strength, there was a tiny chance of him actually hurting her, since Lyris had an uncountable amount of hidden skills to fight against his attacks. But he wasn’t sure about Leviya’s limits.
"Hey, black-haired guy. Handle your girlfriend."
Azrael looked at him and simply shrugged his shoulders.
"She isn’t my girlfriend. And besides, she isn’t the type to listen to me. You can try it yourself..."
"W-what?"
Hundreds of arrows suddenly formed around her. They shot toward him with blazing speed from different directions.
Alen looked at the incoming arrows and narrowed his eyes. He noticed that the arrows were actively changing their directions mid-flight to confuse him. Even though she was acting out of rage, it seemed she had complete control over her skills.
He sighed and decided to respect her will to fight. He used fire magic to cover his whole spear. He lightly spun the weapon in a rapid motion, moving with extreme speed as he cut through the incoming arrows and headed straight toward her position.
Leviya immediately summoned more arrows as a giant ball of fire started to form right above her palm.
But before she could do anything with it, she suddenly felt a presence behind her back. The sound of someone appearing made her shoot some of the arrows backward unconsciously through pure instinct.
But the gap in her defense was already made.
[Water Magic: Water Ball!]
Suddenly, a sphere made of water directly shot toward her with extreme speed, which she wasn’t able to dodge in time.
*SPLASH!*
But instead of actually hurting her, all of the burning fire around her was instantly dissolved by the water. She was drenched wet. Water fell from her body, and she wiped her eyes just to see the droplets of water falling from her red hair.
"You—!"
"Okay, I win. Hehe...."
She couldn’t help but look at him with freezing cold eyes, looking as if she was ready to murder him. But she calmed down immediately, even as the water droplets kept falling from her clothes.
*Pfft~*
Suddenly, Leviya heard someone’s amusement, sounding exactly like they were holding back their laughter. She shot her cold eyes straight toward Azrael, who casually turned his face away, pretending he hadn’t made a sound.
She stomped her feet, ignored both of them, and started to walk away from the training ground in a huff.
"I will one day burn you for sure."
She muttered the threat lightly as she left the area.
Both Azrael and Alen stood there and looked at each other. Neither of them was able to understand how girls actually think.
