Chapter 175: The Patrol

Charlotte walked through the crowd toward the direction of the fight.

"What are you guys looking at? Do you want to join him on the ground?"

Kael’s voice immediately threatened.

The crowd quickly dispersed, leaving only Charlotte, who arrived at the scene with a cute frown on her face.

"Oh, Charlotte. What are you doing here?" Kael asked, clearly stunned.

"What do you mean by that? You’re the one who got into a fight in the presence of a member of the Disciplinary Committee," she complained.

Kael sighed.

"Come on, Charlotte. It’s not like our academy has a problem with fighting."

Because, as far as I remember, fights haven’t occurred that often in the academy.

Kael thought about it.

There had been an event before Leon’s arrival that had made the academy extremely competitive between the different races.

"What do you mean by that? This is definitely because you don’t patrol around the academy," Charlotte complained.

"In that case, when is our next patrol? Maybe I can go then."

"Well, I happen to be going on a patrol now, and you are definitely coming with me."

Charlotte paused before adding,

"And one more thing."

She turned toward Felix, who was still out cold, barely twitching on the ground.

"We would have to press charges against you if Felix decides to come forward."

Kael looked at Felix’s unconscious figure before looking back at Charlotte.

"Yeah, I’m sure he won’t press charges. After all, he’s the one at fault."

Charlotte rolled her eyes before walking forward.

"Alright, come on. Let’s get going."

Kael followed behind her with a smirk.

This is going to be fun.

Meanwhile, Lilian woke up.

She sat up in her bed before walking into her bathroom to wash up and prepare for school.

A smile remained on her face.

Although she wasn’t entirely sure why she was so happy.

What did Kael mean when he said I was his secret weapon?

Lilian thought silently.

Does he have another objective that he’s keeping hidden from me? After all, I haven’t heard a single good thing about him since I entered the academy.

She remembered first seeing Kael when they had initially arrived at the academy.

She had been a little envious of him.

He hadn’t participated in the entrance exam. Instead, he had simply bought his way into the academy, which showed just how fortunate he was.

She remembered the first day she had actually seen Kael.

He hadn’t been what she expected.

Knowing that nobles were normally arrogant, and with a noble family as wealthy as the Draven family, she had expected him to immediately throw his weight around in class.

Instead, he had simply sat quietly at the back of the classroom, barely speaking to anyone.

He was occasionally seen with a girl, although Lilian didn’t remember who she was or what she looked like.

Lilian stepped out of her room with a smile.

Although I don’t understand how my power is special, at the very least, I know that I’m useful to someone.

Her smile widened.

But the Church...

That thought entered her mind once more.

Her mother had always told her to avoid the Church, although she had never explained why.

Now, however, even the teachers seemed worried about the Church’s involvement because of whatever special power she possessed.

If the Church discovered it, they would undoubtedly seek her out.

Don’t worry too much about those complicated things. I’ll protect you.

Kael’s words echoed in the back of her mind.

Lilian smiled.

"Kael Draven."

She said his name with a dreamy expression.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t paying attention to where she was going.

She turned the corner and bumped into someone.

"Wow, look who is here?"

A familiar voice questioned from above her.

Lilian looked up.

She stared directly at Kael’s face with a dazed expression.

Speak of the devil.

"Wow, what a coincidence. Seeing Lilian this early."

Charlotte’s voice echoed beside Kael.

Lilian immediately shifted her gaze toward her.

"Oh, Charlotte. You’re here too."

"Lilian, you should be more shocked that Kael is here. This lazy bum would normally still be sleeping. The only day he decides to be productive is when he assaults a student."

"Wait. You actually assault students?"

Lilian asked with a stunned expression.

Kael looked at her.

He suddenly felt the need to tease her.

"Yes, that’s right. I have a list of all the first- and second-year students in my room, and I randomly choose who to assault."

His crimson eyes glowed menacingly as he stared at Lilian.

Smack!

Charlotte immediately smacked him on the head.

"Ow! What was that for?"

Kael complained.

"It’s what you get for trying to scare a new addition to our team!"

Charlotte shouted at him.

Lilian looked between the two of them before deciding to ask her question.

"So, what are both of you doing here? Are you here to see me, or has the training already started?"

"Nope. Hold your horses."

Kael raised a hand.

"Training doesn’t start that fast. It will begin after lectures, and Miss Stella will be the one guiding you."

"And as for why we’re here, we’re going on patrol."

Charlotte folded her arms.

"Which is rare for this lazy bum."

"Hey."

Kael looked clearly offended.

Lilian looked at the interaction between the two of them with a thoughtful expression.

"So, are the both of you going out together?"

Charlotte immediately stopped in her tracks.

A blush crept up her face from her neck.

"Why would you ask something like that? Do we look like a couple?"

She complained, clearly flustered.

Kael simply kept his calm expression, a smile forming on his face.

"Well, back when the both of you were in Class D, you were always together. Even now that you’re in Class A, you’re always together. So assuming that you’re dating isn’t exactly a wrong assumption."

"That’s a reasonable assumption. I agree with her reasoning."

Kael nodded.

"Why are you agreeing with her?"

Charlotte asked exasperatedly.

"Why are you so quick to deny it?"

Kael replied with a slight frown.

"Is it so bad if you dated me?"

"That’s not what I mean, and you know that, don’t you?"

Charlotte immediately shifted her anger toward Kael as lightning flickered across her eyes.

"Alright, no need to get violent. I was just playing along."

Kael raised his hands defensively.

Charlotte calmed down, but not before giving Kael a kick to the shin.

"You see? We are not dating."

She turned toward Lilian.

Lilian calmly watched them argue.

They sounded like a married couple.

"I see. I completely understand."

Charlotte immediately released a relieved sigh before turning back to Kael.

"This is all your fault. Maybe I really do need to reduce contact with you."

Kael didn’t think much of her blabbering.

Meanwhile, Lilian stared at Kael once more.

So Kael isn’t dating anyone at the moment.

A silent smile appeared on her face.

But he is a nice guy if you filter out the bad rumors surrounding him. Most of them seem to be fake.

She paused.

Except the one about assaulting a student. That one might actually stick.

"Okay, Kael. Let’s continue with our patrol."

Charlotte grabbed Kael and began dragging him forward.

They continued through the academy until they neared the blacksmith section.

Suddenly, a fight broke out nearby.

"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN ON?! DID YOU JUST THINK THAT I WAS SHORT?!"

A clear voice echoed through the area.

"Wait, what do you mean by that? I just said that you were ranked fourth among the first-years."

Another voice replied.

"SO YOU THINK I’M RANKED FOURTH BECAUSE I’M SHORT?! IS THAT IT?!"

"No, I never said that!"

"ALL OF YOU ARE JUST THE SAME! THINKING YOU CAN LOOK DOWN ON ME JUST BECAUSE I’M SHORT!"

Kael immediately recognized the voice.

Who else but Hulk?

He silently sighed before walking toward the commotion.

Charlotte looked at him.

"See? I told you that violence is a normal occurrence in this academy."

She wore a smug smile.

Kael, Charlotte, and Lilian continued walking toward the scene of the fight.

And just as predicted, it was Hulk who had started the fight.

"Wait, isn’t that Hulk? Why is he starting a fight here?"

Charlotte suddenly asked.

Kael turned toward her as if she had asked the most obvious question in the world.

"Why would you ask such an obvious question? Didn’t you watch the tournament? You’re supposed to know his temperament by now. You are literally classmates."

"I thought Dwarves normally learned crafting. Why would they be in a class?"

Lilian asked.

"Well, he’s special."

Kael already felt a massive headache coming.

Meanwhile, inside Felix’s room, the surroundings had become quiet.

Most of the students on his block had already gone to class.

Felix’s body twitched slightly.

His eyes slowly opened.

He groaned as he sat up, feeling sore all over his body.

Then he noticed two upperclassmen dressed in black standing over him.

From the emblem on their uniforms, Felix immediately recognized them as members of the Disciplinary Committee.

One of them looked down at him.

"What happened here?" he immediately asked.
