The Witch-king of Angmar, once the greatest of Sauron's servants, spent two centuries fighting a war within his own soul before the ring claimed him. When Sauron fell and the Nazgûl were freed, the last withered fragment of that ancient soul scattered into the unknown. It found its way into the Eyrie, into the body of a newborn boy, the secret bastard of Jon Arryn and Elena Royce of Runestone, Axel Arryn.

Axel is raised in the Eyrie under Jon Arryn's hand, alongside Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark. he grows into a child with a conqueror's memory and with mother's love still warm in his chest.

But the game of thrones does not care what lives inside a boy. War comes, kings fall, and Axel must rule before he is old enough to be ruled.
