This Heroine's Friend Has the Power of Botany
Chapter 284: The Ancestor
Chapter 284
The Ancestor
Initially, Ellie didn’t want him to step in, but her little Apple couldn’t make the arrogant device form a contract. Seeing that the demonic beast creator might make a move soon, if they didn’t form the contract quickly, it might get taken away. Thus, Eldest Young Lord Owen came out to "persuade" the magical equipment to follow Ellie.
Forming the contract wasn’t complicated. In the end, Ellie now had 3 spiritual devices in her possession...
- Spirit Alchemical Wheel, Level 6 (Defective): Properties - Initially, the Alchemical Wheel required complete power from all 5 elements to select the desired outcome. However, the creator only desired the spirit of destruction, thus changing its properties to a defective Alchemical Wheel. It can only turn water flowing through it into poison.
Action Panel
Unable to perform any action.
Special Option: Can be stored within the spirit or summoned for use.
Special Option 2: Due to being a high-level spirit and residing in the stratagem for a long time, it can be used simultaneously to create poison tentacles without requiring any additional magic power. It is a freely controlled level 6 spirit, enhancing its attack power by increasing the magic power in the stratagem. -
Ellie looked at the high-level but seemingly most useless magical equipment with a sense of disheartened. It really seemed quite useless. If not for her little Apple waiting for food, it couldn’t do much other than turn water into poison. Perhaps it could be useful against enemies, making it impossible for their camp to find drinkable water by poisoning all water sources.
Another advantage was that it resided with the high-level stratagem. Originally, the stratagem had no spirit of its own and required enemies to trigger it. With the Spirit Alchemical Wheel, they mutually supported each other.
“How do you plan to deal with the demonic beast creator?” Ellie asked, noticing Owen silently staring at her. The large man glanced at the giant Demon Frog, which was now gradually shrinking, letting clear water flow to the village as intended. However, the village had been severely damaged by poison tentacles, so abundant water didn’t mean it was habitable again.
"I see that he wants this magical equipment badly. So, let’s make it seem like this equipment refuses to accept you as its master. When he arrives, I want to see how he reacts."
“What?! You want me to act? I can’t do that. I am a magical device with honor and dignity. Once I accept someone as my master, I show it clearly. Why should I have to...”
Crack!!
A small current of electricity appeared on Owen’s palm, and it immediately silenced the complaints of the ancient magical device. If he had a physical form, he would probably be standing there with his arms crossed and cheeks puffed out in sulkiness.
Well...why always resort to threatening it with electricity? Couldn’t they have a civilized conversation instead?
“After this, I think you should let it reside in Pan 4 City. Otherwise, you might find it too annoying.”
"Understood," Ellie also thought the same. It would be quite amusing to see it around her proud level 5 Microbial Spirit Orb. One used botanic whips, the other acidic water—it would be interesting to see what kind of destruction their fights would bring.
The ancient magical device couldn’t understand what the two were planning, but it had a vague sense of impending doom about its future.
"It’s coming." Ellie paused slightly, detecting a large figure heading their way. She knew the young man wanted to make it seem like he was inside the house to avoid arousing suspicion among the students and professors. Ellie had also slipped out to negotiate with the level 6 magical device.
Owen’s sharp eyes glared at the ancient magical device one last time before he slowly disappeared, leaving Ellie alone in Luke’s guise. After seeing the Demon Frog, now only 1 meter tall, stood beside a young man in a black cloak, the village chief’s son hid for a moment to observe, but he could hear only curses.
"Get lost, you brat! Do you think I’d willingly follow you? I’m a level 6 magical device! Do you think I’d follow a kid who still smells of milk? I’ve lived for thousands of years. I didn’t want to follow people stronger than you, so why would I follow a weakling like you? Get out of my sight now!"
The old man’s loud protests almost made Ellie smile. It seemed this old man was quite the actor. Even though he had initially refused the job, his stellar performance showed that...part of it came from his true feelings.
"Even if you don’t want to accept me, it doesn’t matter. Today, I will make you form a bond with me," Ellie said in a deep, masculine voice.
"Heh, heh, heh. Do you think it will be easy to deal with me? I’d rather be destroyed than follow you," the old man boasted as if he were strong. In reality, just a little electrical torment had almost made him beg for mercy. The idea of being destroyed was laughable!
He had just awakened and begun to swing his tentacles left and right. It wasn’t enough to satisfy his long-awaited rampage. Wasn’t his creator’s purpose to unleash chaos? How could a spirit waited for destruction tolerate this? He couldn’t bear to be destroyed without fulfilling his purpose.
“You’re far too stubborn. No matter how you resist, I will...hmm? Who are you?!” Luke turned to face the newcomer, spotting a figure in a black cloak slowly emerging. It was, of course, the son of the village chief, but given the past incident with the emergency camp leader, this might not be his true self.
“I’m just a passerby. Don’t mind me, Sir Hunter.”
“A passerby? Then you should be on your way. The fact that you stand before me suggests you have a purpose.”
“You, the strong hunter, are perceptive. Indeed, I’ve seen your battle earlier. That Demon Frog of yours has saved many and halted the attacks of this wicked magical device. I merely admire you. However, because of this admiration, I’d prefer not to destroy you before we negotiate.”
“Negotiate?”
“Yes, sir. I don’t know why you are here, but this magical device is something I’ve been seeking for a long time.”
“Seeking? You speak as if you knew about this device beforehand.”
“Haha, you could say that. This magical device is mentioned in the heritage books of my family. It was created by my ancestors. Because of this, I have been searching for it. Over the centuries, things have changed, and its location was slightly off. Nevertheless, it is indeed the magical device my ancestors left for their descendants.”
The man in black said, and Ellie could sense that he was not lying about the heritage books. However, what kind of ancestor would leave such a destructive tool as an inheritance?
“Lies! You are a deceitful rascal. My creator would never bestow such a thing upon anyone. My sole purpose is to destroy all life!!” the ancient magical device shouted angrily. It knew its creator’s nature well, as it had been born with the same destructive purpose.
It’s a shame that it was dealt with before it could fulfill its creator’s intention...But who could it blame other than its creator, who made it a defective magical device? If it had been made stronger, it would have long ago finished off the creator’s enemies’ descendants!
"Esteemed elder, I am not lying. I cannot bring the entire book to show you, but I have torn out a small piece. Please look at this handwriting and see if it is familiar to you."
The middle-aged man spoke earnestly, pulling out a dark brown parchment with ancient script written on it. The handwriting was irregular but bold and resolute. As soon as the level 6 magical device saw it, it recognized the writing as that of its creator.
"T-This is..."
Upon hearing the words of the ancient weapon, the man in the black cloak smirked slightly. He believed this plan would indeed lure the magical device into making a contract with him. He then hid his true intentions and presented himself as sincere and earnest.
"Esteemed elder, you see that this is indeed the handwriting of your creator. This creator is truly my ancestor. He left this book for his descendants like us to follow through with your purpose. We have the same enemies. However, my ancestor did not know that the enemies had moved far away. So, this vendetta was never fulfilled."
"I am a descendant who has inherited this grudge. After learning about this, I have been searching for you all along, hoping that one day I will find you and lead you to true vengeance. I know where the descendants of our enemies are. So...if you follow me, we can avenge my ancestor’s grudge truly."
The village chief’s son spoke convincingly, with a document to back up his claims. If it weren’t for the fact that the magical device had already been forced into forming a bond by the lightning user earlier, it might have decided to follow this man. At least following him seemed better than following this young, weak child.
And it wasn’t just because the child was young; it was also because he was fond of men. Actually, it wouldn’t have minded making a contract with the lightning user himself. However, knowing that it had become merely a gift to the lightning user’s weaker, seemingly powerless lover made it feel discontented.
Having been on this earth for so long and having absorbed so much human thought, it felt emotions akin to humans. Seeing itself valued only as a gift, it couldn’t help but feel a sense of inferiority.
But unfortunately, this man came too late!
“Hah! Do you think I would follow the descendants of my creator just because you share the same bloodline? Besides, I’m not interested in any revenge. I’d much rather stay here quietly!”
“That’s not true. You have the spirit of vengeance within you. You must feel the urge to use your power to attack, destroying everything in your path. If you follow me...”
“I said I don’t want to! All of you, get out of here now!!” The magical device couldn’t stand it any longer and roared, making the village chief’s son’s face change color.
“Alright then, since this device doesn’t want you either, let’s respect the one who found it first,” Luke cleared his throat slightly, drawing attention from both sides.
“That won’t do. This is a device I need. Even if you found it first, I won’t give it up so easily.”
“Oh, really? It seems this item means a lot to you.”
“Yes, it does. But...why do you want it so much, sir?”
“What? It’s a level 6 magical device, isn’t it? Though it seems difficult to use, such immense power can still be beneficial to me.”
“Beneficial in creating poison, perhaps?” The village chief’s son narrowed his eyes. He had seen how the Demon Frog consumed the poison earlier, even eating the demonic toxin he had released without any issues. So, he deduced this, and it turned out to be true.
“Humph, so you already know.”
“Actually...your beast seems quite interesting. Does it consume poison to increase its level?”
“Yes, you’re very clever.”
“Is that so? A truly fascinating beast, but it also seems a bit too dangerous...”
“.........” Ellie narrowed her eyes slightly. She sensed danger the moment he finished speaking.
“As I said, it’s interesting. But I can’t let it grow stronger. That’s because it’s a threat to us, and it might ruin our plans. So...sorry that I’ve to do this, but...you must die!”
At first, they were talking calmly, but only a moment later, the other party attacked. Ellie intended to listen more to his story, but she didn’t expect him to reveal nothing else and launch such a fierce attack.
After this, she could only hope that the Setter family would uncover more from his memories. She couldn’t let him attack her, and if she had to defend herself, it meant she had to win. Otherwise, only death awaited her.Boom!!!
