The Villainess Is My Cute Daughter
Chapter 406: Cassius’s Son
The four of them walked out of the restaurant with their bellies full. Every single one of them had overeaten.
Adrian patted his belly and kept walking, and this time Aria wasn’t sitting on his shoulders. She was right beside him, with Serena and Claire lifting her up by her armpits so she could pretend she was running on air, giggling the whole time.
He looked around. The streets were still bustling, but since it was around lunchtime, a lot of people had ducked into restaurants. The market area itself had three restaurants similar to the one they’d just left.
And so began the shopping spree.
First came clothes from the same tailor who helped Adrian make a custom dress for Aria on her birthday, and then came plushies. All three of the girls bought a lot of them, and every single one went straight into Aria’s storage ring. Adrian picked up a few utensils too, ones he’d always wanted to test out. The utensils he usually used were basically made by himself, and even before that, he’d only ever used what he was familiar with. So he hadn’t really tried most of the stuff commoners in this world used, even if some of it was nicer or weirder.
As they kept walking, Adrian spotted a wide open area that was still under construction.
He looked at the building going up and smiled a little. He remembered the people from the Church of Prosperity walking to his mansion when he first came here. They wanted to establish a church in Oresfall, and they didn’t want some simple multi-story building. They wanted something artistic, and churches built in key locations had to be huge too.
And because of that, not even half the construction was done. It looked very incomplete.
Adrian couldn’t help but sigh.
A church taking this long to finish was just... something he expected, honestly. But now that he was looking at it, it felt a little annoying. He turned to look at his own market area. Multiple buildings, multiple small shops.
Everything already fully built.
And then there was a church sitting right next to the market, looking like it had been abandoned.
He could see people working. They weren’t on a holiday, since they weren’t from Oresfall. They were the ones the church sent over to help with construction. The numbers were abysmal with barely around twelve people working on an entire church.
Adrian let out another sigh and made a mental note to talk to whoever was in charge.
Then he turned to Aria.
"Do you want something else?"
Aria nodded and pointed at a small stall on the side of the street.
Adrian walked over and saw what they were selling, which were clay dolls. Seeing them reminded him of anime figurines, but these didn’t have multiple colors. They were all brownish.
He looked at them, then turned to Aria.
"You want these?"
She nodded.
Adrian looked at the shopkeeper, who was looking at him with way too much respect.
"Pack everything you have. I’ll buy it all."
The guy nodded immediately and started putting every single statue into wooden boxes. Multiple boxes stuffed with hay. Once done, he tied them with rope and placed them on the counter.
Adrian stood there for almost ten to twenty minutes until the guy finished, then sent all the boxes into his storage ring.
The shopping spree continued past sunset, and eventually Adrian went back to the same restaurant for dinner.
This time the waiter was different, and Adrian recognized him.
It was none other than Cassius’s son.
The kid walked over and smiled at everyone. He was barely seven or eight years old, but he was working in a restaurant as a waiter.
Adrian looked at him and sighed.
’I need to bring in laws to stop stuff like this.’
The kid looked confused, but still did his job.
"Could you please tell me what you’d like to eat for dinner?"
Then he made eye contact with Aria, and his smile widened.
Adrian did not miss this. He squinted his eyes, but what could he even do? He couldn’t just yell at a kid for no apparent reason.
He took a slow, deep breath.
"Tell us what’s for lunch. I mean, tell us what’s for dinner."
The kid straightened up.
"My lord, for dinner we have a lot of things. A lot of tasty things. A lot of things that you like a lot."
Adrian just looked at him for three whole seconds. He could see beads of sweat forming on the kid’s forehead.
"Well, I asked you what is available on the menu. Which means you need to tell me the names of the items."
The kid stared at him.
"I’ll go ask and come back."
Then he immediately ran off.
Adrian leaned back in his chair and sighed.
Not even two minutes later, another person walked in. Luckily it wasn’t the same kid.
This person was a really tall man. He walked over, smiled at everyone, and looked at Adrian.
"My lord, I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the kid. He’s pretty new and he doesn’t really know what he’s doing. He said he wanted to learn about jobs and money because apparently his father kicked him out because he asked for money to buy toys. He was basically told he needs to learn how money works before he gets to demand it."
Adrian just looked at him.
"I never asked you any of that... but okay. Just tell me what’s on the menu."
The guy stared at Adrian for three whole seconds, then took out a thin wooden plank he was holding and placed it on the table. It had a list of items written on it.
Adrian looked at the list, then back at the guy.
"So even you don’t remember?"
The guy did a fake cough.
"Well, I joined around three hours ago. So that kid is actually my senior, because he joined around noon. He’s been here for more than six hours."
