Chapter 165: Chapter 164: I Want to Fight 10
In Fang Can’s residence...
"A decent Cultivation Technique." A smile touched Fang Can’s lips as he entered his combat state.
With a thought, the Y Divine Mantra activated, and his body began to radiate a brilliant red light.
Like nine coiling dragons, the red light began to multiply.
In the blink of an eye, chains of light of varying sizes began to coil around his entire body.
These glowing characters, ranging in size from a fist to a single cell, swirled around him.
The translucent, glowing characters made him look as if he were clad in a suit of armor.
His bone marrow, the tips of his hair, his muscles, his cells, his very blood vessels—all of it radiated a faint, scarlet light.
In an instant, his power doubled.
’But it’s not enough. Twice the power still isn’t a safe bet.’ Fang Can clenched his right fist. He could feel the power contained within his body, but he remained unsatisfied.
’Judging by the strength of that First Turn, Elder Yang, this won’t be enough to safely deal with Xiang Longtao and the other enemies who’ve reached the First Turn. I need to get as strong as I possibly can.’
Unsatisfied, Fang Can began to think about his next steps. It was time to consider the legacy of his Heaven-Ascending Road.
He had over twenty days left—more than enough time to forge his own First Turn legacy.
With a thought, Fang Can released the mantra’s hold. The faintly glowing scarlet characters all over his body receded, withdrawing until they lay dormant in his abdomen once more.
...
The next morning, Elder Yang saw Fang Can approaching. A teasing look crossed his face as he said, in his typical roguish manner, "How was the day off? Pluck any pretty flowers?"
"You’ll see soon enough. I’ve got a big surprise for you!"
Fang Can grinned. Before Elder Yang’s stunned gaze, the brilliant crimson of the Nine Dragons Coil erupted, wrapping around his body.
’He managed to conquer a hundred in a single day? This kid’s a natural!’ The thought had barely formed when Elder Yang’s face froze. He started to suspect he’d beaten Fang Can silly.
"You brat! Are you using the once-in-a-lifetime Y Divine Mantra on *me*?" The old man seriously wondered if his brutal training had given the kid PTSD. ’The grand tournament is still a long way off.’
"It’s not a one-time thing," Fang Can said, his body kicking up a gale as his right fist shot toward the old man, carrying with it an aura of utter annihilation.
"You think simply doubling your power is enough to be useful against me?" the old man asked, exasperated. "So what? I can just double my own power."
"Besides, the power gap between two cultivators at the First Turn can be even greater than the one between the Transcendent Body and the Heaven-Ascending Road. I’ll just adjust my own power down a bit more, simple as that."
The next moment, a similarly terrifying aura erupted from the old man’s body. He raised a hand and effortlessly caught Fang Can’s fist.
Outside Fang Can’s mansion, a First Turn cultivator stood under a tree, watching a woman walk out from within.
「Five days had passed since Fang Can mastered the Y Divine Mantra.」
"Miss, have you... cultivated with Fang Can?" the First Turn asked seriously.
Lu Ziyi nodded lightly, her mind still fondly recalling the events of the previous day.
The thought that she would have to endure the bitterness of "cultivation" for the rest of her life made her feel as though her existence finally had purpose.
These days, the thing she looked forward to most was the grand feast she would get the next day.
"So? How was the... effect?" the First Turn asked expectantly. The entire purpose of sending the young woman to infiltrate was to gather this piece of intelligence.
"Well... I don’t really know," Lu Ziyi said, embarrassed.
The First Turn was slightly taken aback but could only accept it. "Very well. Stay in Fang Can’s mansion from now on. Find out everything you can about him as quickly as possible."
"I understand," Lu Ziyi said obediently. In the next instant, the figure before her vanished without a trace.
Staring at the now-empty spot beneath the tree, Lu Ziyi’s expression was unreadable. She couldn’t help but think that the life of a double agent was a difficult one.
Besides, the effects of the treasure-elixir were truly astonishing. No matter how she tried to stall, she could only delay the inevitable for one month.
