The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss

Chapter 311: Nemur’s Gaze [3]

So to remain discreet in her actions, she had to stay subtle while using her strength, but that limited the actual power that she had at her disposal.

And against a Sovereign, such a handicap meant losing the fight before it had even begun.

Despite being taken by surprise at first, Diana had now managed to cover all her tracks and any openings that Nemur could have mistakenly exploited to know about her presence in the body of the Veltran princess.

Kael still had her face locked in his hands, as he observed her up close without saying another word.

His eyes... they now had hints of worry for her, but Diana wasn’t someone to be fooled by a kid.

She could tell that this was just another attempt by the Frost to be able to manipulate this body for his own goals, and honestly she had to commend his efforts.

The kid knew the perfect timing to deliver the words that would have the most emotional impact on her.

But sadly for him... she had played such games long ago.

"It might be due to my lack of sleep. Maybe I hadn’t taken a good rest in a long time."

Saying what felt like a natural reason to her, Diana was satisfied with her response.

Though she was now restricted by Nemur’s gaze, it wasn’t like the bastard would be able to maintain it for long.

Their class would soon be leaving for the visit to the Levaith Duchy, and Diana knew that Nemur wouldn’t be rude enough to bypass the authority of the Veltran Sovereigns to gaze into a territory owned and controlled by their empire.

That was the perfect time for Diana to interrogate Kael, and learn about the events that must have made Kael a target for Nemur.

"But you looked quite healthy earlier."

Removing his hands from her cheeks, Kael stepped back before looking around the room.

"A good sleep will help me recover, so don’t worry about it."

Letting her lips stretch into a small smile, Diana reassured Kael.

"Is there a reason for your sudden visit?"

Not wanting Nemur’s gaze to stay in her vicinity any longer... Diana quickly got to the topic that could end her talk with Kael.

After all, he must have had a reason to visit her just after they had come back from the market—

"Hm? I just had the thought of seeing you. There was no reason in particular."

"..."

Diana had to use the entirety of her will to make sure that she didn’t end up doing something that could ruin her relation with the kid.

"I hope I didn’t disturb you?"

Kael asked the question in the most innocent voice that someone could muster up in the given situation.

"No... actually I am glad that you came to visit me, despite your... busy schedule."

Diana uttered the words in a polite voice, though there were hints of a forced reply in her tone.

Though Kael, on his part, didn’t seem to notice anything wrong with her words as he simply nodded his head.

"That’s good then. Be sure to attend the lectures tomorrow."

Saying the words, Kael turned back before slowly retreating from her room.

Click.

Even after the door was closed, Diana didn’t let her guard down, as she kept doing her best to hide her presence from Nemur’s gaze that still seemed to follow Kael.

That only made her more curious about what the kid had done to get such... special attention from someone like Nemur Daithra.

Only after a few minutes had passed did Diana allow herself to relax.

Turning behind, she walked a few steps before laying down on her bed.

Though Nemur’s gaze had momentarily destabilized her state of mind... Diana couldn’t help but recall the memories of the old times.

The peace that this current world was getting bored of was a luxury of the highest order in her era.

Those times were filled with endless wars and the desperation to establish themselves as the supreme authority in Jutan.

Had ’He’ not been absorbed by the world’s core... the same wars would have destroyed this planet a long time ago.

Still, ’He’ wasn’t dead, and Diana was sure of it.

In fact, it wasn’t actually a secret, as everyone knew about it.

That was why Diana had to prepare herself thoroughly, as ’He’ was one of the greatest Gods the world had ever witnessed.

No.

That could be considered an understatement.

If considered on an individual basis, ’He’ could very well be the most lethal being in the history of Jutan.

That was why ’He’ was the first one to break the ceiling of power that had restrained them for so long, and he could very well—

Diana had no time to be distracted, as the matters in the present were of far more importance than what the past had faced.

She had to do something about Nemur, and for that, confronting Kael was inevitable.

The only question that bugged Diana’s mind was whether she should be subtle in her approach or directly threaten the Frost to reveal all the information.

Each choice had its own consequences, and Diana didn’t want to mess up only because she took the wrong decision.

Though, thinking carefully, directly revealing her identity would backfire, as from all the information that she had learned about the person named Kael Frost... the kid wasn’t someone who could be intimidated.

Her threats could very well result in him taking the path of mutual destruction, something which Diana found amusing given that the kid was merely a Silver 3.

Yet it was better to be cautious around a Frost who could even attract Nemur’s attention.

"Disgusting."

The word was the exact description of how she felt at the moment.

As if there could be any humiliation greater than having to be cautious around a kid, and hiding from the eyes of someone she could very well fight on her own.

Still, she couldn’t let her pride dictate her actions.

The privilege had long been lost to her.

At present, the only thing she could do was to stay resilient and climb the steps with consistency.

Someday or the other... she would be sure to make herself known to the world once again, and her return—

It would surely be a memorable one.
