Chapter 19: A Day Off with Unexpected Company
The room was silent and dark, with no sound except for the snoring of a blue-haired boy named Philip.
On the wooden floor, someone was sleeping under a blanket he had unknowingly pulled over himself. The boy had blond hair, and it was Magnus, who had spent the night in this room because of what had happened the previous day.
Meanwhile, another person was shivering from the cold, having been left without a blanket after Magnus had taken it. His body trembled slightly, yet he remained completely unaware that he was freezing.
A system notification suddenly appeared right in front of the sleeping Haruki.
[ELIMINATE HIM]
[BEFORE ANOTHER DISASTER ARRIVES]
Haruki, who was sleeping soundly, did not notice the notification. After several minutes, it disappeared as if nothing had ever happened.
The morning sunlight streamed through the gaps in the window, shining directly onto Haruki’s face. He stirred and turned over, facing the wall to avoid the bright sunlight.
Slowly, he opened his sleepy eyes and looked around. His gaze eventually fell upon Magnus, who was sleeping on the wooden floor with the blanket he had stolen from Haruki.
Haruki did not pay much attention to his missing blanket. He slowly climbed out of bed, placing his feet on the wooden floor before standing up and taking a deep breath. He then made his way toward the door.
Stepping past the sleeping Magnus, he grasped the doorknob, which felt cold from the lingering chill of the night.
He gently pulled the door open. The corridor remained quiet, as it was Sunday and everyone was still fast asleep, exhausted from the events of the previous day.
"Great. I’ll clean myself up first."
Haruki took advantage of the peaceful morning to freshen up. He walked slowly toward the bathroom, where the sound of dripping water could be heard from the far end.
After finishing his morning routine, he headed to the cafeteria for breakfast.
Upon arriving, he spotted someone who looked familiar from behind.
Haruki narrowed his eyes and realized that it was Vila, who was already having breakfast.
He then picked up his breakfast from the counter at the corner of the cafeteria before approaching Vila’s table.
"Morning, Vila."
"Ah, Haruki... Good morning to you too."
Haruki slowly sat down across from Vila and began his breakfast with a bite of bread before taking a noisy sip of soup.
"Did anything happen, Haruki?"
Haruki stopped sipping his soup and placed the bowl on the table.
"It’s about what happened in our dormitory yesterday."
"What happened?"
Haruki began recounting the events of the previous day, explaining what had happened to Philip and Magnus, as well as what he himself had gone through.
Vila chuckled softly, covering her mouth with her right hand.
"So, how are they doing now?"
"Their condition—"
"We’re doing just fine."
Haruki turned to his left and saw Magnus, while Philip stood behind him. Both boys were still wearing their pajamas, their faces bearing the sleepy expressions of people who had only just woken up.
"Good morning, Haruki and Vila."
Vila softly returned Magnus’s greeting.
The two boys then went to get their own breakfast before joining Haruki and Vila at the same table.
"Ah, thank goodness the other students haven’t woken up yet," Magnus remarked.
The two of them took their first bites of bread without saying another word, simply enjoying their breakfast.
"Hey, you two. It’s our day off, so don’t you want to go out somewhere?"
Magnus raised an eyebrow and quickly swallowed the bread he was eating before answering Haruki’s question.
"Where exactly are we supposed to go?"
"Anywhere is fine. The important thing is that we go out."
Philip, who had been chewing on his bread, suddenly stopped and joined their conversation.
"I’m too lazy for that... I’d rather sleep on my day off."
"Huh?~ Do you really want the other dormitory students to come after you again?" Haruki asked, directing the question at Philip.
Philip suddenly choked on his bread, and his face turned pale.
"L-Let’s go out, then..."
The three of them chuckled at Philip’s sudden change of expression.
After their brief conversation, they quickly finished their breakfast so they could head out without causing any more trouble with the other dormitory students.
"Let’s meet outside the school, Vila," Haruki said.
The three boys then made their way back to their rooms, careful not to be seen by the other male students.
Vila, meanwhile, turned around and began walking toward the girls’ dormitory, placing a hand over the center of her chest.
"Going out together... with Haruki..."
She continued walking toward her dormitory, intending to borrow a change of clothes and put on something more presentable from the clothes Lukas had given her earlier.
---
Back in Haruki and Philip’s room, the two boys began preparing to go out, choosing clothes that made them look a little more stylish.
Haruki noticed that Philip was completely absorbed in searching for an outfit. Taking the opportunity, he opened his system and purchased some new clothes.
"There. That suits me perfectly."
"What exactly suits you?"
Philip turned toward Haruki, only to be startled when he saw that Haruki was already wearing a different outfit.
"S-Since when did you c-change your clothes?!"
"An idiot like you wouldn’t understand."
Haruki’s words struck Philip right in the heart, leaving him frustrated. Determined not to lose to Haruki, Philip resumed searching for a better outfit.
---
Meanwhile, Magnus had already finished dressing and was wearing a neat outfit.
As soon as he opened his door and stepped outside, the other students, who had already woken up, spotted him.
The moment they saw Magnus, they immediately called out to the others, gathering their fellow students to beat him up.
Magnus quickly rushed into Haruki and Philip’s room and locked the door behind him. He leaned against it, taking a deep breath before rapidly exhaling in relief.
Haruki and Philip stared at him with blank expressions.
"Is it happening again?" Haruki asked.
Magnus simply nodded before sitting down on Haruki’s bed.
Meanwhile, Philip was still searching for a decent outfit to wear.
Magnus glanced at Philip and immediately understood what he was doing. A mischievous grin spread across his face as he began to tease him.
"Philip, just wear whatever you want. Aren’t all your clothes ugly anyway?"
"Huh? What did you just say, Magnus?"
Haruki began to feel uneasy after hearing Magnus’s remark toward Philip.
"Ah, here they go again..."
Magnus repeated his earlier words, deliberately provoking Philip’s anger.
"That’s enough, you two. Hurry up... Vila might already be waiting for us outside."
