Chapter 1595: Chapter 1612: You Really Wish I Were Dead
And at this moment, the entire hall fell silent.
The manager, holding a file, began to read: "The name of this person is—"
"Hiss—" Everyone held their breath, their hearts about to leap out of their throats.
"Miss Qi Yue!" The manager finally announced the name, and immediately, a sigh of disappointment spread through the crowd.
"Why not me..."
"Yeah... Who is Qi Yue?"
Everyone looked at each other, searching through the crowd.
Just then, Qi Yue slowly stepped forward from the crowd, and everyone couldn’t help but make way for her, stunned!
"It’s her..."
"How can it be her?"
"No way, she’s Qi Yue? Oh my god! How could this be?!"
Qi Yue was even more shocked than anyone else inside. She awkwardly stepped forward, glancing around.
Could they be calling the wrong person? Is it really her? Maybe there’s someone with the same name?
But no one else stepped forward; only she had that name.
What the hell, how is this possible...
Qi Yue felt like a thousand llamas were racing through her mind.
Until she reached the manager, she weakly said, "My name is Qi Yue..."
"Hello, Miss Qi Yue..." The manager looked her over, his expression complex but still smiled and said, "Please come with me to meet the president!"
Immediately, all eyes filled with envy and jealousy turned to Qi Yue.
"It’s really her... Oh my god..."
"Yes, I’m so envious..."
Just like that, Qi Yue walked out of the interview room amid the crowd’s discussions.
She was led all the way to the president’s office door.
The manager knocked on the door.
"Come in." A deep voice came from inside. Qi Yue felt extremely nervous, clutched her chest with her hand, then followed the manager inside.
"President, Miss Qi Yue has been brought in for you."
Situ Yan sat at the desk, his black suit making him appear stern and indifferent.
He had his head down, expressionlessly looking at documents.
Hearing the sound, he merely said without lifting his head, "You may go ahead and attend to your work."
"Yes, President." The manager respectfully exited.
Qi Yue looked at the face in front of her, seemingly familiar, and couldn’t help but frown slightly.
Because it was a bit far, and Situ Yan had his head down, she couldn’t see his face clearly.
"You are Qi Yue? I read your resume; you’re applying for the assistant position in the planning department, correct?"
Situ Yan lifted his head and tossed aside the resume he was holding.
Qi Yue nodded, quickly smiling: "Yes... I..."
Suddenly, when she clearly saw the man in front of the desk, her whole body went stiff.
"What about you?"
Qi Yue didn’t speak; she stumbled a step back, eyes widened at Situ Yan, her face turning pale.
Situ Yan slightly frowned.
"What’s wrong?" Situ Yan frowned with some displeasure, as if this woman had seen a ghost upon seeing him.
"You... it’s you... you..." Qi Yue stuttered over the word ’you’ three times, finally blurting out, "You’re still alive?"
Situ Yan’s pupils shrank, his expression growing complex.
"What do you mean?" he stood up, walking towards Qi Yue.
Qi Yue quickly stepped back, as if Situ Yan was about to eat her alive.
Situ Yan’s lips curved into a smile; he raised an eyebrow, almost assuredly asking, "You recognize me?"
"Situ Yan?"
"Yes, my name is Situ Yan."
"You... you’re not dead?"
"Do you really wish I were dead?"
