Chapter 1834: Chapter 758: Immortal Beauty (Part 2)
"Maybe I just can’t handle this stuff. I’ve tried the top-tier ones too, but they all taste the same to me."
Zhou Wang shrugged.
"Top-tier ones?"
"Yeah, Heaven Nine Fin. The chef said it’s the most expensive kind of fin, had it at the Chinese restaurant in Peng City Raffles Hotel..."
Zhou Wang casually mentioned, recalling the "sky-high bill" from a trip with four girls.
"Pfft!"
At this moment, Xu Wanting couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.
"Hey, Zhou Wang, if you’re going to brag, at least have some limits. Heaven Nine Fin, really? Do you know which shark’s fin it’s made from? It’s a first-class protected species, how could you eat that in this era?"
"Uh, Wanting, don’t speak recklessly. Brother Dog is not just anyone; he wouldn’t brag about this sort of thing..."
Yang Hao quickly tried to explain, but Zhou Wang stopped him.
"Hmm, you’re probably right. Maybe I remembered it wrong."
Zhou Wang said calmly, not bothered to argue with Xu Wanting.
Have you ever seen someone argue with a frog?
In their eyes, the world is only so big, and they can never understand the broader scenery.
Seeing Zhou Wang admit he was wrong, Xu Wanting pouted and didn’t say much more, but her opinion of Zhou Wang dropped another notch.
What a pity for that handsome face. Hmm, though his figure seems quite nice too...
With that thought, Xu Wanting’s cheeks turned a little red.
Earlier, when they entered the private room, there was a small incident. A waiter accidentally spilled tea on Zhou Wang’s T-shirt. Feeling uncomfortable, Zhou Wang had taken it off to go clean up in the restroom, during which Xu Wanting caught a glimpse of his upper body.
Those sculptural muscle contours, wide shoulders, latissimus dorsi, and the faint V-line...
Zhou Wang’s girlfriend must be living the high life, huh?
That was Xu Wanting’s fleeting thought as she looked at Yang Hao, who, although decent-looking, had put on a bit of weight. She instantly felt somewhat deflated.
But Xu Wanting quickly consoled herself. After all, this Zhou Wang was just a "pretty face" with almost no other redeeming qualities, while Yang Hao not only had a great personality but also came from a good family. He was quite a desirable catch.
The only issue remaining now was to deal with Yang Hao’s current partner.
The meal ended with each of them lost in their own thoughts. What amused Zhou Wang was seeing how Ji Xiaoxi, possibly fearing another prank from him, deliberately sat next to Xu Wanting, as far from Zhou Wang as possible.
Then, at the time of settling the bill, an interesting scene unfolded.
The waiter came in with the check, and Xu Wanting took a look at it before exclaiming, "Oh dear, it seems like we ordered too much. It’s a bit pricey, isn’t it, Yang Hao?"
To Zhou Wang, her demeanor seemed incredibly contrived: you personally ordered that sautéed lobster and red crab, yet you pretend to be clueless about the cost. But to Yang Hao, Xu Wanting just seemed to be subconsciously seeking his help.
So, as usual, Yang Hao reached out to take the bill, but Zhou Wang, having glimpsed the four-digit figure, stopped him.
"Man, you kidding me? With just a few hundred left on your WhatsApp balance, and you still want to show off?"
Zhou Wang remarked, surprised.
"Uh, well, I do have a credit card..."
Yang Hao blushed, as Zhou Wang was right; he didn’t have much left on his phone. The store had been losing money lately, and while there was still money in the business account, it was needed for daily operations and loan interest payments.
As partners, both were tightening their belts to get by.
"Ah, why do you only have a few hundred left?"
Xu Wanting seemed incredulous.
"It’s normal. We’ve lost hundreds of thousands recently. Yang Hao is doing well to have a few hundred left. Look at my WhatsApp balance—barely 86 bucks 9 cents. That’s my weekly living expense."
Zhou Wang said with a cheerful smile, even showing his phone for proof.
"You guys... Yang Hao, is this true?"
Xu Wanting’s expression fluctuated as she looked at Yang Hao for confirmation, "Is the situation at your store really this bad?"
"Well, it’s a bit tough, but..."
"Oh my, how did it come to this? That’s just too—"
Xu Wanting frowned but stopped her sentence when noticing Zhou Wang’s playful gaze. Instead, she switched to a softer tone to comfort Yang Hao.
"It’s okay, it’s okay. You’re so capable; things will surely improve. Hmm... how about I treat you guys to this meal since I’ve just received my bonus this month."
Zhou Wang was a bit surprised; it seemed Xu Wanting was more skilled than he had imagined.
Seeing Yang Hao visibly moved, Zhou Wang couldn’t help but shake his head.
For a meal worth a thousand, is it really that serious?
If you knew Miss Di once tried to give me ninety million, what would you think?
Man, you’re the one who hasn’t had the best yet...
He didn’t care to use a meal to target Xu Wanting, but since having Cantonese cuisine was her idea, she should cover the bill—just common sense.
All the while, Ji Xiaoxi remained silent, but now her lips moved slightly as she glanced at Zhou Wang, filled with unvoiced questions, but ultimately said nothing as she looked away when Zhou’s gaze met hers.
...
Today seemed unusually eventful.
After the meal, they were supposed to go to the movies, but Xu Wanting thought Yang Hao had bought the tickets, while Yang Hao assumed Xu Wanting had. By the time they reached the cinema, they discovered neither had bought any...
Fine, they had to buy on the spot, but when they opened the app, there were no good seats for the nearest showings, and the ones with seats required another hour’s wait, leaving all four silently pondering their next move.
Feeling that they shouldn’t just end their outing like this, Xu Wanting made a proposal:
"How about we go to a private cinema? Hmm, I found one nearby while searching, and the pictures make the place look quite nice."
"Private cinema?"
Ji Xiaoxi hesitated audibly.
She had never been to such a place and felt a bit uneasy.
But under Xu Wanting’s persuasion, Ji Xiaoxi agreed, and nodded while sneaking a glance at Zhou Wang, although he wasn’t paying attention, busy chatting with Yang Hao.
Yang Hao naturally had no objections, and for Zhou Wang, seeing Ji Xiaoxi agree meant he had to go along, too.
...
Walking into the private cinema named "Immortal Beauty," Zhou Wang and Yang Hao almost thought they’d gone to the wrong place.
Because near the reception, a row of young ladies sat on sofas, all in short skirts showing off their legs, looking youthful and energetic, if not downright stunning.
Soon Zhou Wang realized these must be the so-called "viewing assistants," though what that "assistance" entailed couldn’t be easily described.
In Xu Wanting and Ji Xiaoxi’s eyes, they only noted that the "service staff’s" attire seemed a bit unprofessional and drew no further conclusions.
Being a two-couple group, the receptionist wisely refrained from offering assistant services and simply booked them a large Japanese tatami-themed room based on their request, leading them to their reserved area.
All said and done, the private cinema’s environment was actually quite pleasant. With curtains drawn and the door closed, it was suddenly a world apart.
The tatami was a sort of extended floor seating. Naturally, Yang Hao sat beside Xu Wanting; ordinarily, Zhou Wang should have sat next to Yang Hao, with Ji Xiaoxi next to Xu. But Zhou Wang instead headed straight to Ji Xiaoxi’s side.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
Xu Wanting couldn’t help but suspiciously block Zhou Wang.
