Chapter 194: The Lawn Mower
Chapter 194: The Lawn Mower
Adrian pushed even deeper into the dense monster horde.
His steel chakrams spun around him really fast as they cut up almost every single beast that stepped into his range. He basically carved a path filled entirely with blood and severed limbs wherever he walked.
And while Claire stayed behind to support the regular soldiers and hold the defensive line where the hole was made on the wall, two other fighters jumped right into the chaos. They followed behind Adrian, and achieved similar results but with their own methods.
The first one was Draven.
The Marquis swung his huge war axe around in massive, sweeping arcs. Every single swing cut deeply into the monsters as he hacked through the monsters’ bodies without feeling much resistance.
Even though his overall kill efficiency was not as high as Adrian’s spinning chakram monster meat grinder, not a single monster managed to touch him.
Draven was someone who adapted very quickly. Whenever he could not kill a beast fast enough, or whenever something tried to attack his blind spot from behind, he didn’t force himself to halt his momentum. If he was caught in an awkward position where he could not swing his heavy axe in time, he just popped his mana shield.
The thick mana shield stopped the monsters dead in their tracks.
And due to this method of defense, Draven easily kept up the momentum of his heavy swings. This specific combat method actually helped him conserve a lot of his energy.
He did expend quite a bit of internal mana whenever a monster got too close and forced him to block. But it was still a totally manageable amount. And since the weak monsters were not able to deal huge damage to his shield, his mana reserves did not deplete fast at all.
Just like that, he left his own path filled with bodies and blood.
But this path was slightly narrower than Adrian’s. And just like Adrian’s path, the charging monsters would just run right on top of the dead bodies. So the so called "path" would just close up anyway. It was the same for both of them.
The third person who fearlessly jumped deep into the monster horde was Draven’s first wife, Sigrid.
As an A rank knight, her physical attributes were on a completely different level compared to Draven and Adrian.
At first, it looked like she was going to stay back near the wall. She stood ready to hold the line while Adrian and Draven pushed out. But after the two of them almost reached the hundred meter mark, Sigrid finally moved.
She just dashed forward.
She took one single, incredibly powerful step. It was not even really a step. It was much more like an explosive leap. She put so much force into the ground below her that she just flew forward.
Without jumping too high up into the air, she used that one single kick against the ground to instantly cover tens of meters of distance.
And on the way through the air, she cut through every single monster in her flight path with super quick slashes.
Her enchanted swords moved so insanely fast that the regular soldiers standing behind her could not even see the blades. To the normal men, her hands just looked like a total blur. The weapons moved so quickly that they were almost seeing faint afterimages of the swords.
That was exactly how fast she was swinging.
She just kept slashing left and right, and the monsters just fell. Their body parts would fly here and there in completely random directions. Severed hands, legs, heads, and sometimes even random chunks of raw flesh and organs just rained down.
It was completely random. It looked like she was not even bothering to aim for their sensitive, vital areas.
She was just violently cutting right through them like they were nothing but cheap training targets made of straw. She did not even see the need to conserve her physical energy. For her, every single part of their body was a fatal weakness. Their thick hides were basically like paper to her since she could just slice through them without putting in much of her strength.
She quickly overtook Adrian and Draven.
It only took her around five to eight seconds to get ahead of them and then, she just began slaughtering every single monster in sight.
Adrian soon noticed her insane kill speed.
He was just walking forward at a pretty reasonable, steady pace. He walked forward casually while purely focusing on controlling all of his spinning chakrams.
But while he was doing this, a randomly leg of a dire wolf just came flying through the air and fell right in front of him.
Because the severed limbs came down in a high arc, and his chakrams were spinning at a very specific, low height where they could effectively attack every kind of monster. Since the goblins were short, the chakrams were spinning pretty low. The dire wolf’s severed leg just fell right inside his ring of death.
This was something that Adrian noticed immediately. So he looked up at the direction where the direwolf’s limb came from.
And there he saw Sigrid.
While she was slashing the smaller monsters to pieces, she was also kicking the bigger ones with a lot of force. She would kick the massive ogres, and the heavy impact would just launch the ogres backward. The flying ogres would smash into the monsters behind them, and all of them would just fly directly toward Adrian’s spinning chakrams.
This brutal teamwork was just increasing Adrian’s overall kill efficiency even more.
And due to this, the single severed leg which originally caught Adrian’s attention made him just stare at her. He could not help but look at her.
He saw exactly how fast she was killing. Even his eyes could not properly track her hands and he was an E rank Knight himself.
’Okay.’ Adrian thought in pure awe.
Then he looked back behind him.
