The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter

Chapter 191: Draven’s First Wife

Chapter 191: Draven’s First Wife

Aria nodded as she took another huge bite of her sandwich.

Meanwhile, Adrian’s thoughts began drifting.

His current mana vein rank was simply not strong enough for him to safely push his magic into the fourth circle. The rank of one’s mana veins put a huge restriction on how far they could go as a mage and Adrian currently had D rank ones.

D rank mana veins only allowed one to get to the third circle. There was no record of anyone being able to get past this stage with D rank mana veins.

’Even though I have been using mana crystals at a steady pace,’ Adrian thought miserably. ’It’s not really helping much.’

He had actually tried it before. He tried using a massive influx of mana from mana crystals to forcefully jump straight up to the fourth circle. But it was almost like his mana veins could not contain that much mana.

The pain was way over what he could handle, and a lot of mana leaked out of his body since he couldn’t contain it. Even though the hybrid training method theoretically worked, his low-rank veins were the bottleneck holding him back.

The only way he could actually progress right now was to upgrade his mana veins to at least a C rank. And he felt like as long as he successfully upgraded them, he could jump right up to the fourth circle incredibly fast.

Just as he was thinking about his bottleneck, Aria spoke up.

"Papa." Aria said. "I want to use magic while fighting. Like like you do."

Adrian stopped chewing and looked at her in surprise. "What do you mean?"

"I want to fight like a knight." Aria explained, her dark eyes completely serious. "But I want to do it while using magic. I want to fight the way you fight using your telekinesis and your rings, papa. But I want to make my own special fighting method like papa..."

Adrian raised an eyebrow.

"Well, I got that telekinesis idea completely randomly." Adrian admitted. "Do you have any specific plans for doing the same thing? Like a specific spell you want to base your fighting style around?"

Aria just stared down at her sandwich. "I don’t really have any ideas right now."

"We can just take our time." Adrian smiled at her. "You are still pretty young, so there is zero rush. We can test out a few different spells later and see what clicks for you."

But the second he finished talking, a violent tremor made the whole floor shake. The dust on the ceiling fell down on them.

Adrian jumped to his feet instantly. Aria snapped her head up to look at him with wide eyes.

"We need to get outside and see what the hell is happening." Adrian said seriously.

He took a massive bite of his sandwich and just carried the rest of the sandwich with him. Aria stood up and followed right behind him.

Once they reached the ground floor, Adrian immediately realized the situation was bad. There was no one inside the mansion. The servants and the guards were completely gone.

So he ran straight out into the courtyard.

He saw Marquis Draven standing near the center of the yard, aggressively shouting orders to his rushing commanders.

Adrian ran straight toward him. He chewed quickly and swallowed all of the food that was still sitting in his mouth.

"What is happening?" Adrian asked.

"The monsters attacked us suddenly." Draven growled, his face completely pale. "And they broke the defensive wall."

Adrian froze.

"Based on what the soldiers have told me," Draven explained quickly. "A massive, magic spell came out of the forest and hit the stone wall directly. The wall is broken now, and the monsters are already rushing out of the forest. And based on their direction, it looks like they’re going to converge at the place where the wall is broken.

Draven grabbed the hilt of his broadsword.

"We do not really have any time." Draven said grimly. "We only have two options. We either stand our ground and fight them here, or we pack up and abandon the territory completely."

"How many monsters are actually out there?" Adrian asked.

And that was when a soldier sprinted over to them.

"My lord!" the soldier exclaimed in panic. "We cannot really tell exactly how many monsters there are! They just keep pouring out of the forest like a flood!"

"What is the approximate estimation?!" Draven asked.

The soldier swallowed hard. "Based on the sheer volume of beasts that have come out until now... I would say at least five hundred thousand!"

Draven sucked in a sharp breath.

He just stared at the terrified soldier in total silence.

Two seconds passed. Three seconds passed.

Draven immediately snapped his head to look at one of his wives standing nearby.

"Get the citizens to evacuate immediately!" Draven roared. "Every single civilian needs to get out of the city right now!"

He turned back to Adrian. "We need to do something to slow them down right now."

"We need to stop these monsters here." Adrian agreed. "We have to defend the wall. If we do not buy them time, the civilians are going to get butchered during the evacuation."

Adrian stared down at his half eaten sandwich for a second before looking up at the Marquis.

"We have to send every single capable fighter to defend that hole right now." Adrian stated. "We do not have any other choice. Your regular soldiers... get them to stand at the top of the unbroken sections of the wall. Get them to shoot down at the monsters that are still charging towards us. Our previous strategy isn’t going to change."

Adrian pointed toward the breached section of the wall.

"I will go out there with my soldiers. You said that some of them have successfully evolved into F rank knights, right?"

"Yes." Draven nodded.

"Good." Adrian said. "So I will be going out with them. I will personally defend the wall and-"

Before Adrian could finish talking, Draven’s first wife stepped forward.

"I will join you."
