This Doctor Is Too Wealthy
Chapter 1241 - 1241: 793 Let's go home, I won't.
"Serious?"
Sun Jiaxiang sighed leisurely, a wave of languor washing over him. "Actually, at our age, there's no such thing as 'serious' or 'not serious.' Birth, old age, sickness, and death—these are natural laws. It's only a matter of whether this day comes early or late."
Du Heng's mood sank.
The old man is right; natural law is unstoppable by human power.
Considering the old man on the sick bed inside, I am confident I can save him.
And then? Prolong his life by ten or twenty years? Impossible.
Based on the current situation, my medicine merely adjusts the balance in the old man's body, allowing him to catch his breath for now.
There's no change in the old man's fundamental condition of depleted qi and blood; the decline is an irreversible fact.
Du Heng looked around. Seeing that Sun Jiaxiang's Assistant had left and only the two of them remained in the small room, he whispered, "Sir Sun, how long do you think the patient inside can last after this ordeal?"
"Half a year, one or two years, or three or four years," Sun Jiaxiang replied softly. "With the help of top technology, the best Doctors, and the most precious Medicine Ingredients, who can say for sure?"
Sun Jiaxiang glanced back at Du Heng. "You should be able to see this too. Why are you asking?"
Du Heng wanted to voice his thoughts, but after opening his mouth, he felt it wasn't appropriate. "No, just asking."
Sun Jiaxiang gave Du Heng a curious look, said nothing, and closed his eyes again.
Everyone waited. It was early morning when the old man, who had been in a light coma, briefly regained consciousness before falling into a deep sleep.
At the same time, as expected, the old man became incontinent.
However, no one commented or seemed to mind. The smooth passage of defecation and urination indicated that the old man was beginning to recover.
These old experts, like Sun Jiaxiang, couldn't stay up all night after their daytime ordeal. Since they couldn't go back either, they had to rest early in the prepared rest room.
And Du Heng, as a young man and the attending Physician, stayed up all night, not closing his eyes until dawn.
When he walked out of the building in the morning, after nearly twenty-four hours inside, Du Heng felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted, and he was incredibly relaxed.
Even though it was just another treatment, this one was exhausting. Not only was my body tired, but my heart was even more tired.
But, every cloud has a silver lining.
Du Heng smiled faintly, patted his cheeks, and quickly returned to the Hospital.
"Director Wu, didn't you have a class at the School this morning? Why didn't you go?" Du Heng asked as soon as he reached the office and saw Director Wu there.
Director Wu was leisurely making tea. He was ready to enjoy a good cup before starting his job for the day when Du Heng's voice reached his ears.
"Ah, Xiao Du, how come you're back?"
"Well, I came back after he was treated," Du Heng said, smiling as he entered the office. "Why didn't you go to class, Director?"
Director Wu let out a long breath. "Oh, I thought you'd be gone for two or three days, so I rescheduled both your classes and mine." He shook his head. "I didn't expect you to solve it in just one night."
Du Heng also laughed modestly. "With so many seniors there, of course, progress was faster thanks to their collective wisdom."
But Director Wu shook his head directly. "Alright, don't flatter them anymore. I admit their skills are superior to mine, but they also harbor more petty schemes. Let me tell you, my own skills may not be good enough to qualify for the Health Committee, but before my Teacher retired, he was a real expert in there."
Director Wu looked at Du Heng and smiled. "I know much more about their true colors than you do."
Thinking of yesterday's scene, Du Heng also smiled knowingly.
"Alright, no more chatting. You look like you've been up all night. Hurry up and get some sleep; you still have to attend the outpatient service this afternoon."
Back on his own turf, waves of fatigue washed over Du Heng. Director Wu's reminder made him feel like his energy was faltering.
"Thanks, Director. I'll go take a nap. I really can't hold out any longer."
Back in the duty dormitory, just as he was about to sleep, Du Heng suddenly felt hungry. It was then he realized he hadn't eaten breakfast when he arrived in the morning.
However, he felt too lazy to go out and buy breakfast now.
His eyes wandered around and spotted an opened box of instant noodles under the table.
This stuff is definitely an indispensable 'strategic material' in every duty dormitory.
He boiled water, soaked the Instant Noodles, and sat on a stool. While waiting, he began to reflect on yesterday's gains.
But after being busy for a day and a night, my brain is completely fried. As soon as I try to think about things, it goes blank within seconds.
In this blank state, Du Heng seemed to be in a trance, or perhaps he had entered a shallow sleep.
Just then, Du Heng, still in a daze, suddenly sensed a darkness before his eyes, startling him awake.
When he carefully looked for the source of the shadow, he saw a 'spiderman' hanging outside the window, diligently wiping the glass.
Speaking of the windows in this Hospital, they actually had a very interesting history of development.
Initially, all windows in the Hospital—whether in corridors, Hospital rooms, or the offices of Doctors and nurses—were like typical household windows. They had two panes that could be fully opened from left to right.
