Chapter 30

A Dangerous Being

"Hand over your student card," Lucien said with a deadpan expression, but Nara’s face looked truly lifeless!

Being Lucien’s only direct disciple had allowed her to move comfortably within the institution. Even students who wanted to bully her had to hold back because of Lucien’s presence; otherwise, Nara couldn’t imagine what they might do to her.

Her hands clenched into fists, her eyes reddening with sorrow. She didn’t want to hand over her ID card to the professor because it would certainly mean the end of her status as his direct disciple.

"Professor, please, give me another chance. I now realize my mistake, sob. Waah." Nara didn’t have any better idea, she could only plop down to the floor, crying and pleading.

How could everything she had worked for fall apart like this? If not for Ellie’s deliberate malice, driven by jealousy that she herself wasn’t anyone’s direct disciple...then surely Nara wouldn’t have been destroyed like this, right?!

“...............” Lucien observed the girl’s dramatic demeanor but saw no genuine remorse. His eyes hardened, and a surge of his light magic power aimed directly at Nara. It made her dizzy, her consciousness fading instantly. With stronger power, he immediately subdued her.

Taking the student card from her, he swiftly severed their bond by sending in his magic power without thinking twice, finishing quickly. He returned her card and forcefully had her removed from the room, disregarding any protests.

Although he felt quite strange, as if he had done something wrong, Lucien felt more at ease after considering the circumstances. The disappointed look from Medik still lingered in his mind. Perhaps he should visit to the Botanical Building to gauge others’ reactions. He didn’t know what look Medik would give after seeing how decisively he had dealt with a misbehaving student.

Thrown out and unable to resist, Nara found a hidden spot and wept alone, looking pitiful. Yet even as she hid in a bush and cried, she could overhear numerous students gossiping excitedly about the incident.

"Did you hear about that scholarship students fight?"

"Of course! I heard that Professor Lucien’s scholarship student had invaded the room of Professor Medik’s student."

"Professor Lucien only has that one direct disciple, so he will definitely protect her. It’s the student of the beautiful Professor Medik who’s really in trouble."

"Ah! You don’t know the half of it. They say Professor Medik came out of the Botanical Building himself to speak to the Deputy Director!"

"Huh? Really? Professor Medik doesn’t usually get involved."

"That’s right. But as you said, if Professor Lucien stands up for his direct disciple, wouldn’t Professor Medik have to do the same since he also has only one botanic elemental student currently?"

"Who will come out on top, then?"

"I don’t know, but someone saw Professor Medik very angry. It seems this beautiful anger power might just win. Since I came here, I have never seen Professor Medik get angry at anyone before."

"Haha, but why would Professor Lucien’s scholarship student do something so terrible?"

"I heard that she was jealous because another scholarship student had money for food."

"Really? Aren’t they from the same village? How can they fight over a single meal? Ha ha, they’re like pigs and dogs fighting over this."

"Haha, they are poor, aren’t they? No wonder they fight over food like stray dogs!"

Hearing such harsh words, Nara felt deeply ashamed. She wanted to argue that she was not a dog, not a stray dog, but thinking about their derogatory comments that she was fighting over food with Ellie made her feel that arguing would only make her more embarrassed.

That’s because she really needed the money Ellie used to buy food!

If there’s someone to blame, wasn’t it Ellie for not sharing her money? For a friend from the same village, how could she watch her eat leftovers with such indifference? It was Ellie’s cold-heartedness that forced her to take action!

And those rich people! They had never been in the same situation as her, how could they know the pain of having to eat leftovers!?

Back to Ellie’s side. She was already in her own planting plot at the Botanical Building. Even though Professor Medik had come forward to help her, Ellie did not want to trouble him too much. Their relationship remained as distant as that of a typical professor and student. Ellie knew well how to use her powers and did not need to seek further advice from her professor.

The three-typed herbs she had given her botanic magic power the other day were already sprouting roots. However, they were not growing too fast due to the small amount of magic power they received. Ellie had dug a total of 100 planting holes according to the size of her planting plot, with 80 of them planted with Red Zuck plants. Within the next 30 days, Ellie would earn 800 points if all the Red Zuck plants grew. Another 16 holes were planted with Raden plants, and 4 holes with Clear Skite plants.

From her calculations, she could grow Red Zuck plants in all 80 plots up to 11 times over 330 days, giving a total of 8,800 points. As for the Raden, which takes 45 days to grow, she could only cycle them 6 times in 270 days, leaving another 60 days to grow Red Zuck for an additional 2 cycles. This would give her 1,664 points from the 16 holes. With these total points, she would definitely pass her first year. The remaining 4 holes for Clear Skite plants were considered a study project.

If she was confident about growing Clear Skite, next year she would dedicate half of her plots to it, and the other half to different plants to accumulate up to 20,000 points.

The path ahead seemed complicated, but it appeared that Ellie was timely aided by others, even though she was unaware of how many points she would earn from the missions assigned by the Setter family. Ultimately, it depended solely on her diligence, not just waiting as she was currently.

Ellie’s ability to track targets had been revealed, which meant it wasn’t just the Setter family’s mission she could undertake. She might be able to find other tasks next year. For this year, her current cultivation and the Setter family’s mission designed to assist her were sufficient. With the remaining time...Ellie wanted to use it to maximize her own power levels.

The petite young woman spent her time checking the status of her herbs. Today wasn’t a day for watering as the soil was still too moist. In this building, the sunlight wasn’t intense enough to cause significant evaporation. Overwatering could rot the tender roots of these herbs. Ellie did not use her powers to accelerate their growth any further; she now understood the meaning of walls had ears.

The Setter family knew about her plant’s decomposing ability, and even conversations in Professor Odin’s room were overheard by the greats one after another. So, Ellie should just let them grow naturally.

After roughly checking on her cultivated herbs, she glanced around at other students’ areas, some of whom had been expelled due to lack of points or their owners giving up. They had little life force left. Perhaps it was her slight level increase, but Ellie could also feel the sadness and loneliness in those plants.

Her gaze lingered on the withered herb plots; however, she couldn’t do anything to help them. Merely entering the planting plot was impossible. Institution rules prevented her from entering plots that weren’t hers. However, unknown to her, someone was watching her at that moment.

Aman had heard earlier that his father had come to the institution to assign a mission to one of the scholarship students. Initially, he thought it should be the bright scholarship student. As far as he investigated, there were 2 scholarship students. The first one was Nara, a student of light elemental, and the other was Ellie, a student of botanic elemental.

At first, he thought Nara, being a student of light elemental, would be the one to help his older brother. So, he spent his first day checking on Nara and ended up not finding anything particularly interesting about her, except that she became Professor Lucien’s disciple from the first day she arrived.

However, the latest news revealed that it was the scholarship student Ellie, who used botanic magic and was the sole student of Professor Medik, that his father came to meet and help from the dispute.

Aman wasn’t foolish; even without knowing the whole truth, the attention his father paid to her was notably high. He had never seen his father take such an interest in anyone before. Thus, after hearing the rumors, Aman spent his remaining time following the scholarship student Ellie instead.

Though she did not seem special or interesting, much like scholarship student Nara who wasn’t particularly outstanding, the aura emanating from this student was extraordinarily abnormal.

The gaze of this student was far-reaching. Even without the support of the Setter family, Aman felt that she could still become a significant figure in the future.

Unconsciously, Aman’s eyes were glued to the scholarship student Ellie, not out of forced observation or to find fault, but with enjoyment, as if he were watching someone perform a mesmerizing dance. Especially when she was with her plants, this plain woman’s charm seemed to grow, making people overlook the face with distinct freckles.

If it weren’t for her finishing her work and looking confusedly at the adjacent plots, perhaps Aman would have continued to observe her unnoticed.

"Interested in expanding your plot?" His deep voice startled the dark-skinned young woman slightly.

Ellie’s awareness returned when this uninvited guest suddenly appeared in the Botanical Building. Upon seeing who it was, her eyebrows furrowed in surprise. In front of her was the second son of the Setter family. Ellie didn’t blame the family head for potentially sharing this with him. She knew what Lord Steven was like—if he knew there was such a risk, he’d never want to compromise his family’s interests, meaning he wouldn’t do something foolish like breaking a promise to her.

However, the incident had already become widely known in the institution. It was no wonder that Aman knew about it, including that his father had come here to help a student like Ellie.

The petite woman slowly stood up, positioning herself quite distantly from him and then spoke,

"Are you looking for the professor, sir? The professor is upstairs." Ellie replied simply, yet Aman made no attempt to conceal his intentions.

"I came to see you." The wise nobleman, who was another hero of the story admired by many. His white hair sparkled, enhancing his distinguished appearance. However, for Ellie, he was a vicious character too engrossed in the heroine to be trusted.

Even Professor Lucien, known for his honesty and seeing everything with the eyes of fairness like a knowledgeable person, had lied to help the heroine, Nara after spending some time with her. Then for a vicious man who could do anything for his beloved, regardless of the bias and incorrectness of his actions...Ellie did not want to take a chance with him.The best course of action was to stay away from such a dangerous being!
